manetteska replied to Shark's topic in Comics General
I replied to a CL ad Saturday to check out some comics early Sunday morning. Before I knew it another buyer swooped in and bought all of the books. -

DC Giant Love Need to find myself one of those. -
After visiting many stores on vacation etc, my LCS has a surprising amount and breadth of cool mags in a very small section.

3rd Print but still good Was surprised to find this hidden halfway through a run of them: ... and then there is this guy....

Went to a local 50% off LCS sale yesterday; found some goodies in the magazine section, including one I haven't seen before. Pics after work.

I'm in the same boat; been sitting at graded for some time. Usually QA/shipping is not far behind.

Went on a trip out west; had to make a few comic stops. All relatively cheap except for the Vampi. I believe it's a blue star copy, though I didn't pay any extra for that designation. Probably most excited for the Lampoon dog issue; my favorite store to stop at out there never disappoints.

Vampirella 19 Parrillo cover doing well. His other covers on the series -- while not as "in your face" -- are also great but don't sell near the price of this one. -
Captain Britain #1 Mask
manetteska replied to manetteska's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I'm pretty sure I cannot pry the mask out without tearing off portions the attached pages. Or ripping through them entirely. In terms of resale -- not necessarily slabbing, but sure -- best to leave it as-is or go for it? -
Anyone know where the Books in the Wild thread went?
manetteska replied to fastballspecial's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Nooooooo! I loved that thread. Was going to post a nice pick-up, too. -
Definitely huge keys there; a big surprise but a warm welcome.

What are the ages of each book?

Captain Britain #1 Mask
manetteska replied to manetteska's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
This older thread is what has me questioning such things: The submitter never really replied to say if his mask was attached or not; others chimed in saying they had a loose mask and just thew it in for submitting. And a UK member said the masks were never attached. And lastly, assuming the mask should be attached, is there any downgrade for being attached too "strong"? -
Captain Britain #1 Mask Picked this up recently and checked quickly to see if the mask was inside. It is, but it is stuck to the interior pages. If I attempt to pry them apart, the pages will rip. I was trying to determine if the mask was attached with adhesive or if this is the old rubberband now stuck to the pages. There is residue bleed-through to the opposite side of the mask pages. Also wondering how CGC would grade this (Blue, Green, Blue with deduction) if I sent in as-is.
