  1. I dont know man.. its not the same without the record stores anymore... The distributors... the parties.. @shadroch should know
  2. Dazzler is a book that can sell anywhere from a $1 to $20 raw/NM... Ive had a couple of sales for 30 a couple years back... people that buy this book absolutely LOVE the cover and the character of course... Some already know the story, I came across a long box of them in NM condition a few years ago, koch sold it to me for a 100... Ive made well over 1500 on it through the years. Some went to grading, some were error editions. I have about 50 of them left and liquidating them s l o w l y A book like that is timeless... Definitely not a hot topic of discussion among glitterati collectors. Just a silent money maker
  3. Wow I hope that's not the beginning of the end for comic book shops. I remember only a decade ago you had so many amazing record shops in the city. Especially in the village area (both east and west). Allllllll gone. Not one survived. #rip #liquidsky #sonicgroove #satelliterecords #vinylmania #eightballrecords
  4. eBay. Mostly BIN but sometimes auction starting with my desired price
  5. Of course they are not. They are movie franchises. They will never be as valuable as a first appearance of a popular character in printed media. Let alone one that was made INTO a movie. That doesnt mean they are not collectible. Just not (even remotely close) to one made from a book. Rick & Morty, strange as you'd find it, holds high value for a modern book based on a TV show. I personally think there was alot of shilling going on to promote the show through sales, but its still a credible example nonetheless
  6. I sold 30+ dazzler #1 last year at 10 a pop... 10+ alpha flight #1 at 10 a pop... the list goes on and on... Those are random books i got for dirt cheap and flipped with no regrets... I wouldnt call them hot picks just because I can ALWAYS sell them (and will in the future) at that price Power pack never heated up. Right now it belongs to the same group of books I listed above. The only difference is, there is STILL an active spec rumor attached to it. There always has been. Its also a 1st appearance. and also a VERY sought after book. Im not stuck on PP, in fact, its exactly the opposite, I think its weird to call it a hot book at this point. Thats all
  7. you threw out miles at 10 a piece as well? Is that why it wasnt on your top picks?
  8. I think they do those mostly in the holidays
  9. Im just giving you random examples.. of course you know there are a million others... Again, my point is NOT to give an example, cause nothing is set in stone when you spec on a book. My whole point was that to sell a book at a low profit defeats the whole point of specing to begin with.
  10. what good does it do ya if you have all of them and sell them at 10 a pop
  11. I could find a $10 bill down the road (pun intended) that doesnt mean im gonna wait till i find it to invest it in a $10 share. Again, a spec has no rules, and no formula. In fact, most people who invested in properties that others rejected were getting better profit margins, because not many had stocked up on those because they were "not credible" Shang Chi wasnt credible, Eternals werent credible, Miles wasnt credible.... Many many others werent Power Pack is just another spec
  12. A spec is a spec. No point in comparing anything. There are no working formulas here.
  13. In addition to that. youre also suggesting that no spec has ever cooled off after it took off? why are you comparing miles to deadpool?
  14. Wait, you're predicting a spec won't work by proving another did? do u have some sort of a working formula you could share with us? its all speculation. A year or 2 ago youd get into a heated debate over whether Marvel will ever get Miles to have a movie. Even when the first rumor was out a raw would sell for 15-20 at most. Plenty of sellers dumped at these prices. Even up until a couple of months ago there was a seller moving well over a 100 copies for 40 a pop. Clearly, not many thought this would be a 70-100 raw book. And over what? An animated movie? a Power Pack spec is as credible, if not more, based on all the things I outlined above. Of course you don't agree with it. But that doesn't mean it won't happen
  15. See I look at things differently. UF4 was EXACTLY like pp 1 in terms of price. A 200 book in 9.8 and 10-15 raw for many years. To me that always shows longevity. And sure enough the movie dropped and it took off, more so as a raw. Also bear in mind that UF4 has a variant which would make it a little riskier to hold back then, but I was a believer and held until it got to 50.. I started liquidating then and had enough inventory to hold till it got to 75. Plenty of inventory. That's the same rule I apply to PP1. It's a 170-200 9.8er. And 10 or less currently for a raw nm. Which is why I'm holding. That book will NEVER drop below its current price because of its status, age, and.. well.. spec prospects. The fact that it's a first appearance with no other variants and a 35 year old book makes it a sure thing for me. I can pretty much sell anytime at 10$, but it just might go higher in which case I would surely sell then
  16. First of all... scooby 1 is not "undervalued". Nor are Star Trek 1 or Star Wars 1. They're valued proportionally as NON comic book properties. They are movie franchises. Just like Rick & Morty is not undervalued and many many other NON comic related franchises. TMNT "IS" a comic book property. Just like Spider man is.
  17. Last week I had to go make copies of my Honda keys... I thought it would be 10-20 bucks but he said it has the chip so it would be 75... does that qualify as a key issue?
  18. power pack 1 for $10 is still underpriced unless youre talking in vg/below My best seller by far was UF#4 at 75 a pop with a $5 (or less) investment
  19. swear to god if i was still young id call my band that
  20. PLUS the population in Kenmore of around 15k means that most of the customer there were probably relatives of Tony
  21. How does scooby even begins to compare to TMNT??? It has absolutely no comic significance as it's not a first appearance.. it dwarfs in comparison to the demand that collectors have for TMNT 1... the point brought above about the amount of slabs made for TMNT is actually proof of that.. not the other way around... It has absolutely ZERO significance in the market as a comic. we all know scooby holds value but to compare it to a STAPLE book in our industry that signified a whole new era, new movement, and made a hellova franchise is pure nonesense
