  1. It would have been on the stands the same month as FF #5. So less a prototype than Kirby in the habit of drawing a specific iron mask. Cooler cover than FF #5 though
  2. I can see some logic in his method - if you know you can always make at least a $50-$100 profit selling the book at a show, why not pay close to FMV. Also a Black Cat #50 on display at your booth will draw pre-code collectors to look over the rest of your books, so it works as advertising as well.
  3. A big to bigfiver69 for sending me a couple of Atlas war books gratis after I admired the covers of his upgrades. And a big thanks to Shield for popping the BIN on a Zip #34 I had on ebay.
  4. The book "Plastic Man and Jack Cole" by Art Spiegelman and Chip Kidd is a must for any Cole fan and has a decent amount of biographical information. The cover for Police #102 certainly looks like Cole's work.
  5. Great cover! One of the MMs I hope to pick up someday.
  6. Nice find! I see it even has a B/W picture in the price guide.
  7. Excellent selection! - I agree that TMIH #13 has a better cover than #10. I collect decap covers and have never gotten around to picking up #10 because the head looks so goofy ( though I have thrown out a few low ball bids on the book ).
  8. Great squid cover - and any time you can pick up a 1940 book for under $100 your doing alright. I briefly toyed with collecting squid covers a few years back - and missed that one when going through the Gerbers.
  9. Congrats on the Air Ace! A classic cover for sure!
  10. I covet that book - looks fantastic for a 4.0 - and WHITE PAGES! Probably still an undervalued key - considering it's a classic cover as well.
  11. Better late than never thanks to the following: Bobfef and 143ksk for buying a number of Dell Lulu and Tubby books I was selling. ywenli for taking advantage of my 3 for a $1 sale and Jbone for picking up the WWBN lot I listed on the boards. -and Bob - thanks for bidding on the Schomburg Nedors I currently have on ebay! -Richard
  12. Sweet deal on the 'Tec 43 bat-hound - It's nice when CGC gives you a better grade than the seller - though that book is clearly nicer than a VG! Here are my copies of the oft-posted Detective 140 & 142. See the Marketplace for more info (hint).
  13. Not as graphic as War #11 - but another Atlas Korean BBQ cover. [/img]
  14. bigfiver69, Excellent selection of Atlas War covers - War #11 is a definite classic, but some of those others are new to me - Battlefront 15 goes on my want list!
  15. Most post-code Atlas covers are more sinister than those Unknown Worlds!
  16. Excellent thread - I don't know if it's a bonus for Archie collectors that those Peps & Jackpots have such great covers, or a curse for fans of classic WW2 covers that early Archie appearances raise prices and create competition. Of course there is no doubt where 143ksk sides.
  17. The cover art for Trapped! is currently being auctioned off by Heritage. I think the comic is as common as everyone suspects - as it rarely sells for more ( and often less) than it's already low low guide price. Still it's a great atom age giveaway that is affordable to every collector. I think of it as one of those books like Heroes Inc. - so cheap there's really no excuse not to have a copy.
  18. Wasn't that reprinted in Mr. Monster's Hi-Shock Schlock? Pretty weird story if I recall.
  19. Okay - you can't just post that and not tell us what year it's from - or what exactly makes maximo a superman.
  20. Dude - that says "ghost chronic" - some skullbending sh*t.
  21. Not surprising from a company that included a marijuana leaf as part of their logo.
  22. Great stuff Mark!- I'd never heard of the Liberty Lobby book - it goes on my want list! There seem to be alot of anti-communist giveaways not listed in the guide. Actually there are alot of giveaways period not in the guide - it seems to be the last frontier for discovering new stuff.
  23. Fantastic books - POV! A nice selection of one-shots Looks like you picked up alot of nice mid-grade books with solid eye-appeal - how were the prices?- I keep reading reports of con prices on pre-code horror being sky-high - does SD have more realistic prices? Seeing your haul makes me really want to go to a big con in the next year! I'd never seen the Murder Inc. before - you got to love it when the white space books have great covers Fight against Crime #12 is one of the first pre-code crime books I picked up (still have the copy) - great title with many excellent covers!
  24. Congrats on the baby - kids are the greatest!
