  1. I certainly think so considering some are easier to get (any power ranger) than others (Mark Hammill). Here's a few I got a few years ago and don't regret the money I spent even with all the footwork I did at that con years ago. (Sorry about pics. I have upgraded in the cellphone department since then). 1. JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 (FCBD Variant) signed by entire cast including Voiceover Casting Director Andrea Romano (except for Michael Rosenbaum since he was filming his TV show) -- 2. IRON FIST #14: This one is a mix of celebrity and creators. Signed by Tyler Mane (Sabretooth in 1st X-MEN flick), Randy Green and Chris Claremont. I eventually got cover artist Al Milgrom but I haven't taken a new picture since adding that particular sig. Only one missing is John Byrne but he despises the CGC game and retired from cons in 2004 (although he went to STAR TREK CON in Las Vegas to sign only Star Trek books) -- 3. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 700: This was a fun book to do but can be pricey to do it since people are charging for CGC sigs now. I like clean sigs on a clear background. Sigs signed anywhere without thought or care look like garage to me (but that's just me). 4. CAPTAIN AMERICA #111: Signed by Jim Steranko and Joe Sinnott
  2. I can't speak for anyone else but myself. I get SS books done because it's fun and can be worth money, especially down the line. When Herb Trimpe was alive, his stuff wasn't pricey (especially his art on blank covers). Once he passed, prices skyrocketed. Same with Darwyn Cooke. I was fortunate to get some hardcovers signed by him but I never had the chance to get comics signed by him. When he was with us, SS CGCed book averaged about $75. Since he passed, people are charging an average $250. The point is to get the books signed by the creators you enjoy while they are still with us. I once paid a pretty penny for a John Byrne sig that was being sold by someone on the boards and I don't regret paying the price since Byrne never goes to cons (except to Star Trek in Las Vegas after 14 years of self exile). Hope that helps.
  3. As long as you pay his wife the $30 and he knows it, you should be good. He may ask if you want it personalized or not, so let him know in advance.
  4. I actually prefer this cover to the previous Batman cover that was released. Ended up getting this thanks to a friend reminding me it was on sale.
  5. First run was six issues but the story builds over three arcs. https://www.amazon.com/Lone-Ranger-Now-Forever/dp/1933305401/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1469800265&sr=1-5&keywords=Lone+Ranger Here are all the book on Amazon -- https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Lone+Ranger#/ref=sr_nr_n_21?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A4390%2Ck%3ALone+Ranger&keywords=Lone+Ranger&ie=UTF8&qid=1469800252&rnid=2941120011
  6. This title was started a few years ago through Dynamite Entertainment. LONE RANGER #1-John Cassady did covers, Sergio Cariello did interiors and writing was done by Brett Matthews. The run was pretty good and is currently collected in TPB. Same team did the LONE RANGER & TONTO mini-series which was also good. I stopped after reading the LONE RANGER / ZORRO teamup. The writer was Ande Parks and pencils by Esteve Pols. I was excited about the LONE RANGER / ZORRO teamup comic but it wasn't drawn or written particularly well. Only thing good about it was the amazing Alex Ross covers. That team wrote Vol. #2 of the series but their last mini-series left a horrible taste in my mouth.f. Chuck Dixon wrote a mini-series (LONE RANGER: SNAKE OF IRON) I haven't had a chance to read but he's a great writer so you can't go wrong with that. The next mini-series (LONE RANGER: VINDICATED) was written by Justin Gray (co-writer w/ Jimmy Palmiotti of the amazing JONAH HEX comic from DC COMICS). The newest is a novel idea but written by a bad writer -- LONE RANGER / GREEN HORNET is written by Michael Uslan w/ art by Giovanni Timpano. Not wasting my money on this one, sadly. I don't have faith in his ability as a writer after I read comic of his from Dynamite. ZORRO and ZORRO RIDES again are great if you're interested in good stories on the western front. Written by Mark Wagner, it's definitely worth checking out.
  7. I'm sure they said the same thing about Rocket Racoon before GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY was huge hit.
  8. He doesn't do cons and exclusively does signings at the comfort of his own home only when he wants to. They just did a signing with him earlier this year. The one before that was a ways back. Just check the Signature Series thread daily. You'd be surprised who the facilitators can get for signings.
  9. HEY ALL! EAST COAST COMIC CON has reserved the dates April 29th & 30th for their con at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ (355 Plaza Drive Secaucus, NJ 07094). So, far they're lining up great guests (Golden to Modern Ages) for this show. Guests include: - NEAL ADAMS - KEVIN ALTIERI (director for many episodes of BATMAN: TAS) - ALLEN BELLMAN - SIMON BISLEY - JOSE LUIS GARCIA LOPEZ - MIKE GOLDEN - MIKE GRELL - JOHN HIGGINS (colorist for WATCHMEN) - JOE JUSKO - STAN SAKAI - MARK WAID - MIKE ZECK - CARL POTTS - RUDY NEBRES - JIM SALICRUP - BILLY TUCCI - More guests can be found at: http://eastcoastcomicon.com/guests
  10. Wow, those are cool. Where did he show up? Would love to get his autograph. That show rocked, especially the theme.
  11. Seems like Terry Dodson is doing another cover for Midtown Comics. JUSTICE LEAGUE #1. It looks good -- http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/search.asp?pl=16&q=justice+league+%231+dodson
  12. Yup, I've been posting about this one for a bit and people can buy discount tickets to the show. I provide links for the discounts in the thread I created -- http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9139617#Post9139617
  13. Apparently CGC and STAN LEE COLLECTIBLES are doing Stan Lee Labels using J SCOTT CAMPBELL Stan Lee image. I think that's pretty cool. Here's the e-mail -- Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) and Stan Lee Collectibles have collaborated to create two new Stan Lee labels! The labels include a reproduction of a Stan Lee head sketch by J. Scott Campbell along with Stan Lee's signature in either silver or red. The Silver Signature Labels can be purchased for any book that is signed by Stan Lee from CGC. The Red Signature Label will be exclusively available through Stan Lee Labels. The first chance to get the Stan Lee labels is at the Denver Comic Con June 17-19, 2015. Anastasia's Collectibles and NY Comics will be on site at the show and will be taking in submissions for the special Stan Lee label. The label price is $5.00 over the chosen tier of grading service. Please contact Brittany McManus at bmcmanus@cgccomics.com for additional information on these exciting new labels. "The Red Signature Label will be exclusively available through Stan Lee Labels." I believe they meant you can get the Red Signature Label through Stan Lee Collectibles. You'd have to ask Brittany McManus to be sure.
  14. Is this some 3rd party company? If you get a Stan Lee sig, do they give you one to submit with the book? I think it's a typo and they meant Stan Lee Collectibles.
  15. - DC REBIRTH #1 - Great issue that established a number of story ideas that will play out through the DCU. - BATMAN: REBIRTH #1 - Had some interesting things going on but not overly impressed. - BATMAN #1 - It was ok, not great but not terrible. Art is great, story just needs to match that greatness. - SUPERMAN #1 - This one shows promise and brings back the Superman I know and love. I think making Supes a family man is new territory for creators to explore, especially since he has a son now. Makes for interesting material for future storylines. Look forward to reading more. Is it me or do these books have as many ads as they do actual comic pages. The ads were annoying the heck out of me.
  16. I knew that Bill Mantlo is in the care of his brother due to an accident, but I didn't realize the severity of his accident may have left him unable to sign. Has anyone tried to reach out for a private signing with him at any point? Regarding BILL MANTLO's condition, read this. Afterward, think if he really could sign anything in the condition he is in. Just donate and help out. He needs the cash more than anyone needs his signature. http://www.lifehealthpro.com/2011/11/07/tragic-tale http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/05/bill-mantlo-rocket-raccoon-screening_n_5649844.html http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/11/17/bill-mantlos-birthday-gift-from-the-comic-book-community/
  17. BILL MANTLO was in a bike accident in the 80s that essentially ended his career. Although he is still alive, he has been under the care of his brother since the incident. As for SAL BUSCEMA, he no longer does cons. Last signing for him was through one of the board facilitators 2 years ago.
  18. My goal would be to get a piece of Batman art from all the big artists -- Neal Adams, Jim Lee, Tim Sale, Jim Aparo, Kevin Nowlan, Brian Stelfreeze, Brian Bolland, Greg Capullo, etc. I'd be happy with just panel pages.
  19. What a great cover.... Looks like Stan Lee got his neck snapped and can't move at all.
  20. His twitter statements regarding pricing and reasons behind the high amounts -- https://mobile.twitter.com/GregCapullo/status/722116952001548288?p=v https://mobile.twitter.com/GregCapullo/status/722123452308668418?p=v https://mobile.twitter.com/GregCapullo/status/722071617241812992?p=v https://mobile.twitter.com/GregCapullo/status/721397614625832960?p=v https://mobile.twitter.com/GregCapullo/status/721396486265835520?p=v He has a price, but its a high one and I understand the reasoning behind it.
  21. Neal Adams charges a ridiculous amount on his site too but it's rare when it's actually worth it. His work is better when it's inked by someone else and he has this addiction to adding line movements and crosshatching that are unnecessary. As for Capullo, I honestly don't blame him for charging what he's charging for his art. Whether you like the art / story or not, it's a Batman for a new generation that has been a top seller for DC. It's a now classic run from the Capullo / Snyder creative team Capullo also learned from the mistakes of McFarlane when it came to selling original artwork to the public. His stuff WILL go up just like McFarlane's, it's just a matter of time. It's akin to buying Jim Lee's art during his X-MEN or BATMAN run, McFarlane's run on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, Joe Mad's run on UNCANNY X-MEN, Neal Adams on GREEN LANTERN or John Byrne's run on X-MEN or FANTASTIC FOUR. Better to buy on the ground floor while no one is looking before hype and demand kick in to make those pages out of reach. Just my 2 cents.
  22. If you liked those, you may like THE ART OF THE STEAL about how the city of Philadelphia basically took famous paintings from a deceased collector who originally wanted to maintain them at his home to inspire future artists. Talk about "too much government".
  23. Is it just me or is that cover not very good? -BIGS That goes for all of Campbell's covers. He draws Barbie dolls that couldn't possibly function as an actual organic being in reality. Look up Lindesy Pelas. Definitely real, definitely natural and certainly an exception to the rule. Not sure if J Scott knows her or not but she sure as heck looks like some of the drawings he creates.
