  1. Nope...I generally like everything Marvel puts out there...silver screen and Netflix. Totally agree with AGGIEZ. And CAK, did you ever consider the people who are saying it's awful are saying that because it truly is, and those people can recognize bad acting and poor writing when they see it? Wow, not even worth respondi . . . . ng ....but you did, in a childish manner. If you have something constructive to say please say it. I stand behind my question to CAK, it's ridiculous of him to make broad generalizations about the "type" of person who doesn't like Luke Cage.

And CAK, did you ever consider the people who are saying it's awful are saying that because it truly is, and those people can recognize bad acting and poor writing when they see it? No. I'm going to have to agree. I have not delved into it yet, but it has received pretty good reviews from sources who actually do reviews for a living. Ygogolak, probably should watch it before you side with the critics. My point is that the acting and writing are poor across the board for this show, and many of the reviews I've read have focused on the community-aspect of the story and the unique music, but personally the strength of those aspects doesn't change the fact that it has really awful acting and writing. My reply to CAK was in reference to the fact that I'm not a DOJ or Suicide Squad hater, and there are other legit reasons to not like the Luke Cage series.
  3. Please tell me this is super dry sarcasm Wait....did you think the acting was good in Buffy and Firefly? If so, then I believe that you believe Luke Cage is the best show you've seen in a while. it's called having an opinion. just like you have one, which i don't knock, so don't ever knock mine. for those of you who don't like the show, or just think it's okay...that's completely fine, but don't ever in your life insult people who happen to love this show. First of all, calm down. I was making a joke, it was meant to be humorous, but my apologies for striking a nerve with you. Humor is tough to relay through online forums, and so is scolding, so how about we avoid both from now on? Cheers, and enjoy the rest of the show.

  6. I wouldn't give up on it. That would be too quick a decision. I'm through episode 4 and it leaps forward in interest and quality in Ep 2 and again in 4. My wife and I muscled through the first 2 episodes but still undecided whether or not to continue. I can't recall a show with worse acting. Colter's crying scene had me in tears....tears of laughter. I really don't want to miss out on plot points that could be important for Jessica Jones season 2 or the Defenders, but this show is painful to watch.
  7. 12 minutes into the first episode and I don't know if I can continue. Worst. Acting. Ever. I was worried about Colter being able to handle a season in his own, and yes he's truly awful, but I think some of the supporting characters are waaaaay worse. Yeeesh.
  8. Felt like I was reading something from the early days of Image. I'm a big Remender fan but wasn't crazy about this. I respect Opena's talent but insanily detailed art isn't really my thing. Will probably read it in trade.
  9. Awesome book Rob! Drooled on my iPhone screen a little bit...
  10. Just read issue 1. Story is okay, but I could not get past the blatant Julianne Moore swipes for Mrs Briggs. Seriously distracted me from the plot and almost ruined the book for me.
  11. Finally watched this today. By far, without a doubt, the worst superhero movie I've ever seen. Breathtakingly awful. Still kind of in shock. Since I'm not a DC guy and I don't want to read all 700+ pages of this thread, can someone humor me and shed some insight into: Thanks!
  12. Happy for Cliff! Crazy how many times Joelle Jones was nominated but didn't win. She deserved one too.
  13. Welcome to the boards I don't think you'll find anyone laughing at ones original art here, this is the cool kids thread
  14. Thanks! Acrylic is a little stickier than the India ink I'm used to but it's fun to try new things from time to time.
  15. Portrait I just did of my wife. Black acrylic paint on 16"x20" canvas.
  16. Might be my favorite post of all time. In all seriousness that's some impressive acrylic work!
  17. Just out of curiosity, would you tell an author not to go to college and study English? Or a welder not to go to college? A cook? Actually I think culinary school is a good example. Having worked in some upscale kitchens growing up, I heard a lot of opinions on culinary school. Many said they made it on their own and made good money now. However, a lot of them got an instant foot in the door because of culinary school. They didn't have to work at the local chain flipping burgers. It had its advantages and disadvantages. If someone cooked one meal then said they are going to Vienna to study culinary arts I would roll my eyes. I agree with this logic...but if the meal they cooked was as good as the OPs painting....well that might change things a bit.
  18. You're being kinda passive aggressive and childish about all this. The OP didn't start this thread to be talked out of art school. Support him or don't...the last thing someone needs before a major life change is a bunch of doubt brought on by disgruntled forum posters. You've made your point all ready. You have no idea what the OP wants. He PM'd me and thanked me for my comments-he said that was exactly what he was hoping for-it is a major life decision and he wanted the pros and cons. Glad to hear it. Really doesn't excuse your childish behavior or make up for your uncanny ability to constantly make other people's threads about you. It's tired and old, Kav.
  19. There is a very very valid reason for this. And not just because of my biased opinion. The facts are out there and very plain for anyone to see.

  21. this is just a ridiculous presupposition. Kav, your opinions are naturally heavily influenced by your own personal experiences of pursuing a career as an artist, but it appears the OP is looking for a different artistic career path than you, so maybe consider offering advice based on what might be best for the OP rather than what has or has not worked for you. Kinda sad that this thread has been more about Kav than the OP. Chase your dreams in Italy, OP
  22. My bad. Just had a baby, haven't slept in days...spelling is low on my priorities list
