Regardless of the prelim debate, just assume anything for sale by los bros with the term ‘unused’ is a scam.

Heritage Nov 16-19 Signature Auction

Maybe a little low, but his NM pages without the NM are generally affordable. -
Yup. There’s a lot better Valiant pieces at lower prices up on eBay, so best of luck to the seller on the flips.

I guess Clink is prime flipper feeding grounds. Dazzler 16 page 8 sold 10.24.23 for 625. Now available for 1500. https://www.ebay.com/itm/145433299457?hash=item21dc800a01:g:7M4AAOSwzkJlUng2&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4Eg44RugPgEFie3mhTDmSFSoezTsgBXMWkzuT86hcf038TyV0jGStm4GCijt3LNNeCVkm%2FBgq5lRnYe%2F6IPhHAHDwKfYVb0x2Hua%2FXM1p%2BtB7dT91duGW9t%2Fclv0hLqy9EVy4Gi1wjQai9HqtFJV%2BqvEZp6pvcyYkcVVOvgOxAtcE18rxFdeuF%2F%2FTgSTHclW%2FFXR4wVSP1ZnnHyvGY0CxGweunH0bxpCw1L9sPtgAqgONXpYQI9VpxdXMj0Zwghp2hmLvFjQjD33JWoExBMdGWPbSCiqggnEOBfU3sYWO88N|tkp%3ABk9SR47ezb36Yg

It’s not like Los Bros are the only shady dealers. And people seem to forget an admitted shiller is part owner of CAF. In the end, Bill is running a business and it’s not his job to police the comic art market, nor do I think he should be in that role.

Bought one piece. Around market, maybe slightly higher. But it wasn’t one of the many recycled pieces, so I’m happy. A few others I’m eyeing that I might make offers on tmrw if nothing new I like is added.
-
There are definitely some misses I regret not going harder for over the years, with many not being seen since auction. On the opposite end, there are times I’ve gone super hard and was surprised I didn’t win - only to see those pieces quickly turn up on dealer sites. In those situations, I’m glad I didn’t bid higher. Yes, I could’ve made the dealers pay up more, but I also could have won at a ridiculously inflated price.

I’m always surprised when high ticket items ‘sell’ at auction and are back up so quick. Sold last year at HA for 144K. Wonder what the price is now? -
Yeah, it seems like every HA thread gets OT AF at some point. I like getting the reset of a new auction thread. Agree with putting the auction dates in the thread title.
-
I have around 5 commissions that didn’t work for a variety of reasons. They’re in my miscellaneous itoya that I figure I’ll donate to a hero initiative auction at some point. Maybe someone else can appreciate them if I can’t. Or if I get super ornery as I age, I’ll just make a CAF folder for pieces that don’t work. So altruism or scorched earth. TBD.

Anyone going to Baltimore Comic-Con?
cloud cloddie replied to Michael (OML)1's topic in Original Comic Art
It was not the published cover - it was a reinterpretation done for the auction. It was still awesome tho. -
-
It was interesting seeing some of the pieces purchased not long ago, offered several times since, not even come close to the reserves.

As long as my dog sitter gets back from Burning man. -
The Official This Seller is on Crack thread
cloud cloddie replied to MyNameIsLegion's topic in Original Comic Art
That’s the most combative one, but there are some other sales threads that aren’t very flattering. I remember there was a thread that had a lot of back and forth, but pretty sure it was scrubbed. -

Yeah, site may be back up, but so many links are f***ed still. Be careful where you click.

Neither are particularly speedy. But apples to apples, I won stuff on CC June 5 and HA weekly June 7. HA arrived this past Monday the 26. I still have not gotten a shipping notice from CC.

June 2023 Heritage Signature Auction #7340
cloud cloddie replied to grapeape's topic in Original Comic Art
Yeah, I expected a healthy price between Sienkiewicz fans and first appearance chasers… but lord. -
Generally I think artists like doing new things. You do get the opposite occasionally. I got up with a veteran artist about 6 months ago about a commission and he entertained the convo, but when I requested characters he had done an issue of back in the day, he wasn’t interested. I thanked him and moved on, but he does the same 4 or 5 characters over and over (expertly, but still) so I thought he might enjoy the change. Nope. Not to be, and I’m ok with that.
