  1. I need some help please: I'm looking for the title of the Kubert story from Our Fighting Forces 29, it's the first story of the book. I do not own the book, so I can't check on my own. Comics.org says that the story is titled "Listen to a Jet". I just bought a page of OA from that story, but there's no title on it, but I saw the OA to page 2 and the title is "Letter to a Jet". I'm wondering which title is right. Any help on this would be appreciated! Cheers Mike
  2. The interior on that one is great as well. If you haven't read "Atrocity Story"... well, get to reading! Yes, that story is quite something!
  3. I purchased a bunch of Atlas war books from Don. The books were well packaged and shipped fast. Good communication! I would definitely buy from Don again!
  4. This cover should be broken out as a classic no doubt. I completely agree with you! War Comics 11 sports THE classic Heath flamethrower cover, but this one isn't to bad either.
  5. Here's one of my SDCC pick-ups featuring a really cool Heath cover:
  6. This issue features a nice Everett story Here's the splash:
  7. I think that all of the regular EC artists did great work back then. Each genre had it´s 2 or 3 top artists and they're best work was imo always confined to one genre, except for Wood who did his best stuff for the SF titles and Shock. I can understand that Kamen is not a favorite, but I have always liked his art a lot. He was quite an expert in drawing faces, especially those of women, showing all the different moods his female characters would go through in a story really well. Another expert at this was Schaffenberger on Lois Lane a few years later. Severin was imo one of the best EC War artists. I'm a huge fan of the WW 2 and Korean war stories he did with Elder. Nobody, except Davis was able to make those stories seem so real. They really managed to show what those soldiers went through when they were in the field, not having washed for days, some full of fear, advancing in the dirt towards their next battle... But all the artists were great at EC, I just think that Kamen and Severin deserved a special mention.
  8. I went wild today and purchased 2 Toth pages and 1 twice-up pre Sgt. Rock Kubert page. The first Toth page is from Creepy 75: Phantom of Pleasure Island, page 8 The second Toth page is an "unpublished" splash which was recently printed in Genius Illustrated, the second Toth book published by IDW on page 251. The Kubert page is from Our Fighting Forces 29 (1957). I guess that means no more OA for me until the end of the year.
  9. Right. My understanding is that if you don't allow him to complete the deal, then you can't put him on the probation list. Completing a deal is the way for deadbeat buyers (and sellers) to get off the list. So, you can refuse to sell to him -- given 30 days passed without his paying -- but in that case you can't put him on the probation list. Or you can put him on the probation list, but then you have to be willing to complete the deal with him, after which he would come off the list. I'm a little cofused here. I do not want to hold the books for him for months in hope that he will eventually come forward to close the deal. After all he is at fault here, since he did not complete our transaction by payment for the books. I want to be able to offer the books in my next sales thread. This will not be possible if he's put on the probation list, since you stated that I should be willing to complete the deal with him. Then let's not put him on the probation list. This way I can sell the books. What if he decides that he finally wants to go through with the deal in let's say a month or so? Imagine he just paypals me the money for the books, but that I have sold them in that time. Then he can probably put me on the probation list, because I don't have the books anymore. Weird, don't you think? Cheers Mike
  10. I'd like to thank everybody for their input. I also think that the buyer should have made payment by the end of June or early July at the latest. I never agreed that payment could be made at a later date. I was just "nice" and did not give him any bull when I send him a PM that he should make payment and he just said that he would pay later on. I send him a PM today in which I let him know that I posted a message about this in this thread and that I did not want to conclude our deal anymore since I lost my trust in him. I will wait until tomorrow to see if he has anything to say about this. I will reveal his user name if he doesn't give me a reasonable explanation until then. I hope that he will then be included in the probation list, not only because I am annoyed by bis comportment, but also to protect other sellers or buyers from him. Thanks Mike
  11. No, he did not. He didn't post anything since the end of June.
  12. I'm having a problem with a guy who purchased three Batman's (9, 34, 74) from my sales thread on June 26th 2013. I send him a PM with the amount to pay on June 27th. He didn't send me any PM after that. On July 8th I send him the following PM: Hi Sam Just a quick reminder on the books you purchased: Batman 9, 34 and 74 for a total of $225 I will post an update with a few price reductions in an hour or so. I would appreciate if you could make payment before the 11th of July. I will be able to make it to the post office one last time on Friday. After that I'm of to Comic-Con. Best Mike He send me the following PM on July 10th: Thank you Mike, Paypal has a hold on a large sale I had and the funds are only being released on July 15th. I can wait till you get back. I will pay on the 15th upon clearing. Sincerely, Sam To which I responded: No problem Sam I will not be able to ship the books before the 26th though. Best Mike To which he responded: OK thank you I checked my PM's when I returned from Comic-Con and found no new message from him (I did not receive any payment through paypal). I send him the following pm on July 25th: Hi Sam I'm just back from Comic-Con. Please paypal me payment for the Batman's whenever you are ready. Best Mike He responded on July 27th: Thanks Mike will do. Should have it by Tuesday \:\) I send him a thumps up on July 28th. I did not receive any payment on said Tuesday. I send him the following PM the following day (July 31st) Hi Sam Please make payment within the next 12 hours Best Mike This message appears as unread, which does not mean much, since you can read all PM's in your e-mails. I must say that I'm quiet annoyed by this. I do not wish to close the deal with him, since he clearly can NOT be trusted. Should he be put on the probation list?
  13. I sold a Vault of Horror 39 to Andrew. Great communication and fast payment. I would definitely deal with Andrew again! (thumbs u
  14. My low grade addition to the club. I purchased this years ago, way before the book exploded.
  15. David purchased a couple of GA books from me. He made fast payment and communication was great. I would most certainly deal with David again. (thumbs u
  16. The thing is that the 10 centers aren't cheap in higher grades. I'm focusing on the cheaper 12 centers at the moment, but I will definitely dive into the 10 centers as soon as I have completed my 10 cent SA Flash. I am likely to go for Atlas war books in the future, but it's tough to get your hands on nicer copies. I snatched up some reading copies at SDCC, but had no luck finding nicer copies.
  17. Here is the second book with crow pages I picked up at SDCC. I have been wanting to upgrade this book for quite some time now. When I came upon this I went for it, because I liked the condition and the price was right. And of course because I just love black covers in higher grades. Thanks to Brian and Kenny for making this happen!
  18. I also picked up this nice copy of OAAW 143:
