  1. As long as the market stays healthy (or not healthy, depending on your perspective of things) newer books will gain value in the future. Bronze is the new silver.. copper is what bronze was 10 years ago.. 90s are what copper was 10 years ago and so forth and so on
  2. What never ceases to amaze me in this business is how quickly people forget what a desired book was worth yesterday. I passed along hundreds and hundreds of spawn #1s in dollar boxes. Actually I didn't even have to leave my desk to find one for a dollar or less as they were always readily available for that amount right online. If I told someone even 2 years ago that I bought a 100 spawns for investment purposes I would get all sorts of dirty looks
  3. at the time i wouldnt spend even $100 on 200 spawn 1.. there were plenty at dollar boxes and zero demand... couple that with the fact that at that time (4 years ago) I wouldve gotten bronze/silver collections for $500.. like... almost weekly I looked at that load and thought to myself ugh... good luck with the sucker that will pick those up
  4. words not allowed on the cgc boards: print-run comichron rare oh... and probably herpes
  5. about 4-5 years ago i had a retired 90s LCS who had gotten tired of having his inventory sitting in his garage call me, he had boxes of valiants and image.. at least 200 spawn #1, 1000s and 1000s of valiants including rai A&A and bloodshot 0s.. i mean that guy had soooo much drek in multiplies of hundreds... he wanted 1000 for all or nothing, i was TOTALLY not interested just because it was too much work, required alot of space and, well, this was prior to this age of drek spec we live in. I walked out and the next day he called me and said hell take 500 and i turned that down as well.. Needless to say, that was the one that got away, but given the circumstances I doubt I would have even picked it up for less
  6. Those anti-valiant people and their anti capitalistic mentality!
  7. So was there price manipulation at play behind the recent spike with Rai 0????
  8. Ill never forget how disturbing this cover appeared to me when I saw it on the racks back then
  9. I know theres tons of talk about Immortal Hulk but never saw this book mentioned... Avengers #684
  10. You do realize this made your handle here quite vulnerable
  11. This new player is just proof how vulnerable our hobby is. If a social media page... app.. IG handle etc can impact the market with information which is conducive or not to it in certain aspects, it creates yet another speculative branch questioning the authenticity and stability of it as a whole
  12. There were times when at least the AF15 newspaper reprint was worth something, but now with the true believers reprints all around even those are worthless
  13. Ha everyone's different. I absolutely LOVE NYC during the holidays. Very romantic and brings back memories of childhood. Kinda like comic books do. I'm an old soul, so I love Sinatra, Elvis, Paul and Barbara. Walking to the stores, seeing the lights, having dinner with family and friends, and the best of course is family dinner on NYE. I can't tell you how much I love those. I'm looking all year for that one magical night, and it HAS to be in NY. We used to do it at Capsouto Freres in TriBeCa. Now we go to Vivo's in Bayside. Those are priceless moments in life you keep with you forever
  14. Absolutely. Go bar hopping on a boat..Get a yacht and dock it by the bars/restaurants at the mile. We used to get sooo many chicks inside that way. Ahhh the good ol days
  15. Fourth World for so many reasons. Staff, Merchandising/eye appeal, location (parking and great eatery around). I mean, I go there and I feel like a kid again, going straight to the wall section with the new arrivals, stacks of copies and if you need one reserved just call ahead of time. Then next to the register there are all the variants and some managers special. I once got an Adventure Comic 283 for $30 in VG/Fn off that rack, Chris said yeah this ones probably underpriced but Ill still give ya a membership 20% discount off that price as well. I mean, my only regret is that its 45 min away from me, but I absolutely love that store
  16. Real NYers don't travel the city much. That's for the tourists. I don't either. I used to hang at the village, 5th ave, go to Rock plaza around xmas time when I was young. Now I go to the nautical mile during the summer, beach at Robert Moses park, shopping/dinning at Austin st, comic book shopping at Koch Warehouse in Brooklyn and fourth world at smithtown. For Christmas I go to Milleridge in in Jericho, or Hicks at Westbury. Plenty to do outside of the city
  17. Doesn't the CGC attorney has better things to do than correspond with you
