  1.

One of my friends found a copy of this comic at C2E2 on Sunday for 1 thin dime!

I am hoping that happens to me some day.

I hope I find an Amazing Fantasy #15 for a dime one day. Hell, even one at $1G would be nice.

I found a NM copy of Savage Tales #1 for $1.50 at a used book store once. It was in the magazine section. It was a very happy day

    First Ellen Brandt! Great book!

    lol!

    First Man-Thing too

  2. Ok I've never read the title but I gots a question....

Is it Mind Management? Or Mind M.G.M.T (letters pronounced).

And what the hecks it mean!?!

There is no secret Government CIA-like organization called Mind MGMT that has been influencing foreign conflicts (waving hand Jedi-style)

  3. Awesome thelastworld!!!!!

I need to buy one piece of OA..... (know I will become an OA addict..... My name is Ryan and I'm addicted to OA).

If you are going to buy a Mind MGMT page, I'd do it soon, the primary market is starting to dry up with most of the "a list" pages getting snagged quickly. And I am sure the secondary market will have a big mark up, if they even ever do go on sale.

    hm

So tough... OA or SA/BA/Modern Key :juggle:

I've had this debate with myself and I vacillate. If I were not on my phone right now, I could write you a thesis on my thoughts. Short answer is: it depends

I am pretty bias as an art collector. But my logic is Matt Knidt will never draw another copy of issue 1 page 4. OA is truly 1 of a kind....

And buying art from the artist directly (or their rep) truly supports them directly.

And for something like this series... you can get a NICE page for $300, or a cover for $800ish....

Considering the cost to get key issues, that's fairly nominal. but it's also not apples to apples, because a page from a key issue is going to start in the 15-20k range these days.

My interest lie more in collecting OA than keys and my statement was generalized & not a reflection of Matt's work (I just happen to be expressing an opinion in the MM thread). BUT, if I had to choose - for example - between spending 3k on a decent AF15 or a walking dead cover, I'll go with the AF15.

It's very addicting. Be selective and don't buy anything just because 'its cool' or you'll be hemorrhaging money.

The best feeling is buying a page from a childhood favorite comic.

  6. Are any of these titles hot?

    Irredeemable Ant Man

    Annihilation (complete, new gotg)

    Nova 1-36 (complete)

    Infinity Gauntlet complete

    Haunt 1-16

I am just curious as to if these are desirable right now.

Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation Conquest 6 are hot, but Haunt is in the toilet. I had a #1 raw signed by Kirkman a while back that barely sold for cover price.

  7. You know what, if you wrote a weekly speculative column... speculating about prices, new books, print runs, grades, the aftermarket, raw Vs. SS vs. Blue vs. whatever, I'd totally pay for it lol.

    +1

    ++1 :grin:

Agreed. I don't always agree (or at least want to agree) but you always make very compelling arguments.

  8. That looks great, Ash. TBH I didn't care for the art at first, but I'm really liking it now; the style compliments the story well. I may break down and get a page. What size are they? I assume it's on watercolor paper and not conventional OA board?

  9. Gonna get these framed this week :)

DUDE - that issue 1 page w/ Savoy is one I had been trying to track down the last three years - one of my favorite panel pages from the whole series. I never could get a solid lead on it.

    Congrats

    I'll be PM'ing you a lot.

  10. If anyone is interested in Kindt's other work, I read 3 Story a few days ago & it's very good. It's a simpler story than MM - it's about a guy dealing with gigantism - but the writing is good and the characters are well developed. TBH, I wasn't too impressed with Matt's artistic style on MM, but its starting to grow on my and it fits the melancholy story of 3 Story very well. I now want to check out more of Kindt's work.

One interesting note, the giant in 3 story works for the CIA for a while. Considering another of Matt's books is calls Super Spy as well as the covert story of MM, what's up with his fascination with spys?

  11. And Mr. Jimmy, I with you, they were just talking about how much money they could raise if Marijowana was legal everywhere, I say go for it or I will be retiring in Washington or Colorado.......That is the only thing that can keep the HULK calm and happy...

There's a 'dispensary' less than a block away from the Milehigh Comics warehouse in Denver, Hulk; fill two habits in one trip. (Although I'd rather spend my money on comics)

  12. Not necessarily modern (late copper?) but pertaining to a major modern character and artist. Got this in last week - the cover to Best Cellars #1, Eric Powell's first published comic art, and the first appearance of Monster Boy, a Goon Prototype (and a character fans used to argue was the Goon):

Best Cellars #1 is super hard to find itself (around 1,000 copies printed), stoked to grab this piece of art.

Congrats on the Powell cover, but HOLY SMOKES you have a lot of great art in your Gallery (worship)
