  1. Getting my copy graded right now at WW Chicago. Can't wait to see what I get.
  2. Went to my LCS last night and found a few copies of #2A. Since I went Thursday instead of Wednesday, I have no idea if there were copies of #2B or #3 that I missed. Anyone have an extra #1B and #2B that wants to traide?
  3. I believe they turned off that functionality in one of the latest "upgrades".
  4. Don't have to answer if you don't want to, but I see your location is Chicagoland. Were these found at a resale shop in the burbs or somewhere completely different?
  5. Let's be honest here; this is probably how it will go: Shark will not get his book (at least not through Lockford) Lockford will go on the PL Lockford doesn't care b/c he won't sell here anymore - and never has* Another exclusive variant comes up Lockford links/offers it here b/c why not? Money is money A PL notice will be put in the thread People from the boards will buy it b/c they want it (and may have a discount) And the world turns * Except for that one time he did.
  6. Very nice. Getting mine graded soon; love that cover. Did the back bring it down? Looks like a 7.0+.
  7. Wasn't commenting on your search skills, just still not sure what the 1st Batman Beyond is.
  8. Here are 2 CGC copies - 1 of each cover - and neither says 1st anything. One doesn't say anything at all. (nice eBay ID) http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=superman+batman+annual+4+cgc&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc I also cannot find a CGC note on a Batman Beyond #1,
  9. Finally (and thanks to some boardie help) able to complete my set: Obligatory bed sheet shot! If I can get it around to it this weekend, I'll put up my 18 hoard. -- dave
  10. Ahh, I get it now. "Where it went" was in regards to where the price would have ended up, not where the actual listing went. Then, very cool. Would be cooler if rh, who last I saw was active, would chime in on where it came from.
  11. Details, man! Details! haha So he is the one that put up the auction, then ended it early, yet pops up here and wonders where it went? Smelling fishy in here.
  12. MCS gives the grade on the books they receive. They are very strict too. Yeah MCS gives the grade, I had it as a 9.2 but I wasn't sure how CGC would hit the misalignment. It failed a 9.6 prescreen but I thought 7.5 was pretty brutal. And that's exactly why I don't send books to them. Strict is good but I think they're too strict. So you're saying it's a buyer's paradise.....
  13. Only 5 or 6? Nice score. Hard to find in the wild. For what it's worth, the last two collections I bought had both. In fact, they each had the entire run into the 90s. Back a little before the recent craziness started, I found 2 17's at some local shows. After that, zilch. Even now I can still find 18's at stores for $6 or so. Any 17 2nd prints in there?
  14. Flip the search to "Most Recent Prices" and you get a different story: Real Talk Still a high price for a no-name book, but not pulling down those prices anymore.
  15. The North Myrtle indoor market has NOTHING of significance in it. Neither does the outdoor market in Little River. Might have to drive down to MB and check that place out. Pretty sure last time I was down there that place wasn't a flea market. Wolf's Flea market in Palatine Il is this exact set-up. Aisles upon aisles of basically garbage, vendors offering haircuts, shelves of old CD's, DVD's, VHS tapes..... The haircuts stall @ Wolff's is my favorite.
  16. Once again, I have to thank this board for helping me find some hidden eBay gems. Went to an LCS after work and found a VF Two-in-One in a 75% off box. Now to make some money before people realize what they are buying.
  17. Are these really sold out everywhere? Or just 1-per-customer limits? So I saw these on Wednesday, and thought I'll come back for it later in the week in NYC. Came back today to three different shops all sold out..... Why is this so hot? Because the board said it is.
  18. I'll admit, I haven't gone back and really looked at those panels since I was a kid. Seeing them all lined up does it make more interesting -- and does tilt the first cameo squarely in MoS 17's favor. However, why does this cameo command more than the full appearance (when it is usually the opposite)?
  19. I say just get both in 9.8 and set them next to each other on the mantel. Done and done. Trying to figure out when to get rid of my 9.6's.
  20. Yep, agreed. Though I'm out of the loop on that 3rd title. Perhaps it's b/c 17 is the first of the all-the-same-cameo?
  21. Happens all the time with comics that are plentiful -- and plentiful in high grade. Someone notices the graded copies are selling for a nice profit (considering one could buy them raw for $3-$5 and get them graded for $25 or so). Then the number of census copies go up and the price comes down. Some saturation going on with 18. That said, it appears that folks are a bit more driven currently to collect the "cameo" in 17 vs. the first full appearance in 18. Same thing is happening with the unofficial first appearance of Constantine. I believe you'll see another bump in both issues as soon as there's another announcement related to Doomsday (which is inevitable). Also: There may be elevated prices for a "newstand" edition vs. a "direct" edition. They're more rare in high grade and apparently more desirable. Much ado about nothing. #17 has always out-priced #18. It will eventually turn around for good. Hold your 18s and stick to your guns. Sell your 17s while the gettin' is good. What will be the catalyst that sees 18 replace 17 as the "one to own"? It's been discussed throughout this thread - where ya been? 17 is a cameo app that's shared in two other titles. 18 is 1st full app and cover and unique to MOS. Oh I know about -- and own -- the other 2 titles similar to 17. Though I'm guessing if I know, others do, too, and nothing has changed in terms of pricing.
