  1. I remember reading 'Big If" in some history of comics collection as a kid ( The Les Daniels book maybe? - I don't have it anymore)- and it blew me away too - Still one of the best comic stories ever!
  2. I can see the similarities but the cover looks much more polished. Also like the Cowgirl Romances cover - what would you call that - a taillights cover?
  3. Kudos to Dmac 538 - for superfast service and great packaging on the All Winners 14 I won on Ebay - CGC graded at 2.5 due to a loose cover, 1st two wraps and centerfold, but excellent eye-appeal - I prefer to think of it as a Qualified 5.0
  4. Thanks - can't say I'm familiar with Bill Walton.
  5. I just finished #61 - it's going to be a long 30 days.
  6. Who did the cover to the Black Diamond 52? It almost looks like Krigstien.
  7. Great cover at a great price - Harvey or not.
  8. It's debatable- but how can you deny a book called Atomic Rabbit?
  9. we have a winner! Actually for these modern "ashcans" - the term means that they should literally be tossed in the ashcan after reading ( if not before).
  10. Silver - I think you did well. IIRC that book usually goes for at least twice guide, so you picked it up for what an unrestored VG would likely sell for - which sounds like the lowest it would have graded pre-restoration depending on how bad the spine splits were. If you ever get tired of it let me know.
  11. I'm with you bobpfef, I picked this book up in a big lot of Lulu/Tubby books years ago and thought it was a pretty cool story.
  12. Thanks for the splashes - the Peter Lorre lookalike in the Crandall one is a nice touch. Man, I just want to start buying this title.
  13. Thanks Scrooge - great cover. For some reason Crandall's T-man covers often seem more action packed than his Blackhawk ones. I'll be looking forward to seeing some of the interior Crandall art when you get to the T's in your March 1952 thread.
  14. It actually looks redrawn - the spaceman on the right is smaller in the reprint and a cloud has been added - the creature has grown a third arm and his left hand is now showing - and his eyes have changed - and his legs are sprouting roots, and the shading in a couple areas on the cover is different.
  15. Great book - the colors really pop! - If you have anymore Lorna's please post them - from what I can see in the Gerber that title had a number of great covers. Also, Adam do you have any T-man books you can show us?- I always liked the "world tour" covers and thought if I ever went looking for HG Atom Age that would a title to look for.
  16. Fantastic cover! An undiscovered classic!
  17. To Aces for the reader Thors! $5 apiece for Silver Age Kirby & Adams - what's not to like.
  18. paull - I agree with you that Cole's 1940s poster covers are among the highlights of the GA - and that density of color is key to appreciating an individual copy - Contact #12 is my all -time favorite GA cover, and I have an enlargement of it framed and hanging on my dining room wall - the only comic related image I have displayed. Like you, I would part with alot of other books before selling my Cole covers. I support the idea that Steranko's Marvel covers are the SA equivelent of Cole's GA covers
  19. When it comes to books that old, 6.5 and 7.0 are high grade in my book! Nice comics!
  20. I used to think the cover to Mask #1 was overrated - interesting, but not worthy of the status it is often accorded, but the more I see it, the more I like it - it is just too surreal to to ignore - damn you for posting it - I'm trying to shorten my want list, not expand it!
  21. I've never been much of a Superman fan, but I have to say, the more I see of the early Actions, the cooler they look.
