  1. I wasn't the first but I'm sure this is what happened to it.
  2. I've found a few graded at Universal 6.5 that have a "cover detached at one staple". Dealbreaker for me. I've never come across a 7.0 or higher with a detached cover staple that didn't convert to a Qualified grade. Is this some official stance by CGC or is even this fluid depending on other defects a book might have. Anyone have any better info this?
  3. After reading and following this tread for the past week, it has served as a reminder to me of the lengths some people will go perpetuate a scam and defraud people, and this is just comic books, what do you think is happening in the larger world where real money, lives and governments may be a stake? Unscrupulous behavior and corruption are rampant and is a sad statement on the state of humanity and there are very few gatekeepers that stand in the way of that corruption. Like the old adage goes, "rust never sleeps".
  4. Back in 2012 I sent a book in for reholder that was originally graded in 2002 and was in a first generation holder. What I didn't know was that somehow in the reordering process the certification number for that book got removed from the census. Problem is I didn't discover this until this year when I tried to look it up and nothing showed up much to my shock and surprise. CGC tried to help me out but couldn't restore it on the census with the correct grade date (which was sometime in 2002) so now I have a book in a 2nd generation holder with a grade date of this year.
  5. Could it just be the label was swapped and not the book? Take a 9.? MJ copy of the book, crack it out of outer slab, Take the original 9.8 copy crack it out of outer slab, take out the label of the lower grade MJ book put in the label of the 9.8 book, never taking the lower grade book out of the inner well, just the label, then resub the 9.8 copy as a new raw submission and put the lower grade MJ with the 9.8 label back in an outer slab and send it in for a re-slab with a ME submission asking for a new label too. My apologies if someone has already presented this scenario.
  6. I just watched this movie again. There are three different scenes where a small stack of Silver Age Flash comics are used. The last scene has a #179 on top which is contemporary with the time frame the scene was supposed to be taking place in. I found a link that goes through the Flash comics scenes, outlining what books were used. This is the link below. How the Flash Helped Catch a Crook in Catch Me If You Can (cbr.com)
  7. Forgot about this Flash connection in the movie "Catch Me If You Can".
  8. I always thought 179 was an interesting book that took a different direction and put an interesting take on breaking the 4th wall with the Flash meeting our very own Julius Schwartz in our reality.
  9. Isn't one a "cameo" and the other a "first full appearance" outside their own title??? Of course, which is which?
  10. Ran across this upcoming auction featuring model kits if anyone is interested. Both links should take you to the auction. Also includes many monster/horror/sci-fi/superhero/fantasy themed products; toys, books, magazines, cards, buttons, model kits both completed and unopened etc. Horror Magazines Comic Books Toys and More | Toys Trains and Other Old Stuff LLC https://auctions.toystrainsandotheroldstuff.com/auctions/1-834XQ7/horror-magazines-comic-books-toys-and-more
  11. Some of these issues are selling for outrageous prices. This one is the most sought after.
  12. There are several articles you can find concerning this subject, here's a link to one that delves into explaining it, and recently collectors have caught on to these unique Spanish language Spider-Man issues that don't follow the official Marvel continuity of our favorite Web-Slinger. Forgotten Masterpiece: EL SORPRENDENTE HOMBRE ARAÑA #128 – The Tom Brevoort Experience
  13. I see the sash behind the Thing, but as someone else mentioned the perspective is off, unless the Thing is a 2D cutout. Actually, the sash is what throws it off, if it wasn't there at all, the perspective represented works much better if you think the window is completely open.
  14. @themagicrobot Worldwide comics has 3 copies of #82 in VF+, two of them graded.
  15. Not just a panel, but the whole cover. This may have been posted somewhere earlier in this thread but this cover bears mentioning, nothing going on here makes any sense. Is the window the Thing is in open or closed? Must be open if Paste Pot Pete is getting to the Thing like that but the hashing above the Thing’s head is the same as the window next to it the Sandman is trying to get in that is obviously closed. But, if it’s open, why is the Sandman even bothering with that window and….well, how did this even pass to printing when you know they sometimes made other covers that were better than this be redone at times.
  16. I am going to make a correction to my earlier post. It does look like they are providing back cover scans on some select auction listings in their current auction.
  17. Tony Stark demonstrating how to remove auction house stickers from the back of your slabs.
  18. I have listed on CLink myself and they provide more than one image allowed per listing. Why they don't put an image of the back cover on their auction listings just makes no sense and as many have pointed out in this thread, may be hurting their and their consignor's bottom line. I thought maybe with Steve Borock (he is with CLink now right?) coming on board with them some of these obvious sources of contention with their business model might be brought more up to speed with what is a no brainer with everyone else, but alas, nothing has changed so far.
  19. Beauty is in the eye of the Beyonder.
  20. Recent pick up from Circle City Comics on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Mid-grade at best but still a nice copy. They got in this collection of mid 60's DCs from a local collector. They all had one feature in common, you could tell the books had their pages folded around to the back of the book when the books were read thus causing a lot of stress near the spine on the front cover and some spine roll. Of the few copies of the Flash in this collection, this one was probably in the best shape.
  21. What's your phone number, I need to call you (after I get done looking at what just sold on ebay for some serious $$$$$$$$$$)? I'll wait on the couch for your reply!
