  1. Meaning the true Harley keys.... Batman Adventures 12 Batman Harley Quinn nn Are safe. What about some of the other early Harley stuff like Mad Love, and Batman: Harley and Ivy. Not keys in the same way, by were key in establishing the character outside of her relationship with Joker. I would say a lot of the early Harley appearances are undervalued like that Batman Gallery book that predates the Batman Harley Quinn nn. In a lot of ways she is like Deadpool in that her early appearances are now being gobbled up probably because she didn't suffer from overexposure early on. she didn't suffer from overexposure early on Hilarious. She had roughly 20 appearances from her creation to 2000 as an animated character in comics and around 6 appearances in the DC universe from her intro in the Batman Harley Quinn to 2000. She may have been popular for a multitude of reasons but as I said she did not suffer from overexposure early on. Good to know. Thank you. It means most of those early appearances (before 2000) should maintain solid value, 20 appearances in 6 or 7 years is next to nothing. Title characters are in books every month (and if you are Batman multiple books), and nobody complains. For now she is an A list character. BA 12 was also reprinted via trade in 1994 and I believe the trade also has a 2nd printing. These two books are super rare and with the prices of the comicbox BA 12 reprint being what they are I wonder why these trades aren't more valuable. Maybe collectors just don't know I see them on the bay/amazon all the time around 20-30 bucks.. The never get much "heat".. Theres a cool spanish/mexican edition with the cover of BA12 on it, but the problem with that book is that the content is NOT from BA12, just the cover.. the next issue has BA12 but a diff cover.. Weirdness
  2. How could you compare Star Wars 1 to BA12? Its neither a Marvel or DC creation. You could compare SW to Rom, GI Joe or Tranformers, but not Harley Quinn. I'm just comparing it to every other alternative media hype book crash post speculative bubble which usually coincides with the release of said alternative media. See, also most recently, Alias 1 (even Daredevil 1 corrected somewhat, but has the benefit of a kind of silver age buffer that cushioned its fall a bit). -J. BA12 CGC 9.8 sold for $1000 before any rumor of a SS movie, it sucked back down below 800 and I even recall a BIN on ebay for $600 I stood and looked at and then the news broke and it went 1000 city and then proceeded north. SW was a 500-600 book in 9.8 before breaking news of a movie. I saw 2500 and right back down. Likely lower. Harley will unlikely break the SW box office record, but BA12 will always hold a higher spot over SW1 any day going forward. You may be right, but don't under estimate the similarities between the two books: Both started as alternative media, were then adapted to comic books, and then adapted back to an alternative media; both have a similar amount of graded 9.8 copies on the census (400+ now, each); both at least tripled in price almost overnight upon the speculation of a movie; both are HEAVILY speculated on; both have prior alternative media adaptations on television which did little to nothing for the values of their respective "first appearance books"; and of course last but not least neither is a true "first appearance" book. It ultimately does not matter to me what either book ends up doing, but I do notice the patterns and the parallels and it may offer an instruction of caution for those paying attention to such things. -J. DC owns Harley and I would venture to say they will use her and make her more successful. Margo signed up to be Harley for 10 years. She isnt locked into the Suicide Squad. Thats not even her main role in the DC universe. She's the Jokers gal and like him or not Leto is the Joker. Regardless of the outcome of the SS movie, expect to see more Margo and Leto. Madlove New trailer doesn't bode well for Margot in the HQ role. The jokes she told didn't land with me and she doesn't even have a Brooklyn accent. How can we have HQ without her occasionally saying "mistah J"? DC shoudve went with fran drescher instead
  3. I know.. I posted in that in the general section last week. Sad. I got so many good deals from them and books always arrived quick and in great condition. Cheap cheap shipping too! Their grading is suspect, but not deal breaking, considering the low prices.. I agree, they are a great resource. I always got NM books for NM and sometimes even VF condition. They did however ship me a couple of reprints of Star Wars instead of 1st prints, even when their catalog suggested otherwise, but they were fully refunded while I kept the books (even though i asked to ship them back) And on the other hand, I did get some Pizzazz variants along those as well! Hope they're gonna be back!

  5. Not too sure why Harley is being brought up all of a sudden, but when SS was announced sometime last year I went to Squaredealonline and bought 5 copies of SSN52 #1 Green 1st Print (2011) for 75.00 total. I remember that at the time everyone was buying a ton of Legends #3 and prices were between 75-100 on raw NM copies.. This is last year! My only regret is that I shouldve bought more since they had them then
  6. Im afraid that after donuts AF15 haul, youll have to do alot more than just JIM 83 golden record edition... I kid.. Awesome haul for both you guys! Jelly
  7. Last set sold for $47. Which is a hellova deal as well... I sold 2 copies of #1 on Amazon for 100.00 each in past 2 months.
  8. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alias-Ultimate-collection-Vol-1-2-Bendis-Gaydos-Jessica-Jones-complete-OOP-/252244391911?hash=item3abaeff7e7:g:RUUAAOSwoydWkYjS Whoever scored this made out like a bandit!
  9. While on the subject of deadpool, here are a couple of overlooked 90s covers which could be had for under 10.00 bucks but not too many laying around Pretty common but cool cover:
  10. I noticed it too, but thought I was the only one, Afleck does seem like a fat in this clip. Damn, I guess thats what you get when youre living the life and could care less about getting in shape for your next role
  11. This says it all. This specific thread is about value speculation. I think we can say that many books don't fall into the "I've read that" category. There are plenty of threads praising comics and stories that people like, gasp... just for the story. If you can spot quality, you may easily be able to pick up books cheaply while the fan base develops. Reading the books is an important part to any speculative approach. This is reason many people smart people were buying Saga #1 when it was $20 raw or $100 in CGC 9.8. I wish this was true, but in real life reading (as well as artistic, lets not forget) tastes differ. Theres no one book that appeals to all. Some like the camp stuff (which is 90% of your golden-silver age stuff) and some like the darker and more thought provoking stuff (which is some bronze and heavily influenced within copper-current reading material) On the art side of things that is very much the same. Take for example, Arthur Adams. Art was probably the reason why we have Liefeld, Mcfarlane and many other successful artists in our industry, and his art is superior to theirs when it comes to quality and style, plus he's a pioneer. His books never appreciated in value significantly UNLESS they were manufactured collectible variants (which both you and me hate). The reason why a comic book elevates its status from reading material to collectability is demand. And nowadys, sadly, that is mostly generated from hype.
  12. Speaking of Red Hulk.. Did you know that if you combine Hulk #1 + Wyches #1 you can get up to 96.00$!!!!!
  13. I would post my usual "go go go" here, but it looks like this book has quieted down somewhat.. I sold one last year for 80.00 minutes after listing it when the red hulk spec was made... Still think it has some room to grow? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hulk-1-Red-Hulk-Turner-Wizard-World-LA-RARE-WWLA-NM-/181892062008?hash=item2a599c9b38:g:JzYAAOSw~OdVcxoR
  14. Heres a nice little lot of books which I was watching.. Been looking for that Akira graphitti edition for awhile for a reasonable price.. Notice that the Moebius Blueberry book is an AP edition (as well as Marshall Law).. My budget on this was 100.00 but I guess one of the 30 snipers on this auction had set his/her hopes higher http://www.ebay.com/itm/AKIRA-1-Katsuhiro-Otomo-Graffiti-Designs-Hard-Cover-num-Of-1500-lot-rare-/141872432593?hash=item21084185d1%3Ag%3AYCYAAOSwX~dWkDVI&nma=true&si=iQLOBnOThRrfulebBPzazTfAY5s%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  15. Yup, Ive sold a couple of sets in the past for 40-50, and they are pretty hard to come by. Wouldve loved to own a signed copy but according to the census, out of the 5 known graded copies, there arent any
  16. I personally will pass on all. For some reason IDW books just dont move well.. And they have such an expansive library.. Turtles, GI Joe, Peanuts, Star Trek and now Disney... I remember in the 80s when Gladstone took over Disney, there was a spike in sales on those titles (esp Duck Don Rosa books), fun times. Hope it works out for them
  17. Yup and they werent even NM.. somewhere between Fine-VF. Interesting that MSS#40 isnt doing as good. RIP

  19. I've grabbing copies whenever I can find them, but never ever paying that much. Maybe he or she knows something we don't know. Really not even the right book to speculate on ? #53 would be the KEY. Why not pick up both?
  20. Too early to speculate on Onslaught? This guy didnt think so
  21. Big sign on my LCS reporting they havent received Spider Gwen #4, ASM 1.2 & Darth vader #15 Allocations? or did something happen to these books?
  22. Don't think you could press that and improve it much. Bingo, those books aren't pressable, stock is the cardboard type, and you can't get enough pressure on the corners to get anything out. Good price though FWIW, got a few in, they pressed out really well. Gonna grade them now. Really? I got two and one didn't even have the corner ding. Yep, graded 9.8 too! Yup, this was the quickest flip for me this year. Wish I knew they were perfect copies from the get I wouldve ordered at least 5 more.. Yo ucouldnt go wrong with that price even if the rest came back dinged.. But so far everyone reprting they got perfect copies
