  1. In addition to a few pages running in PREVIEWS, there were other previews online -- CBR, BleedingCool, and a couple others. No preview published in any comics.
  2. The store between 7th and 8th ave didn't put the limit sign up until about 8:30AM. They let me keep the two I had in my stack of books because I got in under the wire. It probabaly didn't hurt that I spent about $100 either. My mother tried to buy 5 copies from Midtown and they shut her down! She was like, "Don't I get special dispensation for giving birth to the writer?!" And they were like, "'Fraid not, ma'am. Now step away from the wall and let others browse."
  3. Yesterday I learned that issue #2 completely sold out at the distributor level -- within the first 24 hours of release. Just like issue #1. If we're going to make TODD an ongoing series we need to keep this up. But retailers need to order the book! I walked into a very popular shop in Burbank, CA yesterday and they hadn't ordered any copies of issue 2 beyond what was on their regular customers' pull lists. ZERO. A book where issue #1 sold out on the day of release and you don't order any shelf copies of issue #2? The mind boggles. Please tell your retailers to order more #3 -- the final order cutoff is this coming Monday 2/18! Thank you all! With so many new issue #1s coming out from everybody, it's difficult for smaller shops to order accordingly on new releases (especially Indies). A PREVIEW would help immensely! even a PDF preview before FOC of any new Indie title. I'll push Indies all day long over Marvel & DC but I need to know what I'm selling. A bit of Gumph in Previews doesn't help. Great book by the way Ken (thumbs u Now, if I'd seen a preview before FOC it would have been my top ordered Indie for the month. Just a thought. (and a quick add after re-reading the post) We didn't up orders on #2 because by the time I'd got read #1 the FOC had passed. Us little retailers barely have time to eat let alone read titles on release day. over Please find this constructive not negative! I'm glad to hear from a retailer on this! Thank you for taking the time to rant -- because I want to learn how to make this process easier on retailers. So if I sent a preview to you each issue that would help? How many pages minimum? And how long before FOC would you need it?

  6. Well, MK and I are huge Chew fans, so we love to be in such company. And Bleeding Cool seems to agree... http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/02/13/fourteen-thoughts-about-fourteen-comics-manhattan-projects-morning-glories-todd-the-ugliest-kid-on-earth-the-end-times-of-bram-and-ben-wolverine-the-x-men-cable-x-force-batgirl-katana-po/
  7. And ends with this: I don't know whether to or That review was a GIFT! You'll see what I mean on Feb 20, when TODD issue 1 (2nd Print) hits stores. I hope you quote him on the front cover My favorite part was "...the most ill-advised release in comic book history..." Look, I'm a glass half-full kind of guy -- just glad we made history.
  8. Would probably buy a tshirt too. So long as it said something irreverent on it. We are working on a great shirt -- will post here once it's finalized.

  10. Thanks, Kachoo -- I've yet to read Li'l Depressed Boy, but I should take a look. And that action figure you posted is AMAZING. Where can I get that?
  11. If you get a chance to come to the UK, a con called Thought Bubble is really good. Nice size, plenty to do, see, people to talk to, meet etc but still reasonably intimate, like it's pure comics, not over-taken by hollywood so still has a soul It's usually around November time. http://thoughtbubblefestival.com ThoughtBubble looks great. Thanks for the suggestion!
  12. We've got to talk to McFarlane about the action figure!
  13. You can also follow me and TODD on Twitter -- @KenKristensen @ToddTheUgliest And please like Todd on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/todd.theugliestkidonearth
  14. BTW -- This board, and specifically ThoseBackPages, gets props in the Bonus Materials section of the digital edition of #2 for being the first to publicly point out issue #2's cover homage. Just finalized the digital Bonus stuff today -- included inked version of the #2 cover and inked interior pages from #3. Beautiful stuff in b&w.
  15. Yes, #1 is back for a 2nd printing -- in stores Feb 20th. Here's a link where you can see the beautiful new cover MK did just for the 2nd printing. http://alternativemindz.com/?s=todd+the+ugliest
  16. If you want to buy issue #2 via mail order I think Heavy Ink still has some left: http://heavyink.com/comic/27151-Todd-The-Ugliest-Kid-On-Earth-2
  17. Interesting. If we do it as a series of minis then continue the numbering, eh? Noted, and thank you. Ideally, if we do it as a series of minis, as storytellers we'll want no more than 5 or six months between the end of one mini and the start of the next mini.
  18. The inspiration was really my nephew. This week I'll be co-hosting the Geekscape podcast -- Thursday night (2/7) -- which is broadcast live too, and I'm sure I'll tell the story there: http://www.geekscape.net/ If you can't tune in to Geekscape...here's a couple interviews that have come out in the last few weeks where MK and I talk about how we came up with Todd: http://www.previewsworld.com/Home/1/1/71/917?articleID=130951 http://www.comiclist.com/index.php/news/interview-with-creators-of-todd-the-ugliest-kid-on-earth
  19. If you're contributing to piracy by downloading or uploading comics, and presuming you like the comic, then please at least do something to help it survive. Shout about it on your internets. Endorse it with "This comic is so good, I swear if my internets were broke and I weren't able to torrent it I'd pay for it!" That might not answer your question, but it's the best I can do right now.
  20. Excellent -- I promise issue #2 is much better. Thanks for the kind welcome!
  21. Hell. And. Yes. I went to a match in Melbourne a few years ago. While you're explaining the rules you can also explain meat pies. And I will buy them as well.
  22. Ongoing discussions with the printer about new technologies enabling us to make an "Absolute Extremely-Hard(cover)-and-then-Suddenly-Sticky Edition". Will keep u informed.
  23. We are putting our con list together -- Emerald City is our first (March 1-3) and then we'll definitely be at Wondercon, San Diego and NYCC. Maybe HeroesCon? C2E2? What's the St Louis con like? Any other suggestions?
  24. Ok - YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON TO CALL IT! There's actually a whole bit about the #48 homage on our Bonus Features in the digital edition of issue #2. But we've been waiting for months for someone to mention it. You give us your address and you get a signed print of that cover. Send your address to FeelUgly@gmail.com We love u.
  25. Bring us your ugly kids! Here's the facebook event link: https://www.facebook.com/events/137346663094570/ Hope to see you all there... -K
