  1. 7.9 on IMDB. That's higher than I expected.
  2. I sold a book to Ryan, and he paid with the speed of lightning! Thanks so much for being such an awesome boardie!
  3. My dad actually introduced Jaws to me when I was a kid back in the 80's. I remember getting chills from the line, "Smile, you son of a...". It's always been one of my favorite films, and will always remind me of my dad.
  4. Why does everyone in this movie look like they should be in a Where Are They Now special of Jerry Springer?
  5. …because everyone gets chairs with their character's name on it? ...because they misspelled Havok?
  6. Actually, it does matter, because you're confusing CONTENT with CHARACTER STATUS. Saying that GOTG had great trailers has NOTHING to do with the level of popularity of the characters in it, and has everything to do with the content that was created/incorporated, and how it was portrayed. Nobody (well, almost nobody) cared about the GOTG characters before the movie hit, but it was the quality of the content seen in the trailers and movie that made this film a blockbuster. If the Ant-Man trailer is "mediocre", then that's because both the trailer and movie itself were created in a mediocre fashion, and has absolutely nothing to do with Ant-Man's popularity status as a character. There have been several comic book movies that revolve around A list characters, that have tanked: Hulk, Daredevil, Green Lantern, Catwoman, etc. You know why they tanked? Because the quality of the content was garbage, and that had nothing to do with their popularity status. With all that said, care to elaborate how the Ant-Man character himself is responsible for a "mediocre" trailer, or at least contributed to the mediocrity?
  7. GOTG The difference is that the GoTG trailers were great and helped build even more buzz for what turned out to be a fantastic movie. I'm with Gatsby77 on this - the movie is about a month away and the lack of a concerted marketing blitz from Marvel speaks volumes as how much faith Marvel actually has in this movie. That's an entirely different matter. We're discussing C list characters, not marketing tactics. People are trying to point out that Ant-Man being a C list character is making a negative impact on the general interest in the film, but being a C list character has nothing to do with it as GOTG has clearly demonstrated. Sure, people might go see a Batman or Superman movie, because It's Batman or Superman, and that's the only reason they need, but does character obscurity constitute failure or lack of interest in a film? Again...GOTG.
  8. This film was a product of it's era. It contains attributes that cannot be recreated, and any attempt to do so will result in a "forced" production. PS. I love the Rock!
  9. I'm neutral about any film yet to be released because if you pre-judge it based upon pre-release material, there's virtually no chance you'd ever enjoy it. The fact that you assumed I had a bias in the opposite direction of your own tells me that it'd have to be one of the top 5 superhero films in history to ever break through the wall of pessimism you've already built for yourself. But you do this repeatedly in these threads for multiple films, so I know you get off on it and you'll never stop. I only do it for stuff that sucks. Soooo...what other threads do I do this in? I'm a Fantastic Four fan. The title got me into comics. I want to see it treated with respect and reverence. I want the majesty that Stan & Jack built and that John Byrne revived to play out on the big screen. The property and characters deserve no less. This movie, whatever it is, is NOT the Fantastic Four. I think I'd be just as mad as you If they continuously butchered my beloved X-Men (even though they did with the third installment). I'd also have the same "I'll believe when I see it" skeptic feelings.
  10. ...and even they'll walk out. Sorry, incorrect. I'm excited for this movie (thumbs u Yeah. I'm more optimistic about this one than I ever was for the previous films.
  11. Huge fan base of Anna Paquin as Rogue? The Rogue character herself. I'm not a fan of either the comic, nor Ms. Paquin's, versions. Interesting. I'm a huge fan of Rogue (in the comics), and I'm so unhappy with the way she was portrayed in the movies, I would never buy this "Rogue" version of the film. I would assume that most Rogue fans feel the same.
  12. Who cares. People will flock to the theaters. I guarantee! Maybe annoying teenage girls will, but that's not the kind of audience I want to share the theater with. Actually I'm not sure he's a huge draw for teenage girls either. I think he appeals a little bit to a lot of different types of people, but not too strongly with anyone group. He's the best part of 'This is the End' Let me put it another way then. I don't want to share a theater with people who think Tatum playing Gambit is a good idea. I'm confused - personally, everything I've seen Tatum in has been awesome. What movies has he been less than decent in? I dont have a problem with Tatum. I have a problem with Tatum playing Gambit. Just because an actor is good, doesnt automatically make them the right choice for a particular role. Btw, Tatum is a good actor, not an amazing one, and I personally feel that it takes a special actor to pull off a complex character like Gambit. Not to mention that he only got the gig because the producer has the hots for him. I mean, did they even hold auditions? I doubt it.
