  1. And what are you drawing this from? Completed auctions on Ebay are very lack luster. 1. book sold out at diamond day of release 2. book sells for double cover online 3. variants for this book are doing stupid things. For the three things you mention, why is this so??? Just the star power behind it?? Good preview/synopsis that people are reacting to?? Something else?? I guess this is what I meant by my initial question.
  2. And what are you drawing this from? Completed auctions on Ebay are very lack luster. Just from the talk on the board here. It was a title that's been brought up a few times. Was wondering why it's sold out, getting attention, etc.
  3. Look up Larrys report from two weeks ago. He explains it pretty well. 12 REASONS TO DIE #1 BLACK MASK COMICS (W) Ghostface Killah & Various (A) Breno Tamura & Various (CA) Christopher Mitten, Ronald Wimberly 12 Reasons To Die is a brutal tale of gangsters, betrayal, and one vengeful soul hunting the 12 Dons who conspired his murder. Created by Ghostface Killah and produced by RZA, this hard-knuckled horror/crime hybrid follows multiple timelines - and multiple artists - in the quest for revenge. It wasn't my cup of tea as a read, BUT gangsta's n rappers are gonna want it. The underlined part?? There are a bunch of variants. The 1 in 4 looks like the one to grab.
  4. I, too, would also like you to continue posting your weekly lists. I enjoy the insight into some issue that aren't discussed much on this, and other, boards. The under-valued issues are a good example of this.
  5. PS. This was a joke, in response to Jade saying I was talking like a retired linebacker. PPS. I did play Outside for a few seasons. Great position to play.
  6. Now comics: Why is Twelve Reasons to Die so hot???
  7. Who are you kidding here? There was no reason for your post originally. If those are what sales in his shop then thats what sales. He actually pimps certain books in his shops. All you had to do was ask him was this -------> I was just curious why Batman, Avengers, Justice League, X-Men, etc weren't top ten sellers. Not list a page of data trying to discredit him and thats how it reads. 1- The reason was to find out why such a difference. Curiosity was the reason. If he PIMPS those books, then that's a reason that I was interested to know. Like, do you really think I'm trying to lie to a bunch of strangers??? To what end??? I mean, if I had a shop, and said my top NEW comics sales ( by VOLUME) were: My Little Pony, Mind MGMT, Daredevil, Ren and Stimpy, Green Wake, The Gobots, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Star Trek,Spawn, Red Sonja, Learn Calculus, Bible Stories, etc etc, a conscientiousness person would probably stop and think "wow, that's very different from the majority of comic shops/comic sales numbers. I wonder why it is so different." I don't think someone would think "wow, this guy is lying" Like, what would Larry have to gain by lying about his new comic sales numbers??? 2-With that post, I was asking why the difference. And how am I trying to discredit him?? I didn't say that he lied about his numbers? I noted that it was strange. (like, I don't know, maybe Boston-ites love Nightwing instead of Batman??) I'm a visual/stats and numbers type of person. I find it easier to see percentages, rankings, etc, rather than talking about this title vs that title. I have a science background. Hence, the curiosity. I'm not a business. I don't own a store. I have nothing riding on the accuracies of Larry's reports. I deal with less than 10 copies each of "investment" comics. He deals with 10's of thousands. I don't have a feud with him. I've seen him write on the boards for all of the two months that I've been on. What motivation could I POSSIBLY have for trying to "discredit" his report??? Please, explain to me Fastball (or Jaded or Larry for that matter). And I'm not a "troll". I have family, work, rugby, comics and video games when I have a chance, etc to deal with. If I want to get a rise out of a complete stranger, I can think of much better ways than posting publicly recorded stats.
  8. I am not sure when you read that, but I must have missed it. Dukes taking the time to point out every discrepency he see's on somebody's top 10 list seems a little bit out of the way to me. DOn't know why he would try to discredit a known dealer's info unless there is a past history. (thumbs u How am I trying to discredit Lawrence?? I don't even know the guy, or live close to the store ( or even order from him online). I was wondering why the difference existed. It was explained by two people, and it made sense. And, it's not like I put a giant effort into this. I took two minutes to copy numbers. Without these, then my question wouldn't make as much sense. It makes it easier , visually, to see the difference. And the guy has like 10 lists. It's not like I picked them apart in depth. I don't see why you think this was a massive statistical undertaking?? I was just curious why Batman, Avengers, Justice League, X-Men, etc weren't top ten sellers. You would expect stores best sellers to GENERALLY follow print run ratios, for the most part. If they don't, then my interest lies in what makes a particular store or region different. (Ie Dale Eaglesham lives near Ottawa, therefore, local stores ordered more copies of the latest Alpha Flight series, etc) Since it was by week, and not month, this made more sense.
  9. ??what obvious reasons?? I asked about a discrepancy, it was explained by two people. Not sure why you wouldn't continue to post. ??
  10. As you can see Deion, Larry "the comic guy" Doherty ran a screen play on the Modern Boardies. He made them think he was running with a monthly listing, when in reality he passed with a weekly list, for sales totalling 5 days. There's been controversy in this veterans career, but of late, he's giving the fans what they want, with his signature "weekly updates" list. Now, on to Demarcus Ware and his amazingness...........
  11. Okay, I'm seeing Bleeding Cool's list, which is for two days, not the whole month. Makes more sense now.
  12. How is this possible? Is it just me, or does it seem like Lawrence must have the biggest niche customers, or that his customers have a drastically different preference in comics than the rest of the country??? I know it's not going to match up 1-10 exactly, but you'd figure at least half of his top sales would be in the top 20 (there's only 1!! issue in the top 20 actually!!) Weird....... #1 - Age of Ultron #8. "Alpha Dog" Marvel's latest crossover is a big hit with fans. (it is Age of Apocalypse-sque) 2nd place ranking, 175,000 copies.color] #2 - Nova #4. "Old School Marvel" flavor is appealing. 40th place ranking, 47,000 copies. #3 - Iron Man #10. Secret origin of Tony Stark. 47th place, 44,000 copies. #4 - Wolverine & the X-Men #29. 52nd place, 42,000 copies. #5 - Batgirl #20. Gail Simone is DC's top seller this week. (A few months back they fired her.) Fans adore her. 30th place, 52,000 copies #6 -Cable and X-Force #8 . Hopless has buzz as an X-scribe. 43rd place, 43,000 copies. #7 -Thunderbolts #9. 57th place, 39,000 copies #8 - Gambit #12. Gambit lovers gonna get Gambit. 112th place, 20,000 copies #9 - Nightwing #20. DC has only two Bat-titles in my top ten speaks volumes of the companies staggering dip in quality. 38th place, 48,000 copies #10 -Regular Show #1. Indy "rock star" of the day. Sold to the existing "Wednesday's Warriors" & an entirely new crowd. Looks like it has a print run of 56,000 copies, which would put it at 26th place. OK, Your rankings are monthly Diamond wholesale US sales. ( UK & newstand not included) Mine are weekly single storefront retail sales. It's a sell through list for the first five days of release. ( at ONE shop ) NOT sold at the distributor level list. Bleeding cool's list is VERY similar. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/05/19/the-bleeding-cool-bestseller-list-ultron-ages-nicely/ If my list bothers you that much. Avoid it. 1-When did I say that the list bothered me?? And THAT much?? I just pointed out how it seemed weird. 2-Okay, so are you saying then that you might sell 30 copies of Nova #4 in five days, but one hundred copies of Batman #19 over the whole month???

  14. Ya. Even something like American Psycho, they would NEVER be able to film the book as-is.
  15. Nice catch on the Sabretooth!!! I guess he can flex like him then.
  16. Can not agree more with Elephantmen, love the books, Unnatural selections is hard to find, Even the reprint in #0 is rare as well. Had a "why no movie love" conversation yesterday, both agreed would take big $$$ to do it right, and just not popular enough like transformers with a built in following to support the cash. As far as it looks, movie is still a go. There have been talks with Andy Serkis regarding him playing Hip Flask. I wish I would have remembered which director was supposed to be on it.
  17. I wish. Combos are DELICIOUS, and he looks pretty cool.
  18. So let me get this straight, he: -Head butts like Hulk -Shoots eye beams like Cyclops -Tackles like Magneto -Bench presses like the Punisher and Captain America -Can take a punch to the gut like Wolverine and Daredevil -Can wear a belt and arm bands with style like ?Spider-Man 2099? -Can high-five like Spiderman -Has the sexual prowess of ?Mr.Fantastic? -Can squat like the Punisher (again?) -Can burn through things with the Human Torches knees -Has the bullet proof shins of The Silver Surfer -And, can dance like ?the bootless High Evolutionary? He was pretty cool though, regardless. That's funny. Haha. Well, I just always wondered that as a kid when I saw those adds. Like, it's not the usual like " Thing's fist's, Wolverine's claws, Cyclops' eyes, Quicksilver's legs, Colossus' torso, etc etc etc", just random body parts.

  20. Thanks for the spoiler Right?!? With this and the Star Trek spoiler AS THE TITLE OF A THREAD in the General board, this day is just full of people spoiling mess. No joke, I read about some study that showed that movies, TV, books, etc. being "spoiled" actually heightened the enjoyment of the viewer/participant. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/booksblog/2011/aug/17/spoilers-enhance-enjoyment-psychologists
  21. X-men 101 is already hard/expensive to find in high grade ...14 too ... Heads up! X-Men #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #1 are both books that might perform well in the future. Now back to your regular modern age thread. hehe, I tease, I tease. Thanks for the tip! The 90's one's, right??? Seriously though, it's weird, like I always thought older X-Men, Avengers, etc. were worth a pretty penny. Didn't realize that most of it is actually very affordable considering the age, significance of the issues, etc etc.
  22. Ya. Print run is pretty low, like 4,000 or so. Plus, awesome cover, J. Scott Campbell, etc. etc. You get fans of his buying these. I was going to bid on this one as it's the only issue I don't own, but since it's not Near Mint..... PS. Are there ANY Hip Flask or Elephantmen that have been CGC'd??? Think I've seen like ONE or possibly TWO total.

  24. Let's-Go-Elephant-Men-Let's-Go-WOO-WOO!!!  Too many variations on each issue has kept this comic from achieving it's potential. Which of the 6 covers of Hip Flask: Unnatural Selection do you invest in? This is another title (science fiction oriented) that I would have loved to immerse myself in, but too many variants have kept me from wanting to collect. Series is phenomenol. For variants, most issues actually don't have one. Each book has a flip-cover though, so two covers per one book. Ya, for the first Hip Flask though, lot of covers, but overall, not a lot printed. Same for Elephantmen. [/quote hahah.. ya, I love how they can just randomly switch the artist on an issue or two, it's a TOTALLY different tone and style, and it works.
