This thread won't be quite as large in scope as the one from December, but here goes- Usual rules apply: no probations, HOS, problem children, etc. First "I'll Take IT" trumps all ongoing negotiations. Shipping to the US is $20 for up to 3 slabs, $15 for unlimited raw books, and $10 for less than 10 raw books. Shipping is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Priority Mail USPS will be utilized. I am happy to ship to Canada, but shipping will have to be calculated when order is complete, AND I accept NO LIABILITY for these packages if they are not sent CERFTIFIED MAIL. I would recommend planning on $25-$40 for shipping to Canada. Offers will be considered, but acceptance is not implied until we come to an agreement. Returns are accepted on raw books. Sales of CGC graded books will be considered FINAL. Preferred form of payment is PayPal, but checks or money orders will be accepted as well. Payments are expected in a timely manner unless other arrangements are made. Paying by check or money order will result in the books being held until payment clears. If I had to have ONE artist to draw ONE story featuring ANY character, and it HAD to be drawn artistically with great uniformity, strong lines, energetic storytelling, and outstanding balance, I'd pick Jazzy John. Hands. Down. He's akin to a baseball player with "five tools".

It just all depends on where you fall on the scale of restoration. For collectors that don't mind PROFESSIONAL restoration, buying that book-which in addition looks like it might have pretty nice PQ-for peanuts, then dumping a grand and a half or so on it to have the spine rebuilt and touched might not be the worst option. Particularly if the rest of the book is as solid in hand as it would appear to be. It would just all depend on the price of the book. More than a few hundred bucks=no dice.

The rest of the book looks pretty solid. If one could buy REALLY LOW-like REALLY REALLY LOW-it'd be a decent candidate to have the spine patched and filled by a pro. I know what I just said is akin to online self immolation to some, which I get on some levels. Just an opinion.

The book would most likely return with a @5.0 grade from CGC, at least in my experience of submitting/buying books with sub creases. Many respected dealers would likely grade the book at @5.0, at least in my experience buying books with sub creases. It's @5.0. The days of sub crease books having a ceiling of 4.0, which seemed to be the standard of yesteryear.......that ship has sailed. It seems that sub creases really aren't treated any differently than reading creases that run parallel to the spine, which makes a lot of sense to me.

As someone who collects mid grade books and has no interest in extremely low grade books, I would be on a 5.0 ASM #1 like white on rice. If I really wanted an AF #15, I'd save up enough money to buy one in 3.5 with OW or better pages.

I believe that the above comment is correct; 5.5 is where the very nice sub crease copies top out. This copy actually isn’t all that sharp all around even. There are plenty of spine ticks and a pretty blunted upper right hand corner. If this is legit-which I’m assuming it is but hoping it’s not-it’s EASILY one of the most egregious examples of bad grading out there that I have ever seen.
