  1. Am I the only one that is ecstatic that Jackman will be done playing Wolverine after this movie? I was hoping he would have been axed for the DOFP movie. He is and has always been completely wrong for the part.

I hear the next Wolverine will be more like the real, comic book version. Shorter, meaner, stockier, and more feral.

That would be a great way to get audiences to forget this 6'1", genteel, Abercrombie and Fitch model- version of "Wolverine" nonsense that has been Hugh Jackman thus far.

Oh dear lord me too... Soooo glad.

  2. With the current hard feelings between Fox and Disney's CEO, you may be on to something. Heck, he cancelled the comic titles to spite them. Why not trying and plug in the characters wherever he can?

Maybe the step down at 21st Century Fox ,the son taking over, will change the dynamic.

(emphasis mine) "...James, and other people familiar with the company, describe him as curious and a risk taker like his father. But they also cite two big differences that they like: James is less sentimental about certain assets than his father..."

Who knows. Maybe some doors will re-open, hands will shake and...

I don't mean to say anything politically charged but with Fox News so focused on certain demographics, I'm AMAZED that Fox did a race swap in the first place. Before calling the movie progressive, people should be more amazed by how uncharacteristicly progressive Fox is being.

  3. Switching ethnicities is hit or miss. The problems with Michael B. Jordan are:

    1. Human Torch is one of the bigger named characters. Kinda like making Wolverine a black guy…just doesn't fit. And yes, I know that they got an Australian to play a Canadian but you cannot tell the difference visually right?

    2. Human Torch has a sister…who in this movie is not black. So I understand they're doing the whole "Susan was adopted" thing which is great for PC…not for a comic book movie where they are actual blood siblings. Why add in a complicated story of adoption when it doesn't need to be there? Just so the director can hire his pal? Bah!!!

As far a Mordo being black….does it really matter? Is there such thing as a die-hard Baron Mordo fan? He's not a huge character who is well known and his being black doesn't change the story or affect it in any way.

This also goes with Tilda Swinton playing The Ancient One…not a huge character…gender doesn't affect the story.

Agree with this... I think he would have made a GREAT voodoo but alas.

  4. Love that piece. What is that OA in the background to the right?

Thank you, the OA to the right is the published Steampunk cover for Nightwing #28 by Tommy Lee Edwards:

The OA to the left is a Galactus page by Greg Capullo, What If... #15 pg 4:

Bought the statue, the CGC book and the omnibus to support the Capullo OA.

That is a knockout in BW. Great cover.

  5. On Episode #8 right now. Just taking my sweet time on this. Will continue maybe next week. Any idea when Season 2 comes out?

I'm half way through episode #9 and the show just gets better.

I think that my watching it on a computer screen and cutting for breaks is probably detracting from the show for me a bit.

Having said that, I'm coming to realize that what makes this show work so well is that it is very much a Jekyll / Hyde concept with the origin of the Kingpin being just as important, if not more important than DD's origin.

DD was done in one episode. The Kingpin is taking up the entire seasons.

    It's building very nicely.

Couldn't agree more... The dycodomy of both characters is what makes it great. They are very rich in that either could move from good to evil or vice versa very easily. Both appear to want what's good for the city but with very different core ethical grounding which makes all of the difference. I hope that DD2 builds on that ethical/morality pull. The richness of the tapestry is what sells it.

  6. I absolutely loved those last 2 x-men movies. Never much of an x fan in the comics.

Ditto. Fox has done good work with the X-Men franchise. The problem with FF wasn't so much the directing or -script, but rather the casting. We knew we were watching an FF movie because that's what the ticket said, but it wasn't the FF. Fox seems to have assembled the right cast this time around. Now the question is whether the story works and whether Trank makes it all flow together.

Interesting you would say this. I would hazard to guess that at least 60% polled would say they absolutely did not assemble the right cast. All I've heard over the last 6 months is too young, too black, too skinny, too etc, etc, etc...

  7. Has anyone noticed yet that Matt Murdock is a dead ringer for Jimmy Linguini?

Anyone noticed yet that Jimmy Linguini is a dead ringer for my big fat rear?

    :)

Please tell me that if I go into the "share a picture of yourself thread" again for the first time in a while, a picture of your big fat rear isn't in there waiting for me.

That's the new sub category. "Share a picture of your big fat rear" it was getting too popular on its own.

  8. Evedence: Douglas "Doug" Petrie is an American screenwriter, director, and producer. Best known as a writer, director, and co-executive producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He co-wrote the screenplays for the Fantastic Four film and Harriet the Spy. He has also written for the television shows Angel.

    Further to my point

You may very well be right... but lets not just forget he was also a producer on this show as well.. Lets not jump there till we actually see it. All we know right now is there will be a season 2 of DD with almost all of the same people involved. They are not bringing in someone new to the fold that didnt work on season 1
