  1. Can't Verify Anything since they are doing it through two layers of plastic. Anything to collect a "toll" from the collecting/buying community.
  2. I slab books because "Grading is subjective" is the norm in the raw grading community. Even though people have been grading for over 30 year there is still no formal teaching method on how to grade a comic. Grading guides are clear as mud and the grading companies don't publish their standards. There is nothing more exciting to me then arguing over grading at a show or somebody trying to convince me that they are the "alpha male king of grading" by being ballistic. Frankly prices wouldn't be where they are today without slabs since people would always question the grade.
  3. I believe that is correct. If you have a loss for 3 out of 5 or every year the IRS questions if you are truly trying to run a business or just losing money on purpose for tax losses.
  4. Comic profit as a "collector" is based on it being a short term or long term capital gain which is taxed at a lower tax bracket. Smart idea to speak to a accountant.
  5. I'm still trying to figure out what Happy Metal sounds like.
  6. Thanks for the advice. I have a red button on my boxes that will pop up all the upgrades for this type of buyer. By all means come back and tell me how much money you made and how you chewed me down on the buy.
  7. Had to do with booth placement I believe. Bill can always add more since there is probably a lot more to the story.
  8. Oh, so you are one of those slab-o-maniacs Richie talks about.
  9. Well I'm from New York. Wasn't aware that I might be classified as a NY prototype motormouth. Welcome to the boards and Y'all have a great day.
  10. Mike during the 50 shades of gray phase. I just go through the 50 shades of bald.
  11. The infamous Michael Carbonaro. 60 shades of black, the Joker, the tongue, Foo Man Choo when he puts on his glasses, Flying High again back in the 70's.
  12. Sorry, I'm sure those sales would have ignited a wildfire in the Jimmy Olsen market.
  13. How many fashion disasters can we count in this photo?
  14. Book was not consignment, I owned it. Book has been paid for, it is sold. Just like my other sales it won't be reported to GPA.
  15. GI combat #88 VF+ and a #91 VF/NM 9.0 (highest graded copy).
