  1. In general I agree with Nexus - I would buy OA over a slab 11 times out of 10 from the same book if prices were relatively close. I think, as was mentioned, that the pool of slab collectors is greater and slabs are seen as a more liquid asset than a typical OA page. As much as we all love the comic media 1st, finances have to be a consideration.

  2. I will do it just to make sure the other guy doesnt get any "deals".

Used to do it a lot on x-men auctions

    :o

I KNEW something fishy was going on when I was trying to complete my x-men run

    :baiting:

  3. Also really like the pencils on that first UXF page, Pete! Who is the artist?

Looks like Scott Eaton's signature; I have one of his older pages, but he's really been nailing it lately.

Thanks for the props on Debris 4; I got it from Jason at Interior Pages. Funny story: I originally asked about another page & he sent a photo with this cover in the background (this was a couple of months before it was released). Even though the image of this cover was partially cut off, I could tell it was a great cover, so I changed my order.

And I agree re: Riley; he really brings something different to to table artistically - hard to define, but I'd have to call him an experimental artist.

  4. I know Debris never got any love, but I loved this cover to issue 4 by Riley Rossmo. SO many good design elements: composition, the foreboding outline of the monster (can't remember what it was called), and Riley's unique inking style to name a few.

  5. What I would do is probably :screwy: by most people standards, but I would run it for 10 days..Starting so it ends on Sunday night.....Opening bid of .01 cents, no reserve and let it run it's course.

I think this does several things. One, you're giving everyone a chance to see it (running if for 10 days) that would be interested. I know most of the boardies here will be bidding. Secondly, if there is a no reserve, you're letting the market really decide what it's worth. Putting a BIN, even a "high" one could actually be leaving money on the table. I know that even with a BIN of $750, I'd be a buyer for that book...It's a no brainer. Especially if you're the first one to market.

You don't want people emailing you saying "I would have given you X dollars more than your asking price".....

This is also a great time to be putting this book out there. Buyers have tax refund money, convention season is a few months away and there is still plenty of places where we're trapped indoors due to cold weather/snow...

Best of luck and congrats !..

If it sells for $750 BIN, the raw flood gates will open and feeding frenzy will begin.

  6. using TWD as a measuring stick is misleading. The popularity of the comic/show coincided with a cultural rise of interest in zombies. The book and show are a great product, but I think they caught lighting in a bottle the way that the once-in-a-generation cultural icons do; Star Wars, TMNT, Star Trek are a few. I'm not saying it can't happen again - there are a lot great books out and I'd love to see some of these creator owned books get big. I know other boardies feel the same way.

That being said, NBC programming is currently terrible, so if TSG is done well, it could be a hit for them.
