  1. Just picked this up. Nice war cover. Love the tanks!
  2. I love it! Looks beautiful...bright colors and white pages I think that book was in the Comic Connect auction and didn't meet reserve.
  3. Here's an updated shot of my early Supermans with some recent additions.
  4. The best of the best from #2 to #26 in my opinion What better way to start my 1-26 run then! I used to have a nice copy of #11, but I was forced to sell it years ago to pay college tuition. Ah well, I got an education, but the loss of that beautiful Flessel cover still hurts!
  5. Also added about 75 Spirit sections! Redfury's Fawcett and Spirit Sections SALE!
  6. Just arrived today courtesy of our own jkrk! Crimson Avenger...
  7. I just listed a big collection of 35 Captain Marvel Adventures and 2 Captain Marvel Jr for sale at 20% off for board members. Captain Marvel Adventures
  8. I picked up a Spy Smasher #6 a few weeks ago and loved it so much I went looking for more. Here's a Spy Smasher #11 that arrived in today's mail. Love the paratrooper cover. I think someone else around here likes those too. Here's a shot of the first splash. In the first story Spy Smasher investigates "haunted" machines at an American war plant, and this is a pretty cool action shot of him fighting one. Of course the "hauntings" are really trickery by Japanese saboteurs. This centerfold splash I really like. Nice colors, nice layout, and I like the way the flags frame the scene. And the villain, the Man Without a Flag, has a delightfully ludicrous origin story: "I was born on a Red Cross ship on the International Dateline! The Captain was Swedish! My father was German! My mother was American! The Ship flew the Dutch flag! I WAS CLAIMED BY NO COUNTRY! For years a wrangle went on over my citizenship. Then my parents died! The ship went down with all records! And I had no country! NO COUNTRY AT ALL! I was bewildered, lost bitter... So I became the Man Without a Flag. If no country would have me, I would bow down to no FLAG! I sell my services to the highest bidder!"
  9. Whoa, the big guns are out! What a nice looking book, Bill. Congrats! (thumbs u
  10. Cool books, Ciorac. Thanks for posting them! I was wondering what was meant by "The Official Publication of Reg'lar Fellers". I thought maybe it was some kind of club or a radio program. Good ol' Wikipedia comes through again...it was a daily comic strip that had a spin-off movie, radio program, an animated cartoon and now comic books! Reg'lar Fellers Wikipedia Entry
  11. The signature on the book looked like it said "Denny Colt", which is the alter-ego of The Spirit. The Spirit Wikipedia Entry
  12. How'd you get a book from The Spirit's personal collection!?!?
  13. Thanks guys. All-Star 35 was always my favorite cover of the run, so much so that I even commissioned Irwin Hasen to do a recreation for me. Then a few years ago I noticed that Leading 8 had a very similar cover. My first thought was that someone had copied Hasen's idea, until I realized the Leading cover was almost 4 years older! After those initial two were on my radar, others began to fall into place. WDCS 40. Uncle Scrooge 12. Showcase 14. All giant hourglass covers! I just think they're so cool. BZ, no, I don't own any actual hourglasses. I just like comics with them on the cover!
  14. Here's a trio of classic hourglass covers arranged in chronological order. Leading Comics #8 from Fall 1943, Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #40 from January 1944, and All-Star Comics #35 from June/July 1947.
  15. Nice book. I always wished Williamson had done more covers.
  16. Wow! Makes me want to collect pre-hero books! I especially like the surfing cover. That's a Flessel, isn't it?
  17. Just picked these two up yesterday. Two great covers in one day...I'd like to have more days like that! The first, Marvel Family #77, is one that's been on my wantlist for a long time due to the classic gruesome communist claw cover. I was thrilled to stumble upon this very nice mid-grade copy with bright colors and nice pages. The second book is Spy Smasher #6. I never paid much attention to this title in the past, but when I saw this awesome Raboy cover with the iconic image of Spy Smasher looming over it I just had to have it.
  18. Yes, it is. The other two are in approximately the same condition. Yeah, that is a sweet cover. Maybe I should up my goal to run through #23.
  19. Here's my small run so far. Not sure yet where it's going, but I'm thinking I'd like to get 2 through 14 at least. 1 will be tough...
  20. Wow BZ! The colors on those All-Americans are incredible! Thanks for posting them.
  21. I would say the book is about a 6.5 or 7.0. It does have very slight restoration though. But that slight restoration made this smokin' copy affordable to me!
