  1. Cool books, Ciorac. Thanks for posting them! I was wondering what was meant by "The Official Publication of Reg'lar Fellers". I thought maybe it was some kind of club or a radio program. Good ol' Wikipedia comes through again...it was a daily comic strip that had a spin-off movie, radio program, an animated cartoon and now comic books! Reg'lar Fellers Wikipedia Entry
  2. The signature on the book looked like it said "Denny Colt", which is the alter-ego of The Spirit. The Spirit Wikipedia Entry
  3. How'd you get a book from The Spirit's personal collection!?!?
  4. Thanks guys. All-Star 35 was always my favorite cover of the run, so much so that I even commissioned Irwin Hasen to do a recreation for me. Then a few years ago I noticed that Leading 8 had a very similar cover. My first thought was that someone had copied Hasen's idea, until I realized the Leading cover was almost 4 years older! After those initial two were on my radar, others began to fall into place. WDCS 40. Uncle Scrooge 12. Showcase 14. All giant hourglass covers! I just think they're so cool. BZ, no, I don't own any actual hourglasses. I just like comics with them on the cover!
  5. Here's a trio of classic hourglass covers arranged in chronological order. Leading Comics #8 from Fall 1943, Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #40 from January 1944, and All-Star Comics #35 from June/July 1947.
  6. Nice book. I always wished Williamson had done more covers.
  7. Wow! Makes me want to collect pre-hero books! I especially like the surfing cover. That's a Flessel, isn't it?
  8. Just picked these two up yesterday. Two great covers in one day...I'd like to have more days like that! The first, Marvel Family #77, is one that's been on my wantlist for a long time due to the classic gruesome communist claw cover. I was thrilled to stumble upon this very nice mid-grade copy with bright colors and nice pages. The second book is Spy Smasher #6. I never paid much attention to this title in the past, but when I saw this awesome Raboy cover with the iconic image of Spy Smasher looming over it I just had to have it.
  9. Yes, it is. The other two are in approximately the same condition. Yeah, that is a sweet cover. Maybe I should up my goal to run through #23.
  10. Here's my small run so far. Not sure yet where it's going, but I'm thinking I'd like to get 2 through 14 at least. 1 will be tough...
  11. Wow BZ! The colors on those All-Americans are incredible! Thanks for posting them.
  12. I would say the book is about a 6.5 or 7.0. It does have very slight restoration though. But that slight restoration made this smokin' copy affordable to me!
  13. Sunday was a big day for me...I picked up a nice All-Star Comics #3. It's a book I've wanted for more than 10 years, and since I'm trying to put a run of All-Stars together, that goal suddenly becomes a lot more realistic! Here it is!
  14. Thanks for sharing, Scott. It was a real pleasure to read.
  15. Here's a commission piece that Mr. Flessel did for me last January.
  16. I'd go with the Flash. Nicer cover and the 1st Black Canary. Tough choice though. I love All Stars.
  17. Gotta go with Superman. Suspense has a beautiful cover and all, but it just isn't worth $47,000 to me. Superman, on the other hand, is an icon.
  18. I'd go with the Tec 27. I don't like tape to begin with, and I think the Action was probably a 2.0 and the tape brought it up to a 3.0. Besides, I like Batman a heck of a lot more than Superman!
  19. Here's my new site that I've just opened. I'll be adding a lot more items in the coming weeks. Any feedback would be welcomed! Philadelphia Comic Book Company www.philadelphiacomicbookcompany.com
