  1. I knew you knew that I knew... Total agreement. I would have loved to be able to see more horror covers. Do you know why he never managed to do more comic covers?
  2. Actually it is a cut & paste job. Kelly confirmed that someone cut up his art (or a photostat) in the creation of the cover. That's why you see a white background above the pile of bones and behind the two main figures. I haven't heard if anyone knows why this was done as it's a great cover and hard to imagine that there would have been some problem with the background. Great info as always! Did not know that! Although by cut & paste job, I was trying to imply that Freas didn't "swipe" the subjects from other sources.
  3. That's almost certainly a paste-up cover, isn't it? It looks like a kid playing with Colorforms to me. Can anyone ID where the two characters are swiped from? Jack AC Hollingsworth signed it. I don't know if he swiped these or not, though I agree the proportions are, shall we say, "off." Here's the Kelly Freas cover, which I think it is safe to say is NOT a cut&paste job.
  4. Buck, that Weird Terror is a favorite of mine! Nice looker! (thumbs u
  5. Can anyone deny the classic goodness of this cover??!! I love the look on the guys face!
  6. Nice book Keith! (thumbs u (also liked the Witchcraft #3 with the spiders) (how come the picture of the comic doesn't show up when I use the "quote" button to reply?? Odd. Strange things are afoot... btw- thanks for the compliments.
  7. Witchcraft #2 is such a magical cover! Understated at first, but such incredible line work & colors, it pulsates in hand! Yes. Lots of good work in the run. Here's # 3, which I don't like as much. I bought this in '95 or '96 at the Heroes Con in Charlotte. There wasn't much pre-code there, and I got high pressure sold by Carbonaro from Neat Stuff to buy this one. Nice copy, though.
  8. If you just want to read the stories, Strange Mysteries #18 by I.W./Super reprinted Witchcraft #1 and should be a lot cheaper (though not necessarily easier to find). Good info! Thanks! I certainly want to read 'em, but I'd definately like to fill that gap in my run someday as well.
  9. Thanks for filling the gaps, Scrooge! (thumbs u An affordable reader of Witchcraft # 1 has eluded me for years now!
  10. Thanks! I suspected you would know! Didn't a more famous Anderson... Murphy, do some interior work as well? I'll have to do some reading...
  11. Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! Here's a very nicely executed cover...
  12. Thanks! Good to be back! As for the Rondo cover, I never thought he looked as impressive as the girl does, personally...
  13. Hey boils & ghouls!!! It's been awhile, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things after being in a funk from losing my dad. Here's the "infamous" Rondo Hatton photo cover...
  14. Thank you all for your suport. Just for kicks, here's a link: http://www.legacy.com/Dispatch/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=94644457 My Dad was a cool guy, I'm sure you would have all enjoyed his company.
  15. Thank you all for your support. It really does matter. (thumbs u Bonds- Thanks for the great post. You had no way of knowing, but Ray Bradbury was my dads favorite author. Very appropriate!
  16. I know it is OT, but I wanted to acknowledge the passing of my father last night (9-16) at 9:30 PM from liver disease. Without his genes I may not have cultivated a taste for creepy stories. Rest easy, Dad. I know out there somewhere is a park with an issue of House of Mystery waiting for you under a tree, and you'll never have to skip shool to read it.....
  17. Here's one from late in the run that stands out IMO. (thumbs u
  18. Have you read any? They look kinda funny. I've only seen # 2 up until now.
  19. Awesome Freas cover and...WOW!... just a beautiful copy!
  20. Cover-wise, true, but what are the stories like? Pretty average story-wise, but the last story drawn is by Rudy Palais, and his art pretty much rocks IMO.
  21. I suppose that an arguement could be made that this Heck cover features more "close-ups" than any of the others, but still falls into one of the weaker covers of the run, IMO.
  22. Yeah, gotta love that one for even just the sig alone!
  23. TOO SWEET! Thanks for sharing! I love info like this. (thumbs u
