  1. Vermont has a very low $600 annual threshold for EBAY/PAYPAL sellers. IIRC, it comes from Paypal as a 1099. My sales exceed that, but not dramatically. I just give it to our tax person since the IRS gets a copy. I don't have a business tax number, so I'm sure I'm getting screwed a little bit. Just doing my part. The trade-off is the neatness of the various entities and experts helping me take care of which forms to submit. Other states have a higher threshold, if any. Hope this helps, David
  2. That may be coming, but I do not see any additional fee collection on sales tax as a seller on either EBAY or PAYPAL accounts right now. They do collect final value fee on shipping. But, that is sometimes offset by shipping discounts to sellers. Sellers do get an end of year IRS statement now, depending on your state. David
  3. I don't know, $11,000 isn't stupid money for some people. What's the difference between 3 and 11 thousand? Just a number. If they are buying and selling original comic art, collectors in the open market with the internet will decide what's best for them. Make an offer! David
  4. That is a great idea! I tend to lose track of interested buyers. This gives them a chance to note their interest for posterity. David S. Albright
  5. Another one that works...In The Vault...it sends the message that you are not entertaining offers. David
  6. This is such a first world problem, that I can't get too worked up about it, but why don't the auction houses get it? People who are bidding from home based on pictures from their laptop want shipping service. Not too hard to figure out.
  7. I used to spend hours at the local arcade on "Flip Flop", and walk away from the machine with over ten free games showing for the next player. Fun! David
  8. Bump for ending soon......The Little Angel story will sell, and only three days left! 8 pages of large art from 1957 by Mike Roy, comic book included. Great chance for some very cool art!
  9. The AOK reference stands for Albright Original Kollection, or Kards, or Komics, and the artman is for when I'm about the original komic art! Hence, aokartman. See pic, and click through a couple times for full flavor.... My ebay handle is bakeralbright never a negative the name is my wife's maiden name and my last name. David S. Albright
  10. Nice! I was not familiar with Tom Morgan art, Your piece with the Joe Sinnott inks is spectacular! Anthony has this Morgan Alpha Flight page for sale with Sasquatch. I should just buy it right now. But, life happens. David
  11. Interesting concept. Does this have the blessing of Watterson? He could send a single piece and make it a real blast. David
  12. On the topic of online discounts, I would encourage online shoppers to place items in your "cart", and then walk away for a second. With me, its just a mouseover to the toolbar, or something similar. Some sites use that opportunity to offer you a discount immediately on your item before you leave. Worth a try! It works for them, because they get a new customer. And you get a nice discount. David
  13. Thanks, That is a better version! I sure hope that site doesn't go behind a paywall. David
  14. I just checked the results here. Great auction. link to results Hake's auction Sorry, PIH auction. David
  15. Yeah, and unless they specifically have proxy bidding, expect that your bid will just be grabbed regardless of the current activity. They may not just bid up for you like you have expected on ebay or heritage.
  16. Bump for price drop of starting bid just $225. The pencil on her face might be a problem here, otherwise seems like a nice buy! Thanks, David
  17. It's refreshing to hear the enthusiasm of younger collectors! (I'm 65). Date of birth 1954. David
  18. Love to hear about art in hand. Unfortunate about the long shipping time, but thanks for the story! David
  19. I think original comic art has a ceiling because there is so much out there. An individual artist can control their output. The original comic art market is derived from countless sources of art, as opposed to the original artist, with some exceptions. The character-driven aspect also informs the prospect for sky-high pricing. It is quite a niche-y segment which prefers the knowledgeable, nostalgic collector, David
  20. 'CGC is also excited to add five new collections to the list of recognized pedigrees. This brings the total number to 59 pedigrees, all of which will be featured on the CGC pedigree site page next week.' 59 pedigrees, whoa. This was announced in August 2019, I definitely have not been keeping up. David
  21. Bump for new art added, and price drop. The Thanos art I never tracked down the actual card, but John Lucas confirmed the attribution for me, and his message is included along with some background info. Thanks, David
  22. I think there are some sellers (not me) who don't ship to boxes, so there could be some friction there in your collecting. Otherwise, I agree with the concept. Some collectors might not have a nearby box provider, plus there is a layer of expense with the box fee. David
  23. Agree, and the more material that is archived from the dustbin of history, the better understanding we have about the process of creating an early comic book. Living in the past is an issue, however. Some stuff has to go. Just not quite yet! David
