  1. Thanks for starting this thread. I don't have a 101 at the moment, but I've strangely always held the book in higher esteem than I probably should. Great "circle 12" cover. I remember seeing a couple of copies of this in my LCS when I has a kid, maybe around 1982. Not sure why I like it so much, but I do.
  2. Phil graded accurately, shipped securely and fast. Thanks for the great book and great service, Phil.
  3. While I don't agree with Smithdatura's assessment that the book is @3.0, I do agree that the book is overgraded. 5.0's shouldn't have holes in the cover. 4.0 for me, but then again we're splitting hairs. I've got a JIM 93 on its way to me from Anthony Snyder. The couple of books I bought previously were close enough to the advertised grade that I didn't hesitate to order from him again.
  4. Annuals are fun, and something that I myself need to start picking up to complete my silver age runs. The most affordable annual out there is also one of the most undervalued silver age marvel books: FF annual 1. ASM annual 1 is the one that will set you back the most $$. ASM annual 2 is one of my favorite books since it has Ditko working on Spiderman and Dr. Strange in the same issue. Strange Tales annual 2 is a cool book too...and probably undervalued as well. Even if the Kirby Spiderman on the cover is goofy looking.
  5. Don't be too sure about that. It's been about the same for 3 years or so. As a house cleaning and organizing fanatic, I can tell you that its a blessing and a curse.
  6. Here's a few pics of my comics/movies/music room. Modest, but organized.
  7. WOW! A 1.8 that presents like that is shocking. Curious what the back cover looks like....regardless, congrats on a 1.8 that looks like that.
  8. Bought 3 mid grade JIM's (100, 102, 104) off of Val's recent sales thread. All books were tightly graded, packed beautifully, and the service was FAST. I'll keep an eye out for any sales thread from Val in the future. HIGHLY recommended. Casey Kalaher makeminemego
  9. First of all, those caves are awesome, and would be beautiful to see in person, or in a movie. Sadly, they would just CGI a set like that instead, God forbid they use a real, living, breathing shooting set. I couldn't care less about a black Johnny Storm. That guy was awesome in Fruitville Station, and I'm pretty sure a black Torch is the least of the problems affiliated with what is sure to be a dead on arrival, flaming turd of an adaptation of what many believe to be the quintessential comic book originating from the Silver Age. A pudgy teenage looking guy as Reed? And the little dude from Billy Elliot as Ben Grimm? Seriously? Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope I am, but it seems that they just don't get it.
  10. I bought a beat up #8 at a yard sale in about 1984, and it got me hooked on Silver Age Marvel.
  11. German rock God Hasselhoff played the good Colonel in a TV movie 10-15 years ago.
  12. Fantasy Books in Collinsville, Illinois was my first comic store experience around 1982. My mom thought it was an adult book store at first, so she parked the car and went in to scope it out before she let me enter. Lots of wall books, early JIM's, FF's, and other Marvel Silver Age titles. They had a high grade ASM 1 for some time, priced at $800 under the glass counter. I remember a stack of 5-10 copies of Avengers 1 stocked under the glass at $50-75 a piece. And I remember a nice JIM 86 and 89 being on the wall as well. Bought a Captain America 141 there for a buck in about 1984. The company name has changed hands several times since then, and now it is mostly gaming, sadly. The "back issues" are thin, and representative of the last 5 years or so only.
  13. Sold off my collection of about 20 long boxes of silver/bronze in 2002, and just got back into collecting about a year ago. My first goal was to rebuild my early bronze Marvels, 15-20 cent cover prices between 7/69 and 4/74. I've got about 65% of the issues within that time frame for every non-reprint super hero title, which is about 400 books. I've also got about fifty 12 cent ASM's that I building a 1-74 run out of. So in total, about 450 right now.
  14. Reported. I tried to send the doosher an email, since he and I exchanged emails yesterday, but he either blocked me from being able to do so, or is no longer accepting questions about his item. I hope he chokes on his dinner, but that's just me.
  15. I got an email back from him stating that he was reporting me to ebay for harassment. This was after I sent him an email asking him where he got off, more or less. Doosher.
