  1. Never seen one or heard of one. My assumption is if they do exist they are in super low print run. Are these first prints?
  2. Yes it was. There are no Newsstand copies of DKR Then the print run would be lower than the extrapolated estimate given earlier, right? Not really..what was the print run for Dazzler #1? that was a direct market book also. I know, apples to oranges, but the demand certainly exceeded the print run almost right off the gate with this book.. By 1987 this book was $30 already.. I dont know if it was 150 or 250k, but I suspect that it was up there. I never saw it coming when I got the memo for it.. No one wrote books like that at the time. Certainly not for the big 2. What the hell is this cover? Did Miller lost his mind? Why does DC want to portray Batman like that? Dont forget that there were a million reprints of this book in many formats. If someone needed to get their hands on DKR up until the whole DOJ movie hype began it was quite accessible on the Bay for anywhere from $20-40. It certainly is not rare, but the demand for this book was always there. Now more so naturally. Um, my point was purely one about math. It seemed to me that the earlier extrapolation factored in the presumption of newsstand sales. If not, then the print run would be lower. I'm not saying direct-only would've made it unpopular. Popular or not, that would be reflected in the Capital orders, which we could then extrapolate to the total--now that we know NOT to extrapolate newsstand sales, too. Ahhhh, you... You.. You're Good You

  4. DKR #1 had 24,100 Capital City orders, which was about 9.1% of the DC market in 1986 according to Standard Catalog of Comic Books. That means the print run for DKR #1 was about 265,000 copies. Infinity Gauntlet #1 was 118,600 Capital City orders, which was about 22.1% of the Marvel market in 1991. That puts the print run for Infinity Gauntlet #1 around 535,000 copies. That sounds about right. And its true, the S&N limited HC was going for 600.00 almost right off the gate (thats 1986 $600.00 for ya, which translates as around 1300-1500.00 today).
  5. I would have to check on my records, I know it was mentioned somewhere as well.. I would assume the print run was low because the book went to $20-30 almost instantly and back in the 80s that wasnt a common thing with a modern book
  6. sending these without pressing first will surely knock it off the 9.8 mark.. unless cgc treats an unbagged combo as imperfect?
  7. Dark Knight Returns is not measured by its print run. Its considered by many to be the most important copper age book at the time. The father of a new format, both in reading direction and printed format (the almighty prestige format). In the 80s, theres very little that came out by DC and Marvel that could compare to this Miller monster. The only way you could cash in on it was if you made a parody/spoof about it.. I think its the most swiped cover in the past 30 years
  8. Infinity Gauntlet and Dark Knight Returns properties have appreciated by at least 30-40% in the past few days
  9. Based on what exactly, a photo? A pictures worth a thousand words... Seriously that one shot of them all together looked like the oddball cast of a porn parody genius!
  10. I honestly wouldnt worry about them too much.. By the look of it, it seems like they have grossly overprinted the bats 40 combo packs, I wouldnt be surprised if they printed over 10,000.. No way this is the usual 1200-2000 None of this is correct. Well if none is correct than their neither high or low the combo packs have had a pretty consistent print run for a while now...very small segment of market that purchases.... print run on 40, based on no quantity available for reorder, and based on initial reported orders, appears pretty consistent... There was an error, that's why it was delayed a week. Also, the fact that the UK isn't getting any, I would say it's a safe bet that it is underprinted. Here's an example of a batman combo from last year 1. Batman 27 $3.99 DC 115,492 381. Batman 27 Combo Pack $4.99 DC 1,903 Mind you, these numbers are from LAST YEAR, when combo packs were actually selling better and reported. There's no telling how much lower the print run is today, since DC has decided to cut them off circulation due to poor performance I have no doubt in my mind that Batman #40 had higher numbers, but if the proportions stayed the same, theres no way Bats 40 combo had a %1.65 or less print run and are selling for less than a 1:25 variant.

  13. The only reason why these had such a buzz was because of the allocations.. If this book arrived on time at all the LCS it wouldve been long forgotten by now. Im happy I sold them all, but hey, thats just me
  14. Plenty of DV #3 regulars for cover at my LCS.. Theres plenty of books to speculate on, so why chose this over the others
  15. Based on everyone's enthusiastic hunt for this book, for your convenience, I have attached a map pinpointing all the locations where Bats40 Combo Packs are available
  16. Btw, is that Aquaman's trident and Wonder Woman's lasso? Aquaman's Trident, Wonder Woman's lasso, Batman's belt, Superman's cape... Looks like Sinestro's ring and another ring as well. Is that all from JLA 40? It's not from JL 40. The splash in question is from divergence FCBD. None of this is in JL 40. You guys are killin me. Let's make this easy.
