  1. I whole heatedly agree about the show. I find it more entertaining than Umbrella Academy (actually alot of similarity with those two shows) and I like UA alot. But I think the expectation from Preacher were too high which set the sales on fire actually. If you look at it this way it was almost destined to fail
  2. Pretty amazing to see what these Preacher 1 are selling for nowadays. Such a major trainwreck
  3. Action Comics #775... first time i even heard of this book.. supposedly Manchester Black appeared on the Supergirl show
  4. Off topic chatter feel free to skip i remember when the word was out that Valiant is forming. I was in the service at the time so was getting all my books from MHC and reading chucks newsletters. Man alive, he amped Valiant up bigly! First it was the Nintendo books. Super Mario and Zelda were the hottest new kids on the block. Especially Zelda. A month into the publication of this book and prices were I think over 20. Then came in Magnus, and Chuck was all over that one... if u thought Nintendo's stuff was hot... wait till u see this one.. Valiant is now doing superheroes. Sure enough, that series was 10-20 also. This is all happening after the b&w indie wave had died and no one had hope for another indie publication. At that stage everyone already thought that Valiant with Jim Shooter at the helm will be the next Marvel/DC. Like, there wasn't even a question in anyone's mind. I stopped collecting altogether shortly after Magnus was out.. I even remember thinking maybe I should stick for a little while longer just to obtain some Valiant books. I think if I had stayed longer I would have owned all of their titles. But I'm happy I pulled out of collecting altogether at that time. If you were actively collecting and speculating back then, Valiant was big big news, they had a lot of support and a huge buzz. I didn't stick around to see how Image did to compare the two, but Valiant's hype was as real as it got
  5. These have been on my saved searches for over a year... I wouldve been happy with just a #1 or a #3 for a reasonable price... All of a sudden I get all 3 for a song Birthright 1,2, 3 Really hard to come across these Steranko treasuries in decent shape.. These came out really nice for a great price... all the rest is gravy... Especially the Kurtzman book Steranko, Kurtzman histories; Fires by Mattotti; Frank Miller's Big Guy & Rusty! Seller listed this for auction with no bids yet... I shot him a message and asked if theyll take an offer for it. He did The Art of Todd McFarlane: The Devil's in the Details Hard Cover
  6. I just put pics of lesbians kissing on all of my listings
  7. Its a classic book, been reprinted 17 times (17!!) plus 4 other book formats, arguably 2nd best Copper Batman book after Dark Knight (printed in same format) I think demand for this cover alone would exceed any print run at this point. But hey what do I know...
  8. Was looking up Killing Joke prices today, wow, that book is now bordering 100 in 9.8. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-The-Killing-Joke-nn-May-1988-DC-CGC-9-8/202596454360?epid=85456087&hash=item2f2bb08fd8:g:iDoAAOSwL8xcZHDo Used to be an easy 200+ book historically. Really no clue why a timeless book like that would drop so significantly in price
  9. A lot of people would say that you're the smart one (as long as u move inventory at a gain). I know that many dealers/hobbyists prefer to "sell current keys and move the junk" and they're doing quite well for themselves truthfully. It all comes down to crunching the numbers and seeing exactly how much drek has turned to gold in previous years, to see if it justifies holding on to it. I hold on to everything now. Period. God knows I came across boxes and boxes of cheap drek that turned to easy 5-10$ books throuought the years. I wont amass more drek, but organize my current inventory so it will be readily available when cheap books become a hit
  10. That was the first thing that jumped at me as well
  11. Pretty much the only Nowlan painted cover im aware of
  12. switch band with label... same same I just made the example simple just to demonstrate
  13. As long as the product serves the owner's purpose of making more capital, it's justified to move it at no matter what the cost. Even below cost. If a band puts out a record and it costs them 50k a release between recording+pressing+distributing etc. and EVEN IF NO ONE BUYS A SINGLE PIECE but they get rave reviews from tastemakers who got the record for free and that gets them a world tour PLUS a licensing deal with Bank Of America for a commercial totaling 250k, then guess what, they just made out like a bandit. And that's a small scale artist. The same applies to publishers printing their properties. They're already making their money from merchandise and movies, they don't need income for the books when it compares to the other two streams of revenue. We're the ones buying the book, talking about it, testing it, making it a hit or a miss online, on social medias, conventions, eBay... that's because they figured us out throughout all these years. And the guys that suffer the most here, are the ones that make a living JUST OUT OF THAT. They are basically distributing the product to the masses, and are destined to failure since EVEN THE PUBLISHERS THEMSELVES do not care if the book sells or not
  14. Try and get your 14 year old away from Fortnite to read a comic book see how far that gets ya
  15. It's not youngbluh, it's youngblyad (if you're Russian you'll get it)
  16. Well good ol' Dark Horse is embarking on a big milestone with Umbrella Academy. The show is well received and prices suggest that we have a really big big winner here. Of course this is too early to call what will happen with it in the future, but it seems like prices and demand are getting up every day. Congrats Dark Horse!
  17. based on the current political climate.. doesnt seem so
  18. Btw I find it hard to believe that in this age of EVERYTHING superheroes that we live in that comic book stores are going out of business. That's not to suggest that current comic sales are up. But the secondary market is, by far, at an all time high. And so is merchandising, toys, posters, magnets, light switches... Royal Collectibles, a longtime family owned comic store in Queens, just announced a few weeks ago that they are opening another location in Astoria. They are the smart players in this current environment we live in. You walk into their store at any given time and you're overwhelmed with their merch displays. Huge statues, perfectly polished comic displays of current titles. Beautiful and well organized back stock section. The works. A few years ago they first expanded to a second store down the block. And instead of doubling up on inventory, they separated their sport section into that store. Smart move. Now they are opening another location. If you're just sitting at your store bulking up on current titles and whatever diamond/marvel/dc sends your way to incentivize sales and hoping it will sell and you'll stay in business without operating as a COLLECTIBLE store, not a newsstand comic stationary, you will be out of business in no time
  19. Now I gotta go look for one too! but seriously think about it, wouldn't u pay cover price for a reprint edition of that series if it was released today? Companies like IDW (which I hear are going under as well) put out some AMAZING comic presentations on quality paper with some of the weirdest and off the wall content. No wonder no one buys them. Wouldn't it be more lucrative for them to reprint those books from the 70s/80s and cater to the current demographic that owns a large share of the market? I'm sure that many of us old timers would love to re-own high quality representations of books featuring their favorite artists. Theres a boat load of, not necessarily key, Byrne, Adams, BWS, Wrightson books out there that would look amazing on high quality comic paper. And I'm sure plenty of us would buy it. You wouldn't need to "incentivize" them. You wouldn't need to have variants for them. They wouldn't need to be "optioned". ABSOLUTELY no sales tactic is needed here. Just have them hit the comic racks and watch them sell out
  20. +1 i would LOVE to own comic format reproductions of early Art Adams work from the 80s. His heavily detailed work was always smeared from the color and printing process. I'm sure that many others would find certain books that they would love to see reprinted in a much better quality paper and color process AND in comic format. I HATE reading tpb, they're bulky and I always feel like I'm damaging the spine each time I just open one up. I'm much more comfortable with a one/one comic replica of the original. Don't change a thing with the content or covers. Just reprint the damn thing with great quality
  21. Seems like there's a much greater awareness now to DCU variants. I used to come across them on eBay all the time without being labeled as such, now most are labeled appropriately and overpriced of course.
