  1. Runs.. My tips: - explore buying lots from Craigslist or eBay. Single issues of some later Marvel issues are getting rough, especially in Spideys. Collections of "drek" are often cheap, and will yield a couple of gems. - make sure you're willing to finish what you start. If you hate it (like I hated buying Adams Green Lanterns or Miller Daredevils just because I was supposed to), there's no enjoyment, and you've wasted a lot of time and effort, even if you come out ahead - give yourself a break when you're bored. There may come a time when you're not hot for the next issue of Spidey. Logic says, I don't like it, sell it. I say find something else to do while you subconsciously rekindle your desire to complete the run
  2. Question: do you guys read these, or just collect them? I bought a Shadow pulp on a whim, but I'm concerned the spine isn't going to hold up to me opening it very wide. Suggestions?
  3. Had to be misfiled. Fire the clerk who passed that at the cash.
  4. Are you kidding? If the local economy dips, everyone and their grandmother will be looking for things to scalp on eBay.
  5. Mandarin is a James Bond-type villain who lives in mountains and has plans to dominate or annihilate parts of the world. He does not identify as a Chinese citizen, but feel free to have him nuke a Chinese city if you really want to spell it out. Put a well-known Chinese actor in the role, toss around Tony and embarass Rhodey to show how tough he is. Hint at Fin Fang Foom for a sequel. Do you think anyone wouldn't like that?
  6. Mordo? It's a "sleeper" because know one knew. Why did no one know? Because no one cares. I'll say it now, that one's going the way of the Mandarin after the movie's done. Don't get stuck without a dance partner when the music stops...
  7. (thumbs u That's probably the best book to indicate whether you're talking to a Flash collector or a bandwagon jumper: I used to see 10 of those before I saw a 123, and they were never exorbitantly priced. If you were collecting Flash, this one was on your radar. The 129 and 137 should see an uptick in interest. Don't know if that will translate into a bump in price, but obviously worth picking up.
  8. I don't think it'll be hot, but I'm hoping the show gets people to rescue some of those forgotten Mike Baron Punishers from quarter bins.
  9. Nice copy that presents well, but the pinch through the top edge of the book is unusual... bulldog clip used to hang it somewhere? 8.0
  10. Faster, I guess a repro cover slipped over top wouldn't be so bad. As long as CGC says it's 0.5 Poor, it's probably the cleanest copy you'll find in that price range. I thought you cleared out all of your Flashes, though?
  11. Wanna sell an Aquaman movie? Tell Black Manta's story: he wants to destroy Atlantis and key surface sites in order to build an undersea megacity for African Americans to live free of racism and oppression. Instant publicity.
  12. Many "keys" are trivial and uninteresting. What people are doing now is fabricating keys, and hoping people swallow the hook. Dealers with stockpiles of junk are happy to oblige, and all the "experts" keep spouting "quality over quantity". What that means, in practical terms, is that a new kid who starts collecting should spend $10 on a Wolverine 80, instead of buying the 10 issues before or after and reading them, even if the only reason he should want it is a test tube marked X-23.
  13. Underrated: always been a fan of the Dane Whitman Black Knight, no one else is! Overrated: Deadpool, Harley Quinn for sure. How about I rock the boat and add Joker to the list? I never understood the ravenous need to buy any and every book with Joker on the cover, and the premiums he commands.
  14. I'm no Bat expert, but could Hugo Strange be the male villain? Seems obvious enough, and fits the timeframe. No idea about the female villain... I can't picture a "knockout" who doesn't already have a ton of exposure. How about Nocturna? She's a vampire, she'll keep until Bruce is older If they're going with the "use them now, they'll never be in a movie anyway" angle, how about Phobia and Dr Moon? Neither of them need CG to work.
  15. You're lucky to be finding quality books. Around here, I have to deflate about one guy a week on kijiji (craigslist) who thinks they can sell 2000 issues of drek for $5000.
  16. The longer we go without casting Captain Marvel, the more fearful I am that he's playing both somehow...
  17. Wow... people will buy anything. Time to say goodbye to a half-box of garbage!
  18. Very nice. If you ever let them go drop me a line. Would be particularly interested in the Quimby Mouse one. Pardon my ignorance, but what are they?
  19. Under, and happily so, I'm not finished my run yet
  20. I was thinking... since they've ruined Alan Scott in current comic continuity, maybe that resonated with one of the writers. Like Alan and his old nemesis Harlequin, Barbara could be a villain for a while before settling down and marrying Jim Gordon?
  21. No one ever liked Captain Boomerang. He had a big mouth, and he was always looking for a way to bail on a fight, often leaving teammates behind. Are there trades of the Ostrander run out there? I hope people read up and make an informed opinion about the movie, especially Deadshot.
  22. Curious... do the duplicates both get a big price bump due to their pedigree, or does the presence of a double make them seem less exclusive? You were wrong, you got called on it. Sorry you're having a bad day, but that's not a "negative presence."
  23. I'm wondering if part of Wells isn't going to be still inside the body, because the personalities are so different when Wells is helping (like with the fire) and when he's an evil madman. He can't take over Eddie, because Eddie's his great grandfather or something like that... Agree with everything, the actor portraying Wells is too good to let go. I'm kinda expecting Eobard's essence to be expelled from Wells somehow, and then float around and take over people like the Top used to. Why can't he switch with Eddie? How fkd up would it be if he was his own great grandfather?
