  3. Yes, good point. The automated shopping cart may be reason for some of the status change. Still, one would think that a dealer would be incentivized to put back merchandise online in those instances where the potential buyer is a faker. It just never makes sense to me that a big ticket item like $400,000 for the Spider-Man 59 cover for example is “ON HOLD” or that an item on Comiclink website is listed as “PENDING SALE” status for a very long long long time. Yes time payments & automated shopping carts account for some of this interim action before a final sale may occur but still some of this action just seems odd to me.
  4. When a dealer lists a piece on their website as ON HOLD, does that mean it probably sold ? How common is it for an item to go back up ? For example : Status ON HOLD - http://www.romitaman.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=21380&ArtistId=947 I remember this cover was recently listed for $400,000, and now its NOT available as its "ON HOLD" - so was this piece a SALE ? Also, Comic Link frequently lists item as PENDING SALE Is it common for monies on such big sales to be so tentative ? I cant imagine a dealer agreeing to take merchandise off their website unless a potential buyer puts down a significant deposit of earnest money.
  5. When I was a young collector in the 70s, I hated date stamps, but I have matured and now appreciate them. They are like birth marks.
  6. As the saying goes - "With friends like you, who needs enemies?" Self serving is all I'm saying. Very self serving on your part.
  7. Cough cough... conflict of interest... cough cough Do people really still fall for these obvious tactics to manipulate markets in 2018 ? i wish dealers would have some scruples and not do this stuff
  8. One again, inappropriate for a person of your stature that has expressed an interest in a piece to be commenting. There is a conflict here if you are both “market maker” and interested buyer. Not fair to be pointing out non comparable “comps” as if that is a true apple to apple comparison. JMHO
  9. Whatever. Im done. You want to defend Burkey and his manipulative shenanigans, it’s on you and ur ilk
  10. What do u care what my board title is ? You just want to be entertained ?
  11. So I’m a troll just because I express my opinion that immoral behavior is immoral? Im waiting for you to call me racist next. Regardless, my main point still stands. Burkey revealed himself to be a manipulator.
  12. Your comment is an indication that people in America get stupider every year. Sad ? ——— Load up on guns Bring your friends It's fun to lose and to pretend She's overboard, self assured Oh no I know, a dirty word Hello, hello, hello, how low [x3] Hello, hello, hello With the lights out, it's less dangerous Here we are now, entertain us I feel stupid and contagious Here we are now, entertain us A mulatto, an Albino A mosquito, my libido, yeah Hey, yay I'm worse at what I do best And for this gift, I feel blessed Our little group has always been And always will until the end Hello, hello, hello, how low [x3] Hello, hello, hello With the lights out, it's less dangerous Here we are now, entertain us I feel stupid and contagious Here we are now, entertain us A mulatto, an Albino A mosquito, my libido, yeah Hey, yay And I forget just why I taste Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile I found it hard, it was hard to find Oh well, whatever, nevermind Hello, hello, hello, how low [x3] Hello, hello, hello With the lights out, it's less dangerous Here we are now, entertain us I feel stupid and contagious Here we are now, entertain us A mulatto, an Albino A mosquito, my libido A denial, A denial, A denial, A denial, A denial A denial, A denial, A denial, A denial
  13. Why would you give Burkey a pass merely because "everybody does it". Your argument is so weak. And reveals something about your moral character. Shame on you.
  14. I thought about that. But after careful consideration, NO. I just call a spade a spade. I don't make excuses for behavior that is WRONG.
  15. I am not going to pick a fight with you Bronty. You are just what I consider merely a "useful idgiot". But Mike Burkey pretending to be a nice guy" is just pure marketing. He is NOT a nice guy. He constantly, and always, violates basic rules of etiqutte to serve his own agenda. Which is ALWAYS about the art of the deal. It is disgusting to behold. I have no problem with "deal making" but don't pretend that you are a nice guy when you violate basic rules of etiquette and decency. Disparaging a sellers piece that you are interested in is indecent. And this awww shucks, Im just giving my honest interpretation based on mere objective factors, please ignore that I am an interested buyer in this piece. Who falls for that garbage ? It is better if he just kept his mouth shut.
  16. In hindsight, I regret giving a pass to Vincent Zurzolo and Stephen Fischler. God knows, I hate most everybody in this hobby; mike Burkey included. But in fairness, everybody rubs me the wrong way here on these boards. ? Burkey though is so sanctimonious and hypocritical though. He is one of the worst.
  17. Putting aside the conflict of interest and lack of professionalism, disparaging another sellers art is inappropriate and indecent. But the conflict makes it cringe worthy.
  18. Hi Mike, I have a ton of respect for you not just as a business person, but as a genuine fan of comic book artwork. You are a passionate comic art fan and zealot, and that above all else I most respect about you. But with that said, in the kindest of ways, I have a small criticism of you. And I sincerely hope that you do NOT take my criticism as a personal affront against you. I do not think that it is appropriate that you comment on "value", "price" and the market in general, especially as regards ROMITA comic book art. You should not be managing perception as regards "floors" and ceilings" on comic book art. Certainly not in a public forum. Privately is a different matter. A lot of other people in the hobby, Stephen Fischler, Vincent Zurzolo, and others DO NOT impute their belief on valuation into the market place, and I respect them for that. They recognize the inherent "conflict of interest" in doing so. They are market makers. Like you ! As such, in the kindest of ways, may I remind you that you are a leader in this hobby, and that your voice carries greater weight than other posters. Please be careful when expressing your opinions on the market place, as I do believe it effects "perceptions" and valuation, which we all know, can be easily manipulated. If you are a buyer, be a buyer. If you are a seller, be a seller, but I do not think it is appropriate for you to "manage perception" as to what you believe is the ceiling on a piece, that you have already expressed an interest. To me it seems like a conflict of interest.

  20. How is the condition on the Fantasy 15 ? Clearly that is the money book that made the purchase expensive. VG Yeah it was...the AF 15 cost was the biggest part by far of the near 300 comics purchased. Congrats Nice books
