  1. I'll admit, I haven't gone back and really looked at those panels since I was a kid. Seeing them all lined up does it make more interesting -- and does tilt the first cameo squarely in MoS 17's favor. However, why does this cameo command more than the full appearance (when it is usually the opposite)?
  2. I say just get both in 9.8 and set them next to each other on the mantel. Done and done. Trying to figure out when to get rid of my 9.6's.
  3. Yep, agreed. Though I'm out of the loop on that 3rd title. Perhaps it's b/c 17 is the first of the all-the-same-cameo?
  4. Happens all the time with comics that are plentiful -- and plentiful in high grade. Someone notices the graded copies are selling for a nice profit (considering one could buy them raw for $3-$5 and get them graded for $25 or so). Then the number of census copies go up and the price comes down. Some saturation going on with 18. That said, it appears that folks are a bit more driven currently to collect the "cameo" in 17 vs. the first full appearance in 18. Same thing is happening with the unofficial first appearance of Constantine. I believe you'll see another bump in both issues as soon as there's another announcement related to Doomsday (which is inevitable). Also: There may be elevated prices for a "newstand" edition vs. a "direct" edition. They're more rare in high grade and apparently more desirable. Much ado about nothing. #17 has always out-priced #18. It will eventually turn around for good. Hold your 18s and stick to your guns. Sell your 17s while the gettin' is good. What will be the catalyst that sees 18 replace 17 as the "one to own"? It's been discussed throughout this thread - where ya been? 17 is a cameo app that's shared in two other titles. 18 is 1st full app and cover and unique to MOS. Oh I know about -- and own -- the other 2 titles similar to 17. Though I'm guessing if I know, others do, too, and nothing has changed in terms of pricing.

  7. Are the regular 2nd prints really going for $20+ on eBay? mess. I saw 3-4 copies on Friday and passed. If anyone is in Chicago, the GCC off of Michigan had them when I was there. Go get 'em.
  8. that's a great seller, I buy from him all the time. Really? Do you not leave feedback, then? By the way, this is for issues 1-5, not just for #1. I think the first comment was meant to be a joke. I know. I missed it. I don't think you'll see 1-5 for $30 again anytime soon. I get jokes...sometimes.

  10. Yep; but DD still did remove himself from the topic on 6/4 w/o saying anything about the package, or waiting for a "received and is good", etc.
  11. My spoiler comment was a joke; I hope people aren't getting riled up b/c of it. Plus, it's been "proven" that spoiling things doesn't actually matter in regards to enjoyment: http://www.wired.com/2011/08/spoilers-dont-spoil-anything/
  12. There is still plenty of time for Scalped to be flash in the pan as well. How many options have actually become real tv shows? 2-3? out of 40? I have now tried to read issue 1 of Scalped about 4 times. I can't get through it...I wouldn't bet a cent on Scalped #anything but that's just me... Try a little harder to finish. I didn't think issue one was all that great either but by the end of the first trade I was hooked and finished the series in a week. I picked up the TPB from the library to see what it's about. A good ending to the first arc, and I will probably finish up the series some time, but what gave me a hard time was the main character. Basically, how he is drawn/what he looks like. Nothing about him (physically) makes him stand out from the rest of the characters or setting.
  13. Perhaps you should clarify before someone actually dumps money on this book. It's his M.O. Would you expect anything less?
  14. I wasn't tracking that auction, so I can't see it until tomorrow, but I'm going to say it was a bad time to end. Looking at auctions from yesterday still show health. Prices are down, yes, but most likely due to the gap between issues.
  15. Put a sheet on that mattress. Nice books.
  16. Ahh, so the seller is known. Even if he/she grades perfectly, that price is amazing.
  17. This is the one that has me scratching my head: Hellblazer 1 FN+ -- $50 Fine Plus condition; no name recognition (at least to me) like MCS or Sparkle.
  18. Is the line right above the small print a crease on the comic, a crack in the case, or a reflection?
  19. What are you going to do with those extra copies if you're not selling anymore?
  20. He is a friend who knows you are into comics, so you get preferential treatment, and he asked you to pay half of what it is worth when you found a $100 book in a pile...and you gave him $1.50...? Seems a bit dishonest, IMO. Sounds like you are proud of the fact that you took advantage of him. Am I missing something here? Half Price Books would have put the book out for sale for a dollar. Not necessarily. Most HPB stores have a locked box in the comics section for more "valuable" comics. As to who or what determines what goes in there, and at what price, I am not sure. For instance, the one by me has Wolverine Minis 2-4 for about $25 each; some old Crime-related comics; and a Secret Wars #8 that I picked for $10 with my credit. There was also another post around the boards with a store stocking an ASM #50 for $300.
  21. Also notice the two different ebay users, aznlovesauce2014 and thebigboss420, have the same description in the listing. Even down to the CGC sets they "individually" own. At least he/she gets points for being lazy.
  22. It's the actual cover that makes it look like that. You can tell b/c there is no crease on the back cover scan, plus, you can check out other copies: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hellblazer-1988-1-FN-VF-7-0-/131170496013?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item1e8a5eee0d http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hellblazer-1-2-3-4-5-Lot-of-5-1st-Print-John-Constantine-DC-Vertigo-1988-/251510629843?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3a8f33a5d3
