  1. On a different topic...

I am finding it increasingly difficult to even peruse the WTB threads, much less not say anything, to WTB "offers" that are substantially less than current market prices.

It's to the point where I don't even look at the whole sub-forum anymore.

People...if you need to put out what you want to buy, don't insult people by offering them significantly less than market price. eBay is only 10% at most. Asking for 20% or more off, especially on regularly traded books, is gauche.

Better to not list a price at all.

I love it when they tell you they can "pay right away", after offering you 70% or 80% of FMV for your hot, key book.

I'm amazed when certain people list books they will buy, specifically state they will pay "up to" 85% of GPA (or FMV or similar) and find sellers.

    Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

I'm not clear on what you find unusual about this. Are you amazed that somebody is actually paying 85% of GPA/FMV, or that anybody is selling for that?

That's not surprising. In fact for board sales I would say that's expected. (shrug)

Surprised somebody is selling for that price.

Usually people are asking for hot books. If I have a hot book, and someone is offering "up to" 85% of its value, why wouldn't I just sell it myself elsewhere for FMV or at least closer?

Since I'm on the boards in order to see that WTB, I must be able to use the internet and can probably whip up a quick sales thread; or just go to eBay.

  2. That's what I was saying -- Larry has a bunch socked away AND this other seller.

With some detective work, one can figure out who it is.

(Or Larry can just tell us, but he has avoided that question multiple times.)

hm I just wanted to know if that was Larry's eBay handle or not... don't really care about why that seller has x amount of copies of a low print variant; some people are just connected. I got in line 3 different days at NYCC for a copy of Wytches 1 NYCC and walked away empty handed each time. Other people scored upwards of 10 copies, so...

Well, there's connected and there's fixing the game.

It's why I try to stay out of the variant hoopla; there's big $$$ behind it, so of course it's rigged.

And no, this is not the only case in the history of comics (or history) where this happens, just saw this comic was the new hot thing and wondered where the copies ended up.

That seller could be an LCS owner who participates in the Phantom variant program.

    Yep; getting warmer.

For the #2 Phantom B+W, what was the allocation?

    X per Phantom store?

    1:X for each order?

Nothing to do with stores at all?

    I made it up...

    Some got 1.

    Some got 190.

Who got 1; who got 190? Can't be a random thing...

  5. Trying to figure out how a single seller has at least 10% of a "very limited" print run comic on the day of release (most likely before) when some B & M stores received only a handful of copies.

    What's to figure out?

500 were printed, I kept most of them.

The NYCC edition was ltd to 500.

    Image kept all of them.

    Get it?

500 printed, you kept most of them. An eBay seller also has a large stack and is selling them quite briskly at a nice premium.

Just making sure that this variant, like most variants, is manufactured to only make money for certain peoples while manhandling those that actually care about the comic.

  6. As to the question of Larry saying micro print on Wytches cover E

The program was designed to have retailers order a cardboard standee for image books. They have included a variant Image logo on one of the covers. First week was Tooth and Claw 1, this time Wytches 2.

Why he said micro print and why he is saying this is the one to get is that not many retailers appear to be part of this program. They could order as many copies of each title for the standee in bundles but not sure they knew which one had the variant logo.

I agree completely with him that this could prove to be the one to get for #2.

Did I miss anything? If anyone else has more info feel free to post.

I think he was referring to why one person would have hundreds of the ltd to 500 cover.

I got 190 out of the 500 but,

I run the program, solicit the shops, contact the creators, work with the publishers & paid for the cover artwork directly from my meager pocket.

I like being compensated for my hard work.

    Does that explain it?

    hope it's ok w manetteska

    :)

So eBay user cesradjr is you and/or your shop, Larry?

I would understand how you would have many copies; just wondering how a single person could have dozens.

  7. May not be the correct eBay thread, but it's the first one I found.

If you want your comics shipped/packed properly, avoid seller drmoonsparkle.

    How this seller handles things:

    1. Put 2 comics together in a single bag and board.

    2. Wrap this bundle in a single magazine page (still don't understand this one).

    3. Throw it in a bubble mailer (that's right; no additional packing material).

    4. Write "Do Not Bend" on the mailer.

    5. When the mailer shows up bent and damaged (surprise!) blame everyone else.

  8. Check out the title and description of this Micronauts #8, 1st Captain Universe: "rumored to be in the next GOTG movie". Yeah, I want credit for that one. The power of the boards compels you!

Um, you know who that seller is, correct?

    How is it?
