  1. Seeing the thread about the "trimmed" Marvel Mystery made me want to post my Cap 39 which is badly mis-cut and mis-bound. All other Timely's I own are about 1/3 of an inch larger than the Cap. The interior pages are not large enough (see pictures 2 and 3) and some of the art is cut due to this. On top of this 2 centerfolds are slightly larger then the other pages and are creased (see picture 4). I'm wondering if mis-cuts like this occurred often in WW2 Timely's or not (I'm no specialist on the subject).
  2. Sadly not, there is some moderate back cover creasing in both covers. But I'm really glad to own this book with a double cover!!! Really doesn't matter, unless those creases are tears. And even then, it doesn't outweigh the coolness of a double cover on that issue. Congrats! Reminds me of a time in Chicago, years ago, Graham Crackers had a double cover example of Fight Against Crime #20. Couldn't afford it, then or now, but someone out there has it... It doesn't matter at all!! This is the best book I got my hands on in a year or so! A Fight Against Crime 20 with a double cover? That's a
  3. You damn well should be, man people are scoring some amazing books. Congrats! That book has been on my want list for 25 years. Misfits fan die, die, die my darling....
  4. I love the double-cover "surprise": "Hey, this looks like about a fine.....aaaaaaand there's a VF+ or NM inside...." Sadly not, there is some moderate back cover creasing in both covers. But I'm really glad to own this book with a double cover!!!
  5. Did you throw the door open and run screaming down the street??? I would have. Yes, I nearly did!!
  6. Thanks to all of you! I guess you can imagine how surprised I was when I opened the book yesterday!!
  7. nice book Jamie!! von hammer thanks von hammer! we missed your ebullience at Wondercon today. Why aren't you working instead of loafing?? you will meet your favorite kraut at comic-con. I'm doing both!!!
  8. Here's my copy of Mister Mystery 18: I was glad to see that it features a double cover when I opened it :
  9. That's a great book! I really like the Powell/Nostrand art. Nostrand is one of my favorite artists on the Harvey horror titles!
  10. Will Germany win the football world championship this summer?
  11. Thanks to all for your nice comments and I have to say that I agree with you on all points. When the occasion came up to add this book to my collection I jumped at it (even with the small tear). I will probably not upgrade this book due to it's scarcity (and probably to FMV in higher grades). I'm curious about how much the crow 7.0 on comiconnect will go for.
  12. I visited the home of a collector about 15 years ago who owned the original artwork to the Cheap Thrills album. I don't think I have seen the original but it would have been perfect for the show at the Jewish Art Museum in NYC or the cartoon museum in SF. The oa was at the Crumb exhibit in Paris in 2012 and I'm pretty sure that a French collector owns it.
  13. Beautiful copy of a tough, tough book. Nice score!!! Thanks! There is a small tear next to the stamp, otherwise the book is not bad at all. I'm glad to cross this one off my list!!
  14. Here is another book with the same stamp on the cover as some other books I posted last week. I also posted 2 other books with said stamp in the 10 cent thread.
  15. I have never been a big fan of this title except for the Andru/Esposito run. Here's my favorite cover they did during their stint on Wonder Woman.
