  1. Star Spangled Comics #1 Anyone see the Star Spangled Kid on Smallville last night? The back cover has a pinup.
  2. Smash Comics #22 Slowly building a collection of early Smashes. This #22 is beautiful with white pages. Too bad it has some slight ct near the upper staple. The interior artwork on this is top-notch.
  3. Whiz Comics #17 - Another classic Fawcett war cover, and one of my favorite Whiz covers. A friend sold me this for only $45! Ok, it's got a taped spine, bindary holes, and slight color touch, but who cares? Love it! The back cover has an ad for the Captain Marvel serial.
  4. Here's some odds and ends I've picked up recently. Adventure Comics #52 My favorite of the 10 Hourman covers. Love the colors on this. Detroit Trolley copy.
  5. No one's going to argue if you post Atom Agers! I still calls dem Golden Age Yeah, but it seems like a great copy so please post it ok, as long as you are ok with me posting GA in a SA thread Very nice. Our two copies are almost twins!
  6. I recently had several of my raw copies of Blood Is the Harvest slabbed, so I thought I'd post an updated group shot. Kinda runs the grading gamut.
  7. Looks like the long rumored "Fawcett comeback" is well on its way!
  8. Whoa, does Fawcett have its own thread now? Cool books Billy. I like the Captain Marvel 17. And you don't see Slam Bangs too often.
  9. I was watching it, but when it crossed $1,200 I bailed. It's uncommon, but not nearly as hard-to-find as Blood Is the Harvest or America Menaced. Census shows 19 copies slabbed. I've got two, a 9.4 and a 9.0 copy.
  10. Nice, congrats. The 1950 version is much, much scarcer than the 1958 one.
  11. I have several other Fawcett war covers, but they're either patriotic themed with no enemy shown, or the enemy are Nazis. I don't think I have any other Japanese ones. Oh well, I guess it's back to Timelys. This one is a two-for-one...Japs and Nazis!
  12. I love the expression on Scrooge's face Me too. There's three distinct emotions evident: for Donald it's frustration bordering on anger, for Scrooge it's bemusement, and for the nephews it's boredom and the sense that this kind of thing happens all the time. There's just so much going on there!
  13. This is the only book I bought for myself at the Baltimore show last weekend. WDC&S #140. It's got a lot going for it: 1st Gyro Gearloose, a hilarious cover with Uncle Scrooge included, and a golf cover. I like it!
  14. Virtual Comic Con XIII starts Saturday night at 6pm. My booth is loaded with Golden Age books so please stop by and take a look. RedFury's Golden Age Comics Booth
  15. There's two in the November Heritage auction. Of course one is the 9.4 Mile High copy, but the other is a restored 8.5.
  16. Nice shot! What a great set. Good luck, I hope you finish it. I'm sorta working on it too, but I've only got 1. I started with one also......the #48 ...yellow cover with Plas blowing a bubble and Woozy is inside. That was in Nov. 2007 It was May '08 for me. I'd wanted a Police 1 since I was a kid and couldn't pass on this nice copy. I've been planning to add more, but haven't yet.
  17. Nice shot! What a great set. Good luck, I hope you finish it. I'm sorta working on it too, but I've only got 1.
  18. I have 10 GA Detectives in the Marketplace right now... Link to Detectives
  19. The Captain America, Sub-mariner, and Human Torch stories are available in the Atlas Age Heroes Masterworks books (10 issues or so are reprinted in each) and are in print now and available online for about $40 or so.
  20. I've got a Blackhawk #19, the classic iconic cover by Crandall, for sale in the marketplace. Blackhawk #19 CGC VF 8.0
  21. That's stunningly beautiful! Congrats! Quite an achievement.
  22. Just added these two to my early Captain Marvel collection. These are among my favorite covers in the run. Just awesome WWII stuff. Note the "Paste the Axis" contest on the bottom of #16. I wonder who won?
  23. I suppose it's too much to hope that you are slabbing to sell. Sorry, no, these are keepers. AA61 is one of my grail books!
