  1. I care about the New Teen Titans #2 and Iron Fist #14! I found some real junk on my last CL trip and was there for 2+ hours as he recounted the entire story of each comic book he picked up.
  2. To echo some others here, for the first half of the episode I debated dropping the whole series; trying too hard on the secrets/espionage/conspiracy stuff. A couple shows I know start off good and interesting and then buried themselves in their own mythology and convoluted plot twists. The second half really pulled me back in. Finally some people with special powers and extra terrestrial objects doing crazy things. I'm not that much of a Marvel historian, so is the big baddie reveal at the end mean anything to anyone?
  3. Ahh, so you're looking at the SOLD listings only. Have to be careful there, as some of those sales go back to early August. That's why I look at Completed; shows you what sold AND what didn't. So DCP #27 may have been selling for $25 in August, but no one is really buying it now.
  4. Check out what 27 & 28 are doing. Nothing much? http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=dc+comics+presents+27&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc Focus on down to Bronze Age only and you'll see what he's talking about. Still not seeing much -- at least for #27: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Bronze-Age-197083-/12590/i.html?_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=dc+comics+presents+27 I see: CGC 8.5 not selling for $80. Raw VF- not selling for $40. Raw VF- not selling for $30. Random raw sold for $6. Another raw sold for $10. Raw VF+ sold for $30 (this seems to be an outlier compared to every other listing). Raw VF sold for $9.

  6. Ruined the plan I wonder what the other buyer on the first thread was up to...
  7. I know about the no threadkrapping rules; perhaps this does skirt it ever-so-slightly b/c it is removed. (Or it doesn't and there are some strikes coming.) But as for the TK rule, are buyers allowed to come here and say anything or do they just suck it up and let someone else buy?
  8. People are still buying...and bumping: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8048867#Post8048867
  9. I was thinking the same thing (when I saw the first listing), but then people were buying them up faster than he could list them and at decent prices, too.
  10. Yeah, those Scalped #1s are tough. The few that I have found all had scuffing on the back cover and a spine tick or two. Ruff.
  11. +1 That's what I'm seeing too, if you look at completed sales, not what people want for it.
  12. Greg has started doing this a lot - he grabs a stack of his artist comps, gets them pre-screened for 9.8, does a sketch on each of them (which is witnessed by CGC), and then sells them in his eBay store once they're slabbed. He either fast-tracks or does the books onsite, so there's no 3 month waiting period. There are several other artists who do the exact same thing. I wondered how long before artists would start to figure out this game. Not a bad way at all to make some nice scratch.

He either fast-tracks or does the books onsite, so there's no 3 month waiting period. There are several other artists who do the exact same thing. I assumed it was actually him, based on the ID and store name. In order to limit the amount of time the buyer is waiting for his/her purchase, does the artist start sketching and submitting his/her comps before the book hits the public?
  14. I agree for the most part. I'm pretty selective with the ones I get since there are so many. It's both a blessing (due to the great artwork) and a curse (due to the amount made -- especially with Marvel's current method of pimping out #1s with a minimum of 4 variants). Some are the price of a classic key, which is ridiculous. But that just my I am still blown away by the prices Greg Horn was getting for his slabbed Gamestop variants with his and Lee's sig and a quick sketch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-1-CGC-9-8-GAME-STOP-SIGNED-SKETCHED-BY-GREG-HORN-STAN-LEE-NR-/321443785853?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4ad78aec7d&nma=true&si=LAPHHcRad1Kp%252BtuMrQDJVRkWXow%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Death-of-Wolverine-1-CGC-9-8-REMARKED-edition-GAMESTOP-variant-by-GREG-HORN-/361033466606?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item540f4582ee&nma=true&si=LAPHHcRad1Kp%252BtuMrQDJVRkWXow%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 just wow... Greg Horn's Spidey head looks a hell of a lot better than Stan's though. That second listing is interesting. I wondered why the picture was so blurry around the specifics of the CGC case, yet everything else in the picture is focused so clearly. And how someone was able to get this comic so fast, remarked, and graded. Turns out, if you keep reading the fine print, this is a pre-sale. Also, based on the seller's name/store, someone very closely associated with Greg Horn (or GH himself). The listing also mentions having 15 of these. Quite a good amount of dough if they go for the same amount. Lastly, if Greg is marking these himself, is he going to have a CGC rep standing over him while he does it or does he get a "pass" b/c he's an artist? Or are people "winning" this auction going to have to wait 3 months to finally get their item? Like I said...interesting.
  15. If anyone is in the area, I saw about 4 or so copies of 3A and 3B at the Forbidden Planet London store while on vacation. I would have bought them, but had no way to get them back to the states in good condition. That store also has a ton of Southern Bastards FB variants (as one would assume) on the shelves. (Among other FB variants.)
  16. For someone complaining in multiple places about this, you sure made out quite well.
  17. Were they for sale for $1 each, or is that the usual Craigslist ad junk? Did you end up buying all of them?
  18. Greg worked with me on price and shipped very quickly.
  19. nice! Yeah, I'll have to say that's a sweet looking copy! (thumbs u Thanks! And a big tip of the hat to Joey. It looks even better next to her "second cousin twice removed"
  20. They had soft bottom corners and a few spine breaks. You have to look from the side. Yeah, guess the bottoms were worse than I remember. More surprised with the range of grades on those versus the actual grades. But, like I said, overall I am very pleased. Only complaint I have is that I missed the suit.
  21. Atom = Adam. I found a rough copy and sold it immediately; I thought people were nuts. I suppose the guesswork is finally coming true.
  22. New additions c/o WW Chicago and joeypost (). Took a "shot" on Longshot and came up short. Not sure what happened on the Hellblazers, but very happy with the last 2 slabs; makes all the rest worth it:
