  1. I think the eBay seller is Matt Stock, and the guy selling on CAF is EE. There two different guys right?
  2. Actually I sometimes wonder how a basic economy would even work in 100 years. The notion of buying and selling stocks and bonds and instruments based on them is VERY 19th century. I would imagine in 100 years the very idea as to what an "economy" is will be vastly different then what we understand it as today. It will have gone through so many changes to adapt/survive the upcoming conflicts between opposing economic viewpoints and regional markets it will be very alien to anything we know today, and because of that its going to be hard to force it to fit into our frame work of understanding. It's like we are trying to predict the size of the strike zone in 100 years, when we don't even know if the game will still involve a batter and pitcher. Maybe in the end if a tool (which is all physical possession really is) helps you get food, find a mate/procreate, keep you warm, or keeps you from being robbed...it will have value. If it doesn't do any of those things its really just of passing value and eventually will fall to the wayside.
  3. Actually, anyone know of a good scanner for CGC books? My art scanner just cant adjust its focus so when i scan i get the reflection on the glass and the comic is fuzzy and out of place.
  4. There are plenty of brand new multi function 11x17 capable scanner/printers to be had. I use an HP I got brand new for 200 last year. Only issue is I can't change the depth of field to scan cgc books properly. But for art it's professional quality.
  5. Is anyone really putting nice unchipped copies of AF for sale in auction format on EBAY? I see BIN for full retail, and it seems everytime the copy either has heavy chipping OR is priced at what would be a record price for BIN. Anyone seen an auction format ebay sale of a mid-high grade AF 15 without chipping recently?
  6. Were buying collections of ink, paper, and staples for 5 and 6 figures....were paying paying mortgage payments to out right full house values to land 11x17 inch sheets of paper drawn by artists who maybe did 1000+ very similar examples over the years. Everything is subjective, everything is stupid if you look at it this way. Having the single best iconic item from something loved by millions and millions of fans and collectors...people just go nuts when its the best possible As for the poster...the more i think about it, the more I think that piece was a good value. I wonder how many were made.
  7. Now how many they made, i dont know. Also remember there will be stunt ones, stuntman ones. But those close up hero ones they only make 1-2 usually as i understand it. If you want to see something cool, here is the refit "toysrgus" site star wars prop links. These are all legit ones folks have posted over the years. http://theswca.com/images-props.html
  8. 7800 E for a poster? I know everything is relative or explainable blah blah but jeez. if it had rickman and the rest (including coltane, also impossible) and the image was more like a star wars jam image not this goofy thing....Id pay 5k for it just to close the door on the ultimate HP piece.
  9. Its Alan Rickman. Alan was famous for refusing to sign HP stuff after the first movie. To see him on a no question cast piece, that is so all encompassing....wow. Now, the image sucks a little no doubt, but that its a cast item 100% iron clad signed for production purposes (gifts) is just lights out on fire. I don't think i've ever seen a full cast signed with rickman before. I have heard of one guy who has Rickman and Harris on a Sorcerers Stone poster, that's about it.
  10. It seems like the starlord mask is pretty well the best or one of the best things you could get for guardians. The SW equivalent would be like the screen used vader mask or something. Which would have blown the starlord out of the water. A case of apples being compared to oranges? There are other Y-wings i believe, including at Lucas' private collection. He kept the vast majority of props, thats why anything star wars is so valuable. The way he treats his comic art is the way he treats his props, he is very child-like and possessive like that. Bronty you are very right. What else is more identifiable for Guardians? Maybe if they did a physical model for lighting of the "Milano", but with CGI its just so rare to see that anymore. Physical props like the mask are the best option available, and there is really one 1 of them in private hands it seems. Heck, a light up Ironman helmet worn by Downey , even though after all these films there are probably a few, would kill as well. That or a Thor Hammer (again though, there are many of them).
  11. Remember though, that was a straight up Hero version of the mask. Very screen identifiable and unique. The Y wing was a miniature and those exist out there, and it had condition issues which aren't super paramount in props but they can affect price. I think scale really matters to many collectors and hero props matter most because of the fact they can be tied directly to the character/star in question who used them in pivotal scenes. The Y Wing was great, but it was from ROTJ not ANH or ESB, and there are others out there. That Hero mask was one of a kind in the market. I love star wars props, I own a few of them, but If given a choice between the mask and the model I'd take the Mask.
  12. Meh, just checked, he after fees broke even. I thought about going after the McQuarrie Hoth study, but I haven't bought a prop or star wars prod art piece in years. But that caught my eye.
  13. HAHA, I used to own lot 447! I sold that years ago. Wonder what it sold for now.
  14. Ive been following the running updates all yesterday from other prop collectors, the big wow was the Star Lord mask.
  15. Oh My God is this tool amazing. I love it when smart people tackle problems and come up with good solutions. Thank you very much for this!
  16. This book seems criminally underpriced considering what a cultural phenom the X-men have been, and how huge they were to comics for so long.
  17. I know, right? The Perez Marvel Tales 261 cover is at $3.6K and looks stoopid cheap in comparison. Spiderman vs Hobgoblin. I used to own that cover and it is very nice. You know, if you think about it Sauvik has probably drawn spider-man on as many covers and stories as any artist ever. He defined a decade of Web of Spider-man, and this is probably his best cover to have from that run. I don't know, I've seen crazy prices for Black suit 80s Spidey pages, not THAT shocking to see this piece above 7k....10k I don't know but I can see 7k pretty easy I think. If you collect iconic stuff by known guys working on signature books, those items can set goofy prices when it all washes out.
  18. After seeing this topic I decided to check on my tracking bids/would love to steal it for this bids and was surprised to see one is still winning. Its going to be an interesting auction.
  19. Hola, all sold Items shipped. If interested in anything not claimed in the thread drop me a line or say ill take it. Ill close it up tonight otherwise.
  20. Really? Now i never would have thought that much fall off.
  21. Haha, fair enough. Soon as i wrote that I thought "man, i hope that didnt sound dismissive". My bad.
  22. Hmm, good point. I really only buy CGC not the other 2 but overall i sorta considered Voldy just 5% under CGC sales wise so i just figured you can get a gauge by that. Do you find that to be case also?
  23. That's My point, I'm not trying to S-post or call out GPA as bad, but it feels like a lot of AF15 sales are missing when they shouldn't be, so i'm just surprised and it makes me concerned what else could I be missing. GPA isn't my only tool of course to gauge when buying but it is a very useful one. I was just showing a little concern about potentially issues with data points missing when there is no clear reason why they shouldn't be. I'm a paying customer, this is the "buying AF15" thread so I feel its completely legit to point out a concern is all.
  24. I thought bob said the book in question was in his hands and is a confirmed legit sale, so i thought that meant the sale completed?
  25. so some random middle of the road CC sales from a few weeks ago are already showing up...but game changing historic sale of the biggest book in the hobby (ALSO by CC) from 6 months still cant find its way to GPA? And the book is already in Bob's hands so the sale it seems went through. I just dont get it, what the hold up/thought is. It makes me feel uneasy im not gonna lie.
