  1. Clearly I have no life and follow these books way too much! A few times a year I check the census to see what new 9.8s have been added for these multiple printings. A few big 9.8s have been added to the census since last January. Dream big!
  2. A year or two ago, I bought a nice looking copy of Justice League America #70, 3rd printing on eBay. I had aspirations of following in @Iconic1s footsteps, who had made two 9.8 examples of this tough book through his own submissions. I was very happy for him but also, deep down inside, a little jealous. The book arrived safely and looked beautiful. I thought I had a great candidate for pressing. A day or two later, I took a closer look and noticed a color breaking stress mark on the spine. No way this copy would get the desired 9.8, even with a press. Then last week, when I least expected it, a 9.8 third printing was listed on eBay, for a very reasonable price. I now have the first, second and third printings in CGG 9.8! I would love to try and Iconic1s footsteps by submitting a raw copy of the 4th printing to CGC, and make a 9.8. The few raw copies on eBay right now do not look good. As of this writing, he is the first and only one to be successful, it took him several tries to get the lone 9.8 on the census - the 4th printing is not an easy book. This is my childhood copy, from a Toys “R” Us two pack. The book looks good but the spine has several color breaking stress marks. I love checking books off this list. For my new JLA 3rd printing, it turns out the eBay seller is YouTuber James from Mint-Hunter Comics. At about 1:54 he mentions the JLA 70, turns out the book was only listed for about four minutes before I snagged it. I have enjoyed watching his videos over the last few years and I’m thrilled to have a book from him. Happy Hunting! P.S. I have a sexy coffee table.
  3. This is why context matters! In this case, the whole page instead of one panel.
  4. I second making a new, separate set only for the Death of Superman 30th Anniversary books.
  5. @Jayman Congratulations! Thank you sharing, you have an awesome set. I never knew about most of these. Well done.
  6. @ADAMANTIUM Too bad Clerks never mentioned Roadhouse! To be fair, when Clerks came out, Roadhouse was in that awkward phase where it wasn’t new and it wasn’t classic yet. To everyone else reading this, Roadhouse is a recurring inside joke in a thread about Superman’s 90s mullet in the Copper section of the boards. Anyway, I’m not even supposed to be here today. P.S. Congratulations to the 2023 winners.
  7. 2023 Registry Award Winner-Gate? I kid, I kid.
  8. No email or posting yet letting us know who the winners are?!
  9. He did! Honestly, I had to google that to be sure.
  10. He did do an AC1 cover homage for AC900. Him doing another one for AC1000 would have been better than the 999 variant covers we got of that issue.
  11. I finally got around to reading this one. Wow, just wow! I read new Batman books regularly starting in 2002 but I stopped getting new Bat books from my LCS early in the Grant Morrison run, Batman #669 was the last issue I scooped up. I don’t recall why I stopped, I missed the Resurrection of Ra’s Al Ghul, RIP, Batman Inc and the New 52 stuff. I did eventually read the Court of Owls and Death of the Family saga in TPB. I did happen to get in on Rebirth when they all came out, thanks to being at my LCS at the right time. I then stopped getting new comics in 2019, looks I’ve missed some good stuff!
  12. Turns out I have Batman #393, totally forgot about it.
  13. I have got to get my hands on Batman #393-94! Paul Gulacy makes a nice spread.
  14. Congratulations! I foolishly passed on a raw (maybe a 9.4/9.6) at my LCS about 5 or 6 years ago. I thought $30 was a little steep. If I only knew then what I know now.
  15. Top spine corner has a binding tear. Back cover had a dust shadow and the are some color breaking folds.
  16. DC should do a deluxe hardcover for Batman #400!
  17. I’ve been having fun reading these. I can’t believe I didn’t start with volume 1. I also got these back in 2020 and I just now removed the shrink wrap on volume 3.
