  1. Back to the auction, lot of good sales today and a few deals. I really loved that Blackhawk but I just couldn’t pull the trigger over 5k. Ended up with one buy and a few misses.
  2. Nope sold them because I worked at a card shop in Ann Arbor back in 2000-2001. He sold well, I had a lot of his cards when I was a dealer in the area for cards. I had one that got severely damaged and I think I still have back at my dads house, but I’ve never had the urge to go back and look and prove/disprove the theory…maybe some day.
  3. What are they worth now? Well considering one was 10/100 the numbered rare parallel and all three had good corners and would grade 9 and potentially a ten on the parallel…2.5 million maybe?
  4. I still remember holding 3 Tom Brady Contenders autograph rookies I pulled from packs and thinking “what crappy luck I have”….who knew…
  5. I have stuff not in there first week but in the next. I’m thinking after a few weeks the serious buyers will figure it out but still to be seen.
  6. I recently consigned some pieces to HA and when I checked I noticed they were all ending on A Wednesday instead of the normal Monday I have become accustomed to. I spoke with my rep and he explained that Wednesday was the new day all weekly comic art will be sold on, it will be it’s own auction from now on. Thoughts on this? Do you think moving art to its own weekly auction will help? Were you aware the change occurred starting this week?
  7. Oh good, for a second there I thought the price was something comically absurd.
  8. Ok sure, really good zeck 80s panel pages are now around 40k…why not…
  9. I don’t bid much against rich people. But I saw a cover I loved, the marvel saga, and went for it. Guess even the off brands are now 15k+, lesson learned.
  10. $595?!? For the un-named one?! Better be a cover all’s I’m sayin…
  11. Not gonna lie when I read the title I got very excited. I thought there was going to finally be a new live show/con not on the very edge of the country and more towards the middle (where likely a majority of art collectors like me live). I still wish there was an official Comicartfans.com convention somewhere near Chicago (or there abouts) that could convince some folks not in the NYC or LA corridors to come out and showcase their wares.
  12. Again, I have a hard time with hanging a piece of paper on my wall worth the average cost of a new BMW and then calling this "a hobby".
  13. Lost every bid, was only even underbidder on one lot (turner trading card). Oh well, I'm cheap what can ya do?
  14. Over-under on number of people who reached out to math teacher after they posted this? Im putting the line at 5.
  15. True, but at the same time these 35 variants have print runs in the low hundreds, and many got destroyed. Its like a Mark Jewelers variant only its actually rare. People are paying for the rarity of the book, its like card collecting mentality where everyone knows the gold is /10 so people pay stupid prices just based on known tiny print run. They aren't paying that huge price premium because the cover is just so awesome, its the rarity driving value. It feels like uninformed people putting money where "expert-in-the-box" tells them to, that ends badly for all parties eventually because there is nothing permanent in that.
  16. What makes me feel uneasy about these price increases is that it feels artificial or at least not very well thought out. For example I collect 35 cent price variants. They are actually rare when compared to normal print runs (lot of speculation as to how rare, lets just say i only find really them on eBay and hardly ever at shows after 30 years of looking). Yet they haven't experienced much of a price increase over the last few years where as modern variants, printed in similar numbers and all 100 percent accounted for, have shot through the roof. These are books from an era with strong collector interest, condition issues, and have managed to inspire many movies and TV shows....yet the prices on the hardest to find collectables from the era are stagnant to slightly elevating. That's an issue to me, it tells me there is something not smart about these price increases. It helps me out to keep prices low since I'm not really a seller of variants just a hoarder...BUT it also makes little sense if I am to believe the overall market is full of well informed collectors/investors with realistic expectations and solid reasoning behind what they are willing to bid in auction for this material. Something doesn't add up (in general with a lot of the market reactions we are seeing in collectables and in specific with price variants).
  17. WHAT BLASPHEMY IS THIS?!?!?! TO SAY THE UNCLEAN ONES NAME ALOUD WITH NO FEAR OF REPRISAL!?!?!
  18. 1. Robert Dennis can remove that for you, he did it for me on a Frenz ASM page last year. 2. Before you sell the art to someone who PM'd you from your post, make sure to do research for comps.
  19. Him, Dom, and McNeil kinda been F'ng us so far this season but they appear to be turning it around.
  20. It’s like a 6.5 outta 10. Had this been anything other than issue 1 page 1 it’s like a 10-14k page. a boring page from same issue sold a few months back for 2k with juice. On a cheapy garbage site like fleabay this price makes a lot of sense.
