  1. I have to agree. Spider-May sounds better than Spider-Gwen. Dont know about looks tho
  2. Yup she's certainly more relevant now. Definitely a top contender for the near future. An EOSV2 can flirt with NM98 prices as soon as she moves up to Hollywood I just don't know if this whole fem power resurgence will last for more than a decade let alone 25 years. Remember - if it's a hot book now, there's nothing to speculate here about. IH181 wasn't a hot book in early to mid 80s. Hard to fathom but that's just because so many other books were more exciting and relevant. Same w ASM129, up til 86 it was a 2.00 book. Thanos wasn't even mentioned as a 1st appearance on IM55 till 89. Thats what I'm looking for here, an established property with promise. I have many moderns I can speculate on and they may truly work but let's focus on older properties that have appreciated and show some promise. So far I'm with OM3 and SW1 if you're willing to spend a bit more can't go wrong w asm300 imo
  3. I don't agree w this statement soz. I think that in this crazy time we live in, EVERYTHING is a key! More than ever before for sure. It's just a matter of separating the boys from the men at this point. I'm a strong believer in sustainability, that's why I created this topic. ANYONE can pick hundreds of NEW keys and say: this is it. But time and time we saw, that true keys are ones that stay and grow. In that regard I agree with Kav, ASM300 will most DEFINITELY become an IH181 grail by 2040. Prolly before that time. But it's no fun buying a key for 300-500$ if u can buy a few for the same total amount and wait a little longer. I cant go wrong with buying an established key when that book is asleep. I may not make money on it. But I won't lose on it. I did that with MP15, Star Wars 1, Tick and many other books when they weren't as hot as they are now. I also did it w less established keys and had good results but not as great. It's always safe when u have a budget set and u don't go overboard.
  4. Looks like its headed this way http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wonder-Woman-1987-2nd-Series-90DCU-VF-8-5-/362063269066?hash=item544ca70cca:g:BLQAAOSwxGRZh41- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pinky-and-the-Brain-1-1996-DC-Universe-UPC-logo-variant-HTF-High-grade-DCU-/122669396327?epid=86514734&hash=item1c8faa7167:g:K8AAAOSwbeJZog5K http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wonder-Woman-96-DC-universe-Variant-Rare-Low-Print-DCU-Joker-Bolland-/232456888816?hash=item361f82a1f0:g:k2wAAOSwVRpZmjFC http://www.ebay.com/itm/Legionnaires-16-NM-or-better-DC-Adam-Hughes-cover-DCU-logo-variant-Very-Rare-/332353742780?hash=item4d61d3a7bc:g:EGcAAOSwT-lZnJ8Q http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Wonder-Woman-86-Bolland-DCU-DC-Universe-variant-NM-DC-1994-/253082426935?epid=85423370&hash=item3aece35e37:g:UUkAAOSwj85Zh9Ff
  5. I totally agree that the timetable parallels between both books don't sync. I will further go to say that IH181 was a HUGE key already in the early 90s. But that's also when indies were commanding top dollar as well. So the market was in a bubble (much like it is today) and u just couldn't tell which key would stick. Many speculators would tell you to keep away from keys like IH181 (not ALL, but many) because they are overpriced. It's laughable to think about those speculators now preaching on those dead stocks, yet here we are again. Same scenario, different books. I don't think OM3 is a sure thing. I'm just saying that it's a sleeping giant much like IH181 was for many many many years. It's an example of a key with tremendous potential. Not a sure thing
  6. Well at least we now know what to expect price wise
  7. I once bought a PGX with a McFarlane sig.. I had a buyer that bought it from me later at double what I bought it for, but ended up returning because he thought the sig was fake, he wasnt aware of the fact that McFarlane had diff signatures. That was the only time I bought a PGX book
  8. Absolutely. Ive seen similar results with BA12 and ASM300 with a couple of acquaintances
  9. Actually there are a few people I know that do that. The books are being stained by the label.
  10. You mean low quality as far as PGX cases or quality of grading? or altogether? I see it more as Market CRASH (comics post crash) equals a bottomed out product (PGX)
  11. Yes, all prices dropped across the board, not to suggest that they became worthless. The ones that were still priced high were sitting there with no buyers, kinda like PGX books do now with bins
  12. Oh Im not trying to trash PGX, just drawing conclusions based on price comparison and stuff I read off social media. I think its sad really (for them) but alas that is the current status quo.
  13. When/if a crash comes, comics as a collectible will have a stigma as well. Kinda like they did in the 90s
  14. Yes they are really bad compared to equal grades with other grading companies, especially CGC. I picked them as an example because by now it looks like the company has lost all credibility as far as grades and authenticity are concerned. But there are still people who buy them. In a post crash era, regardless of what the cause would be, many people will find comics to be a less credible investment, which seems quite similar to me. People would still buy and spend a good penny on keys, much like they do now with PGX, but the prices will not be anywhere remotely close to what they would fetch with a more stable grading company/market
  15. Again, I think this book is relatively too new to draw a comparison to IH181 at the time. But maybe?
  16. Are current PGX prices (as compared to current CGC prices) a good reference to what a post-crash market would look like? And if so, will such a market ever recover?
  17. If so, we should all be looking for the source material that inspired them
  18. What I would love to see is a census platform with gpa built in. I think this would be a huge step in visualizing current stock value and share amount. This could further be adapted as an app. They could have different tiers. A free version which just shows you 9.8s or a full version and an app that shows you all grades.
  19. I always. ALWAYS. Prescreen moderns for that reason. If a comic looks like a 9.8 to me it gets pre-screened. If it's a key and has an even tiny imperfection I list it as NM and call it a day
