  1. You think? I actually rewrote the section going from art to comics. It still feels clunky. You get the idea but it doesn’t have a nice flow to it. I always struggle with wanting my writing to sound informative and authoritative without being artificially ornate and “wordy”.
  2. There eventually will need to be a breakdown of different periods pertaining to original art that is separate from the way comic books are broken down by era (Gold, Bronze, Copper, etc). It will need to be based on not only the physical size and story content, but also for the mechanical process by which the art was created and stored.
  3. You know whats funny, ive actually watched a lot of t20 IPL cricket. Its kind of enjoyable actually. Test im sure is more pure but I find t20 more enjoyable to watch.
  4. 1. The New Mutants due to Sienkiewicz 2. Daredevil due to Miller. 3. Shadow due to Kaluta (DOA before him for generation). 4. Warlock due to Starlin.
  5. I actually know a comic book shop he goes to multiple times a year to pick up older material.
  6. If there are going to be multiple covers and variants for every issue, eventually covers might not contain the premium when compared to regular pages that we are used to seeing. They will of course be worth more because they are covers and they tend to be well done. But an interior narrative-important full page splash might eventually be worth just as much as a cover by the same artist because it’s the only one and it is also “cover quality”.
  7. Whilce Portacio, but like the rest of the drawings in the back it was pencilled before being inked. So potentially it’s adams/portacio
  8. Picked up an Art Adam’s Longshot origin page from 5. As it shows up the guy tells me there is stuff on the back. Indeed there was. What a perfect Adam’s Surfer among other good work.
  9. i would assume GDT because he is a huge collector of comic art.
  10. Al Williamson was such a perfect inker for those guys who did line heavy more emotional work. JRJR, Leonardi, Blevins were perfect for his style of inking.
  11. In the 80s a great page from the previous era might set you back the cost of a nice meal or two. Today a great page from the previous era likely will set you back likely the cost of a flight to Europe or an average mortgage payment (and I’m not even factoring in the very top tiers like jim Lee xmen or McFarlane Spider-Man). That strikes me as limiting who can get into the hobby. That seems unsustainable and will hurt the market eventually.
  12. Actually I’d like 100 different $10,000 pieces. That’s exactly my wheel house with a few exceptions.
  13. There is just as much art available for the copper age as the late silver and complete bronze ages. It never made any sense to me that the page values for years were so much less across the board. In the end I feel a lot of 80s pages and covers will be more coveted than 70s and 60s counterparts.
  14. The mechanical color separations, each layer printed on its own sheet. Guess that’s something neat.
  15. Yeah I’m thinking about that one too. Anyone with one drop me a line if looking for a cash sale .
  16. The committee has approved this average cover by this throughly non-special and non-influential “artist” only @ 30k. All bids over that will be meet with scorn and derision by our party loyalists. :::takes off ARTSOC hat::: Its nice but the content isn’t really hitting me. I would be surprised at 75.
  17. Coming dangerously close to heresy there, Jr committee member. Don’t attempt to “raise the average” even in jest.
  18. Pete has been struggling this year. I think next year will be much better. I think he needs a crowd and a long season because he is hyper emotional and feeds of it...but because of that he can get super hot or go super cold. His cards have held in price though. The guys holding 4 and 5 figure Zion cards are what shock me. I never open basketball but I’ve seen his stats and highlights, he doesn’t look like a transcendent player from those. Luka does though, god his stuff is pure fire right now. Im not gonna hit anything like I did Alonso (cause he was a common at the time) but I love Kyle Lewis stuff. He is already known and he isn’t cheap but compared to Luis Robert prices it’s a bargain. Only knock is he is old for a rookie, but he could have 10 great years ahead of him. Plus he seems to be a great guy and that’s the special sauce when it comes to hobby love IMO. You want a cheap buy and hold compared to Luis it’s him. LOL it’s turned into the Blowout Cards Forum in this thread. Sorry about that.
  19. I have been doing a lot with cards for years, but I’m starting to get nervous especially with basketball and baseball modern. These box prices on 4 year old or less material is not sustainable.
  20. The unspeakable one of no discernible talent or importance would NEVER be allowed to touch an ARTSOC high value authorized investment grade artist such as Jim!!! Your file grows with each passing day, take heed!
