    That Magik remarque is a bad example - he had to draw on black for one...so far, though. I've only seen three 'remarques' (and 58 blank covers) - the Magik, a Longshot (where he had to stick his head into a tiny space) and this awesome Creature From The Black Lagoon, where he went to color. I've said it before and I don't think you can blame Arthur or anyone for not sending in blanks. All the info was out there - examples from his past signing in 2019, the two examples shown on the announcement  for this signing...if someone didn't find that those were worth $130 then I don't know what to say, because in my eyes even those sample sketches were above and beyond what anyone could expect for that price. Especially when you compare the hundreds charged by guys like Jason Fabook or Jim Lee, etc for literally profile doodles.

    That Creature is awesome. My fingers are crossed for my remarques especially the Godzilla, Gumby and Pokey ones.

  2. In other news, my 10 book remarques submission (NB. regular comic books, not blank sketch copies) are finally back with CGC and in for grading.

    This will be interesting, not particularly confident on the grades, especially given the aforementioned challenges with this signing.

    Got a surprise in the mail and got all 3 of my comics back.  All 9.8 and all beautiful.  CGC didn't even send me a shipping notification.  It just arrived at the door.  Sure enough, when I checked my account, the Art Adam's books had shipped.  This is my favorite of the 3.  I'd like to think that he enjoyed drawing this.

    Love it. I asked for a Godzilla Remarque on this book.

    One that should have been.

    There are several books like that, that seemed destined for Still Only 35c, but reverted to 40c pricing (or 12p UK price) within the usual Still Only 35c starburst.

    These include:

    • Battlestar Galactica 3
    • Black Panther 15
    • Captain Marvel 62
    • Daredevil 158
    • Marvel Super-Heroes 80
    • Master Of Kung Fu 76
    • Thor 283
  5. *UPDATE* This was actually a signing facilitated at a Con by this team and looks like they got their books back quick smart as all the books were done and submitted at that Con. We perhaps should have gone with this approach rather than through CGC. *UPDATE*

    Not sure if this is the same CGC signing, but someone else got their book back in November. Apparently the whole thing was "seamless."

    In 1972 Marvel decided to publish comics specifically for the UK in-house (by what became to be known as Marvel UK). First up was The Mighty World of Marvelwhich reprinted The Hulk, Spider-man and Fantastic Four with some new editorial along the lines of Stan's Soapbox and letters pages;

    img089.thumb.jpg.bafb3a0b47fdccd3e589105d4729808f.jpg

    Previous transfers must have been popular (or cheap) as MWOM #1 came with a free Green-skinned monster iron-on transfer. Presumably Marvel thought the Hulk would not be a house-hold name in the UK hence the transfer being touted as "Green-skinned monster" but it was in fact the Hulk;

    img090.thumb.jpg.f5b6bbeaeed27886920836500d975063.jpg

    MWOM sold well (print run 325,000) so these transfers are not uncommon still in the UK and pop up for sale fairly regularly despite a lot ending up on t-shirts and being very fragile. #2 came with a Spider-man iron on transfer;

    img092.thumb.jpg.3174ec1a15c180028cd6bb11d3f1ce91.jpg

    After great transfers of two of it's features MWOM #3 free gift wasn't a fantastic Four transfer but a set of stickers, the art isn't great and we can only wonder what a Fantastic Four transfer would have been like;

    img094.thumb.jpg.52c9fc4a1e863fc94260947c875590d9.jpg

    I still prefer the stickers in this instance. Having handled those transfers in person they are extremely fragile and will easily lift off/crinkle/crack. When I submitted to CGC I asked them to remove for pressing and reinsert when completed.

    hey all,

    first time posting on this thread...

    just got this beauty back from CGC...I think this is the highest graded copy (of a grand total of 7)...

    apologies for the darkness of the photo - it looks way better in hand :)

    AND it does contain the free gift too :manhero:

    I'm hot on your tail with these two recent submissions back from Sarasota. And yes, both have the free gifts (Hulk and Spider-Man transfers respectively).

    I recently received back this Longshot sketch by Arthur Adams. I love the sketch. My only complaint would be that I submitted a slabbed 9.8 copy and it came back 9.6.

    Great remarque, but that grade drop is exactly what we are all afraid of with the way CGC are handling/treating this "private" signing. All these books should be at CGC and the work done there rather than shipping to Art, risking this sort of issue with downgrades on our prized books from all the unnecessary handling.

  9. Not sure if there is a thread on this already (if so, please feel free to update here and direct me), but just in case, thought I'd start one. If anyone else has any mystery sigs, please feel free to add here as well.

    Wanted to kick off with this unknown signature I have in my copy of Avengers Annual #7. Anyone got any ideas on what this signature might be? Doesn't seem to match any of the creators in the book, but wondered if it might be an earlier variant of the Jim Starlin sig.

    I emailed them, like suggested by @CGC Mike, here is what was said,

    "Thank you for your email. I'm sorry to hear that you received conflicting information. Due to the volume of submissions of remarques that Art Adams received, he was unable to complete them all at his signing. We are currently sending the books to the artist in batches to be worked on. Once books are completed we expedite them through the grading and encapsulation process. I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced and for the delay with the service. I can confirm that the books are actively being worked on and we are doing everything in our power to get the books back to clients as soon as possible."

    No scheduling other signing, no date for possible completion, but they are going through the mail, being worked on in free time, and there is no supervision. Why were we told, on more than one occasion that they were NOT with Art, and that there would be another signing?

    Agreed 100%, I'm not happy that they are basically shipping out my books to Art rather than hosting him at their offices and extremely concerned on the grades that these are going to get because of the handling, etc. CGC continue to drop the ball on this one...
