  1. This is a sad story and I feel for the seller. I hope with the word getting out that the book is returned. I know this is not really relevant, but I was reminded of the security at a coin show I went to years ago. You could look up at the convention ceiling and see guys up on the catwalk with binoculars watching the floor. Again, not relevant and I have no idea what security is like at a comic con.
  2. I’ve had CIS since 2011, I’m working on my first claim with them for a CGC book damaged during shipping. I’ll post here on how it goes.
  3. I got this set several years ago. I too was very impressed with the time and effort put in by Mr. Gerber. If I remember correctly, he spent most of the 80s assembling the photographs.
  4. CGC really needs to stop placing comic books in inner wells that do not fit properly. The top corner used to be beautiful. This is the second book I’ve had this year that’s arrived damaged due to shaken comic syndrome. The before and after on this staple is brutal.
  5. The art work is the same but the title header has a different color scheme.
  6. Scored a big one! This example is the first 9.8 of the second printing in the CGG census, it’s also one of my favorite Riddler covers. Bane shoots up Riddler with the super steroid, Venom, and lets him have at it with Batman.
  7. Scored this baby off eBay. This is the first example of the second printing of this issue to get a 9.8.
  8. Thank you. It’s a bummer but at least it wasn’t a really expensive book.
  9. Scratch that. Why?! Am I crazy?! When I opened the package from CGC I smiled, I was so happy with the contents, four 9.8 examples of beautiful books. Later on I examined the books again and noticed the top staple. There was a small tear, it was not there when I submitted the book. I took before photos on this one. Not cool. It stinks but it’s not the end of the world. I may have lost money on the pressing fee but I had a grading credit still, and the book was only $3.00, not worth bringing up to CGC. The damage may have occurred during pressing, or came about from shaken comic syndrome. I thought about this on and off for a few weeks and decided to crack the book out. I also couldn’t in good conscience sell this book in its holder on eBay. Life goes on. I have a few labels to return to CGC some day.
  10. I’ve also gotten back into multiple printings for another set. Currently 1 of 2 in 9.8. This guy should arrive next week, first 9.8 in the census.
  11. I forgot to mention it, but two really big ones were added to the collection a few months back. These illusive second printings were gifts from a great friend. I’m still floored by this amazing gesture. I still have a ways to go on the multiple printings, and most of the ones I still need are very hard to find and most likely will be very expensive if they come up for sale! Crossing these two additions off the list was a huge boost to my set.
  12. This one is quite the exaggeration. The guy in the wheelchair is actually Bruce Wayne, who’s back had been broken by Bane recently. Bruce bestows the mantle of the bat to Jean-Paul Valley, who has issues and becomes a mad man in the bat suite.
  13. I love this cover! In short, the Joker and Scarecrow have teamed up for some shenanigans. Scarecrow douses bats with fear gas, which sends Batman into a frenzy because Joker killed the second Robin, Jason Todd. This frenzy turns to rage and bats beats the poo out of Joker.
  14. It’s supposed to be Killer Crock. Bane is making his presence known in Gotham, he messing everyone up!
