  1. I have nowhere else to share this other than my store's Facebook page, so I enjoy posting it here. At least a few of you reply. No one else in my life cares. :-)

Well, I shouldn't say that...April cares when she's interested in a new pair of shoes, or a new sweater, or a new outfit for Everly, or whatever else she spends my money on. :)

    Peace,

    Chip

I care about the New Teen Titans #2 and Iron Fist #14! :baiting:

I found some real junk on my last CL trip and was there for 2+ hours as he recounted the entire story of each comic book he picked up.

  2. To echo some others here, for the first half of the episode I debated dropping the whole series; trying too hard on the secrets/espionage/conspiracy stuff. A couple shows I know start off good and interesting and then buried themselves in their own mythology and convoluted plot twists.

The second half really pulled me back in. Finally some people with special powers and extra terrestrial objects doing crazy things.

I'm not that much of a Marvel historian, so is the big baddie reveal at the end mean anything to anyone?

  3. DC Comics Presents #26 NM @ $107 & 34 watchers.

Recently this comic has become even hotter. There have been some all time new highs and more watchers on various copies. hm

Check out what 27 & 28 are doing.

    Nothing much?

Focus on down to Bronze Age only and you'll see what he's talking about.

Still not seeing much -- at least for #27:

    I see:

CGC 8.5 not selling for $80.

Raw VF- not selling for $40.

Raw VF- not selling for $30.

    Random raw sold for $6.

    Another raw sold for $10.

Raw VF+ sold for $30 (this seems to be an outlier compared to every other listing).

    Raw VF sold for $9.

  4. Like I said before I got hosed!!

    The BAD

*** Dont know what happened here to both of these, 2 different sellers same result ***

Yeah, those Scalped #1s are tough.

The few that I have found all had scuffing on the back cover and a spine tick or two. Ruff.

  5. Hmmm. The last 7 raw ebay sales for Tec880 going back to 3rd week of August average $48 and only because one sold for $63 [the rest 40ish]

It is still very much a $40-50 book. That's up from a $30 book in late July but long way from solid $80 book. Just my .02 from taking a second to look at the sales.

+1 That's what I'm seeing too, if you look at completed sales, not what people want for it.

  6. Also, based on the seller's name/store, someone very closely associated with Greg Horn (or GH himself). The listing also mentions having 15 of these. Quite a good amount of dough if they go for the same amount.

Lastly, if Greg is marking these himself, is he going to have a CGC rep standing over him while he does it or does he get a "pass" b/c he's an artist? Or are people "winning" this auction going to have to wait 3 months to finally get their item?

    Like I said...interesting.

Greg has started doing this a lot - he grabs a stack of his artist comps, gets them pre-screened for 9.8, does a sketch on each of them (which is witnessed by CGC), and then sells them in his eBay store once they're slabbed. He either fast-tracks or does the books onsite, so there's no 3 month waiting period. There are several other artists who do the exact same thing.

I wondered how long before artists would start to figure out this game.

Not a bad way at all to make some nice scratch.

I assumed it was actually him, based on the ID and store name.

In order to limit the amount of time the buyer is waiting for his/her purchase, does the artist start sketching and submitting his/her comps before the book hits the public?

  8. Variant covers are so overdone.

    #overit.

I agree for the most part. I'm pretty selective with the ones I get since there are so many. It's both a blessing (due to the great artwork) and a curse (due to the amount made -- especially with Marvel's current method of pimping out #1s with a minimum of 4 variants). Some are the price of a classic key, which is ridiculous. But that just my 2c

I am still blown away by the prices Greg Horn was getting for his slabbed Gamestop variants with his and Lee's sig and a quick sketch.

    just wow...

Greg Horn's Spidey head looks a hell of a lot better than Stan's though. lol

    That second listing is interesting.

I wondered why the picture was so blurry around the specifics of the CGC case, yet everything else in the picture is focused so clearly. And how someone was able to get this comic so fast, remarked, and graded.

Turns out, if you keep reading the fine print, this is a pre-sale.

  9. If anyone is in the area, I saw about 4 or so copies of 3A and 3B at the Forbidden Planet London store while on vacation.

I would have bought them, but had no way to get them back to the states in good condition.

That store also has a ton of Southern Bastards FB variants (as one would assume) on the shelves. (Among other FB variants.)

  10. i am always just amazed at the mods on this board, wow i wish they would some day end the anonymous hiding stuff so they could be held accountable.

Delete a post if it needs to go poof, dont trash an 8 page active sales thread

who's ever heard a of professional company's forum with mods who are n00bs

For someone complaining in multiple places about this, you sure made out quite well.

  11. New additions c/o WW Chicago and joeypost ().

Took a "shot" on Longshot and came up short.

Not sure what happened on the Hellblazers, but very happy with the last 2 slabs; makes all the rest worth it:

They had soft bottom corners and a few spine breaks. You have to look from the side.

Yeah, guess the bottoms were worse than I remember. More surprised with the range of grades on those versus the actual grades.

But, like I said, overall I am very pleased. Only complaint I have is that I missed the suit. ;)
