  1. you know, this thread really deserves a good easter egg. Here's a recent pickup.
  2. Something about a thread that says "nothing to see here" makes me click on it faster than any other actual post
  3. one thing I noticed when I was going after the more fun 73 is that they extended the bidding another round when an underbid came in, I thought that was odd. If the book is set to close and you are the high bidder, it seems strange to me that bidding is extended on a lower bid.
  4. ok now the wallet drain has started but I'm happy with the price I got it for
  5. they really spread the wallet fatigue over a couple days here, still waiting to take a crack at some pretty big books that aren't crossing the block for another couple days.
  6. cc really needs to overhaul their search UI unless they really want their customers to slog through every book in the auction to find titles they want. It feels like a homework assignment every time they have one of these big auctions to sift through so many books. Would be helpful to partition out the golden age books for example. You can search for pedigree and artist but not for Silver or Golden Age? Seems silly.
  7. I'm a contrarian and I think now is a good time to buy Supes and ACs. They don't know what the hell to do with this character in the movies, it's all been a bit of a disaster lately and once that is squared away, he'll return to grace. I started loading up on Joker covers a year ago and all they've done is go up and up as we get closer to what looks like it might be a decent movie and I don't think that's a coincidence.
  8. "nothing is more expensive than regret" - got to be the best auctioneer quote I've ever heard. This guy is a classic.
  9. If I really need to find an Archie 50 or a Ginger 4 not that much of a problem. But this Torchy I find much harder and would buy a copy in a NY min if possible.
  10. cool. I wasn't sure of the origins but it's antique with inlaid mother of pearl.
  11. This depiction of Cap is hideous. I would go with a Fantastic Comics #16 to be more inclusive, but I don't have a copy.
  12. I blame myself. I think I started a thread on on Ginger 4 being the poor man's Archie 50 on these same boards a while back before it started to heat up. I think we have to go further down the food chain now and look at Katy Keene 62 being the poor man's Ginger 4 now
  13. that's sucks. I have a storage locker in a facility that has all the typical protocols and I do not put books in there, I don't feel solid about it. I put other in that storage locker.
  14. 1) buy more cool golden age books that I like and seem awesome 2) figure out where to start storing some of these slabbed books that is secure and makes sense. The books are taking over my place. 3) go to a few more cons just to hang out and feel the vibe and drink beers
  15. Thanks. I now have all the books I have framed on the wall and this was some extra motivation.
  16. happy new year. Got my first book of the year already.
