  1. Nice to know all the dealers that are paying retail for Hulk #1's in 8.0.
  2. Well I happen to prefer the 2 9.4 dark green copies I currently own.
  3. Wonky Green? Wow, that's a new one to me. There are differences in the upper left corner of the books based on where in the print run the book was. If we were chatting about the book I refer to it as the color strike. Starts out deep rich green and fades along the way. There are also different variances in color of Silver Surfer #2's that go from very deep rich purple to lighter. This is not because of being exposed or fading. The Dark green versions of X-Men #1's are generally more desireable from a eye appeal standpoint.
  4. First time to London. Looking forward to it.
  5. I think that Lunch cost me a few bucks
  6. Hmmm, was this at the lunch we had?
  7. So does Doug's X-Men #1 9.4 White page sale for $137K count?
  8. Here's my new Iphone/Droid app - ComicDealercode. Every dealer is assigned a barcode. You scan the barcorde app for dealer reputation. When the Avoid like the plague response comes up you move on to the next table.
  9. Frankly I would question the toronto store's decision. Why would you keep a business name that is associated with such a bad reputation? Any booth with 1,000,000 comix on it's label is NOT getting my business. And if I was in Toronto/Canada doing a show what would happen if both Gerry and this store setup? 1,000,000 Comix of the US and 1,000,000 Comix - Toronto? I have seen 1,0000,000 Comix at Wizard Chicago and also at Reed New York. I do not know what other shows he sets up at.
  10. Just got a call from Gerry asking me if I bought comics. I told him "No". His reply was "Isn't that a waste of a Overstreet ad". My reply "No, I don't buy from 1 Million Comics". Have a nice day Gerry. Bob
  11. All is well. Business must be busy in Hoogieland since we never see you anymore. bob
  12. Avengers #2 9.4 went very smoothly. Thank you sir. bob
  13. AF #15 5.5 transaction went very well
  14. Make up shirts that state - I paid $100 for this? Hell, might as well make some money on this
  15. Actually I would loan that sketch as an idea for a new Trojan Man commercial
  16. That sketch would be the equivalent of me selling you a VG and callling it a NM.
  17. Frankly the argument that pressing alone will bring down the high grade market by itself is a little overstated. Every new collection pressed or unpressed coming into the market will potentially compete with what's already out there. But let's not just punish the highest graded copy collector. Because let's look at what happens when a "It sold for how much" conversation takes place. Upgraders start running around and other guys start looking for equal graded copies. Being the first guy with the best copy will set the bar. Whether that bar is raised or dropped all depends on how the next copy is received. Frankly I feel that Art collectors like having the only one. If it's a good piece there is no fear of another copy of the same piece coming to market. All they have to worry about is whether a flood of material from the same artist comes out. And for the record Comic art collectors are just as BSD conscious as high grade comic collectors. While comic guys run around at shows with books under their arms they carry their portfolio's. A comic art collectors version of a pressed book is sticking another collector with his one of a kind art boat anchor. Disclosure - I liked the piece, doesn't mean anybody else does.
  18. Tim and Gene sit around counting Krugerands. It's not about the money, it's all about stacking gold coins in their money vaults.
  19. Cal writes likes to post using the 3rd person Yoda style. Hmmm, Iron Man & Sub-mariner, I see you want. Grade, hmmmm, me thinks I have it in that grade. Hmmm, cheap I see with your offer, Hmmmm.
  20. Grass always looks greener? Nowaday's they trim off all the grass.
