  1. With respect...

The first issue is posted online and it is good, objectively... I find that artists generally don't try to maximize profit from their art... they tend to be in it for other reasons...

    http://tephlonfunk.com/manga/

People have received their copies, a lot of people...

I really don't think you can print a hundred comics for 200 dollars... I know that it tends to cost less the more you print, i.e. 1000 is nearly the same cost as 2000.

The time to have capitalized was this last week and I haven't seen any for sale...

  2. Silly

I am also not sure why this is "silly " Aren't we all here to discuss moderns heating up? I checked out the webpage for this comic, it looks pretty cool and there is some talk of it becoming a show or something. Have you read it? If not then I would put you in the category of all those phony ESPN writers who just believed the Wells Report without actually reading it. What if it's awesome? I think you are dismissing it a bit too early. Is that just because a page others than this forum was talking about it first? Honestly if you have any real argument against this book please enlighten me.

    Print run of 100?

I know, but they were really surprised by the response.... They printed those up as kind of samples to sell give them time to get out their kickstarter stuff. I mean they aren't some comic label that should know better. I don't think they planned to make this a scarce collectors item, it's actually pretty expensive way to do things to keep printing 100 comic print runs and sell them for 5 dollars each... I tried to tell them that the 2nd prints of 150 wouldn't last long at all.....

They have some cool hoodies up...

    Rob

    How much was each issue?

5 bucks with cheap shipping, couldn't have been very profitable......

The have a 'demo' self published book out... I know others have posted about this, but the news is that the print run is only 100 copies...

When this becomes a show, as it looks like it is...

At the moment of my posting this, I think they might still have a few copies...

    http://tephlonfunk.com/shop/

Looks like a couple you scored a 1st print, but I have it on good authority that a new printing ( which will be discernible from the last printing ) will come out with a print run of only 150.... I tried to tell them to print more, but they said they are so busy right now with everything....

  5. I believe the Scooby Doo print run was listed at 7000. I have two on reserve at my shop!

Yes but in my area 2 of the 5 comic shops knew about this and upped their orders.... so the print run will be a little larger then the other issues. 9 or 10k? Which is still tiny for Harley Quinn. Also remember this isn't the suicide squad harley, this is cartoon harley, the original. I think every Harley fan will probably need one of these.... there will not be enough to go around, to me that's a no brainer...

  6. Scooby do team up #12 has the cartoon versions of harley and ivy in it....

I think that this comic has had such a small print run that it will be pretty hard to get when it comes out...

I ordered one for my daughter, well and for me. I know she'll enjoy the team up with PI and HQ as much as I will with Scooby. I'm not too sure it will catch on fire or even heat up at all but it looks fun. Thought I heard the print run on the Scooby team ups was around 6000. Not massive but not very small either. This issue may even have gotten an order bump.

Oh I'm sure it got an order bump.....but 6000 for something that has harley and ivy? That's tiny... I'm also thinking that the cartoon style is kind of a different Harley, it's the original, the one we grew up with...

If you are a Harley fan, your going to get one of these ( maybe 5 ). Which makes me pretty sure there aren't going to be enough to go round...

The earlier ones with johnny quest, jetsons have small price bumps, because at that print run size it doesn't take much...

Look at hulk 13 with the deadpool x-over... deadpool appearing in a moderate sized print run comic= price bump....

  7. This is the part I dislike the most about ebay...

a business does well on consistency, you have a burger shop... people come for your burgers, you have to switch to Chicken because your supplier has had a corporate meeting where someone who wants to make a a name for themselves has managed to switch everything to emphasize Chicken...

So you grumble, but make the switch to Chicken, changing all your signs and such... getting Chicken customers, but wait three months down the line they switch back to Burgers.

This is what happened to me with Ebay... They started with these wonderful auction/bins you could set yourself 9.99 auction bin 10.99.... then they decided the liked 30 percent between the auction and the Bin... ( Gee not like we should have the power to determine for ourselves what sells well ). Next they started emphasizing BINS, all the free listings where BINS... So I switched out of Auctions to BINS, people said ebay wanted to get away from Auctions...Then they decided you could only get free Auction listings for collectables... And finally this excessive costs for Auctions....

HOW about some consistency ebay.... so I can run a business, where the main problem isn't trying to deal with ebay inconsistencies...

I know wrong place for this diatribe... but what ever, not like other people don't derail the convo for less rational reasons

  8. TMNT 44 is hot because IGN, EW and the likes had coverage of the book. The book got major press. I havent read any press release article which indicated that he is gonna die, nor was the book dubbed - the death of Donatello, nor was it bagged in black. They all suggested that he MAY die, but no one was duped!

The reason why this book sold and still is selling so well is because it got alot of press.

What followed was a barrage of bloggers informing everyone that Donatello got clipped..

And then obviously everyone on eBay followed suit.

I dont think anyone is misinformed.. and I dont see prices of the book dropping

This will go down in price just like any other hot book does when it stops being cool. But at this point I suspect that most of those who thought donatello is dead already know that donatello is not dead

It got a lot of press because people still went with the misinformation to keep the flip going. Honestly as a seller I would have corrected any heading and information going out as soon as I knew the book is not the death of Don immediately. An honest seller is better than a liar IMO.

    Good God..

This is the CGC forum, right?

( Opportunistic scumbags looking to turn a quick profit off the uninformed? )

    Jebus...

The last few I sold were to people who have been in the game for a while ( high number feedbacks )....I think people have it a little wrong, mixing up symptoms for the causes....

A comic is hot because it's limited and everyone is talking about it...We talk about a death a first appearance etc... But it's the Talking that makes it hot, people want to see for themselves, have it for themselves. It does not matter if it's an event that can be written in overstreet.... it matters if there's buzz...So as long as Donatello's mortality is the subject of scrutiny and conversation...

  9. Looking around locally, Descender cover B seems the one to watch. One retailer confessed that the way the ordering was done for this, they missed that they could order those. Around here they were all on short supply...

Brings to mind what happened with cover B of black science #2 and manifest destiny Ottley variants...

  10. Edge of Spider-Verse #2 and the variant seem to be on fire lately.

Slott is messing with ASM again. Gwen might be taking over.

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/10/03/why-gerado-sandoval-ended-up-at-marvel-instead-of-dc-and-the-spoilers-future-of-spider-gwen/

zzz Yet another Slott gimmick. They need to get back to doing great stories like they used to.

Looks like the true evil mastermind in Spidey's world is Dan Slott.....I wonder when he's actually gonna step to Spidey in his world....

    DAN SLOT is the TASKMASTER....

  11. can not figure this out...

I was pricing my 2nd print of TMNT the IDW version...

    and found this:

    http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=5185348&fpart=2355

my first thought was ha ha...right...

But I could not find it for sale for cheap, is it really that rare that there's only like 3 copies on ebay?

I checked out that thread once.

lol sorry, I should check my links...
