Ya I thought the last was $120k, so I actually thought it had improved,  until in the tmnt thread I saw the last was $150k. It actually didn't do too bad. :)

Wow, so we're looking at a $30k spread at the moment, so depending on which way the wind blows on a particular auction, you might save yourself the price of a moderately nice small car.

I think at this level, bidders are working with larger margins of error, so to speak.

I'm surprised the "turtles" did so well, I thought it might drop.

I thinking it'll perform like a lot of the big books, with regular peaks and troughs on prices.   $132k is a long way off from the high of $250K (shrug)

Episode 1: It can feel a little disjointed. It's just that first episode to catch the audience up on Hawkeye (2021) while connecting to Netflix's Daredevil (2015). So it can feel like it hobbles the story.

Episode 2: It's now flowing smoother to continue the story without excessive flashbacks. And she's coming into her powers more.

    I like it so far.

I liked episode 1, I thought it had lot's of layers to it.

As you well know I'm a jaded MCU fan at this point, but I genuinely enjoyed this first episode.    And most importantly the main character works for me.   She carries off the role well, and the story line matches her own complexity.   The supporting characters, while a little on the cliche'd side, the actors bring their gravitas to their roles.    The casting director did a good job.

Alright alright. I hereby retract my statement that FF #48 is plentiful and a warehouse copy.

All good. I was more implying there are different rules for different books in this hobby.

You are absolutely right about the 2 Thor issues, high grades are plentiful, and I even think one of the issues has a 9.9 graded copy.   No one should get excited about a high grade copy of those books.

But looking at the CGCdata website, the most highly subbed books in the hobby, have fantastic sales data attached to them.    But that's only one area of many great area's we see top recurring sales prices, and price appreciation in the hobby.

ASM 1 9.8 Curator Pedigree.  I'm not sure if pedigree grade is counted as universal, but the census shows only 2 in 9.8.  Highest grade, this should hit over a mil.

Wasn't FF #48 a "Warehouse" book? Along with #54? Like Thor #132 & 156? I thought there were cases upon cases of this in NM/NM+ scattered all over the place.

Be careful when implying a book is plentiful.   If the demand exceeds the supply, that is the main force in play on the price of that book.

FF#48 is true key, with an amazing cover, the warehouse find status has lost relevance for this book.

Here's a mislabeled and misgraded that looks more 9.8 than 9.6 on flaws. A good pressing and cleaning will definitely make this worth the high 9.8 price.

Well worth a plunge...though even at half the asking price, that would be too much.

Instead thanks to CGC polling some "Trusted members of the community " this is what the label for that book looked like.Hulk1.jpg.a3536e8699eb7e3fe673009a3f7cee81.jpg.d171633728479a528436170e4da7ae6e.jpg

Owning that book must feel like a trip to Thailand, and seeing a bunch of lady boy's for the first time... technically its looks right, but deep down is a really bad surprise :roflmao:

Just wanted to provide an update. The dataset has expanded to 1483 listings, as two different accounts have been confirmed by myself, based on patterns I examined that connected the two. This dataset is sure to expand with the information shared thus far on 4 other possible accounts. I prefer to make that determination independently simply because the notion of doubling my efforts (previously only 778 listings tied to this seller) is one that needs to be measured, particularly in order to make the best use of time.

I quickly scanned through some of the comments, and I just wanted to show this graphic below to reveal one of the patterns I analyze to help with pinpointing potential matches. The colour coded items in the list show the repeating pattern of items which were triggering a recorded sale. While you don't see the dates of these sales, you can see the number of the record set, and that gap should give some indication of passage in time between each time the same item, with the same certification number reappeared for sale, and was recorded as a past sale comparable. The record numbered 196 is the parting point, where I have found 6 Hulk 181's that went from green to blue (records 16-166), and also signifies where the activities of the the second seller alias begins (166-1242). This is where I am focusing my attention, however I am also needing to verify these other aliases and whether I will need to expand the data set. It's a lot of information to sift through, but the patterning has been a help, and I wanted most to share this because this shouldn't be recognized as just any dealer activity, this is someone with motivations to subvert the variables, not only in how we assign value commensure to grade, but how the market determines value based on comparables. Something that as an appraiser concerns me greatly, and which I expanded on recently in another post where I describe "immitation bubbles." This seller not only exploited a number of the variables in the system, but took it to a whole new level.

    briva-zaneglor-list.jpg.433057a63810847d1307ee530aea8ad3.jpg

Below is a Worthpoint screenshot of the very first item from 2016 (number 1242 from the record set), which ties into the above intermingled listings between two different eBay seller accounts, and the red outlined slogan he's used throughout.

    Hulk181-55-2015.thumb.png.a099271f3efa22bc33f2502c4043fdcd.png

So what are we looking there.  A clear trend of repeated sales of the same books, across multiple accounts, building at Sales results for the various grades for #181.

What does the number at the start of each line interference to?

This guy looks like a one man market avalanche at this point.   The price escalation (manipulation) of 181 was triggered, or pushed along by a fraudster by the look of things.   It will be interesting to see how much the global pharma consortium exacerbated the FOMO in the rest of the hobby for this book.    I'm thinking not that much, at this point.   This guy alone had things moving along.

Everyone watch this episode, these guys nail this subject, top to bottom.    The hobby is bigger than CGC, and it's a heck of a lot bigger than the CGC detractors, and this podcast covers all of concerns, and interest in the hobby. and looking forward with CGC taking the appropriate steps needed.

So I’m just picking shows randomly and I decided on the Hela episode since I’m a big Thor fan. Not sure about the plot line on that one.

Agreed. but episode 7, and 8 represent an upswing in the quality of writing, so I'm not dissecting it too much at this point.

So just a Dr Strange episode to go to tie them all together.

I've enjoying the Captain Carter recurring theme.  Her character was particularly well portrayed in the first season.    So much so I went. back watched the Agent Carter series.   It looks like gold compared Disney's efforts lately.

So far 1/4 have been good..  The Sharon Carter episode has been the best.  The other three I feel I could have done something better with that 1.5 hours.

I’m in the same camp. The best episode so far was the Sharon Carter Episode.

    I'm sitting on 1/5 I actually enjoyed.

The Sharon Carter episode was the best, but somehow lacked the x factor to the story line.   There was no emotional buy in from me, something was missing.

The 2nd series is sitting on a solid 6/10 so far.

The Kahhori episode was good, but has zero relevance to the MCU, so it's a big fat (shrug)

So this 9.8 Mark Jewellers Secret Wars 8 is at $3,349 and ends in less than two hours. I believe it was a member of the boards who posted this book, as was mentioned earlier in the thread. It looks like a legit 9.8, coming from a trustworthy source.

Meanwhile our friend Briva's book "sold" for over 21k a few weeks ago. I doubt this was an actual sale, as he ended it early and was obviously shill bidded to the moon... Yet still I feel real bad for the trustworthy seller who is going to take a massive hit because of scumbag Briva.

Check out the thread in Comics General, this is most likely not a true 9.8 and a scam.

The numbers on CPV's are virtually non existent in the top grade.   And new books aren't consistently coming onto the market in the top grades.   Hence why the CGC case fraud thread has not included a CPV to date.

You can't swap out the slab, and the 60c price change to 75c.   CPV's are immune to this scam, aside from slab to slab for lower grade copies being swapped in.   The best candidates again will be ASM #252, #238, MSHSW #8, Thor #337.   Even with the biggest pop CPVs, there's not a steady supply of books to draw upon.

  16. Can we have a show of hands around replacing the first C?

    1. Close enough Guarantee Company ...CEGC
    2. Casually graded Guarantee Company .... CGGC
    3. Run away from issues Guarantee Company .... TCC (the customers are chumps)

The first C has taken a really big hammering in the last few days across the internet, and the silence from Sarasota is the biggest impact on that.

Hello. I am the Ebay buyer that purchase the two Amazing Spider-Man 238s Newsstand from briva3 or Comic Selects  and possibly by way of ComicLink  an Incredible Hulk 340. I became aware of this scam via the negative feedback left on briva3 Ebay seller account and the podcast provided by West Coast Davengers and 9.9 Newsstand.  I also believe the New Mutants 98 book that was part of the New Mutants Mark Jewler scam that was discussed in one of the podcast is possible a regular Newsstand edition I won in an auction from briva3 prior to the New Mutants Mark Jewelers auction by him. I suspect at last minute he needed the regular NM 98 newsstand as after I successfully won the auction he canceled the purchase through Ebay.  There has been a question of briva3 real name, location and possible contact information. Based on the shipments of the ASM 238s, a conversation I had personally with him as well as messages exchanged and most recently information provided to me by Ebay for the return of the ASM 238 books to him, I have contact information for him.

In my attempt make a claim with Ebay, I also submitted a return request, as that was the only option available, through their resolution center noting that the seller had been identified as defrauding buyers and that I would like to file a fraud claim. My hope was that  using the term fraud would trigger a keyword alert in their system and that someone from Ebay would reach out to me directly. It was to my surprise on Friday that I received a response from Ebay stating that the seller, briva3, had responded and approved my return request for the ASM 238 books. This concerns me as I now don't believe Ebay is aware that this is a case of the seller defrauding buyers and subsequently attempt to take action against the seller. If that is in fact the situation, it ties into my other concern of the books from buyers requesting returns being shipped back to the seller and used later in some new manner to defraud collectors in the future. While I want to be made whole financially, if possible. I don't want the books to be returned to briva3 only to be used in some nefarious manner down the line because of lack recourse or actions that allow briva3 to slip through the cracks. From the perspective of being one of the buyer's impacted by this scam, I would much rather CGC request the books forward to them, make the concessions to the buyers and either retain the books or regrade them accurately to possibly be sold at a later date at the new correct grade. In conjunction with that effort, enact new security measures that prevent a scam like this and the defrauding of buyers, in this manner, from occurring in the future.

I would like to thank Dave at West Coast Davengers as after receiving the approved return response from Ebay, I reached out to him and he provided me his thoughts on the issue I am facing in returning the books to briva3 as well as recommended that I post on this forum for the perspective, thoughts and awareness of its members.

Below are the links to the auctions for the ASM 238s I won on Ebay as well as the auction I won for the NM 98 that briva3 retracted the purchase for. If you look at the feedback of the bidding history and feedback count of the buyer for the auctions, you can see they were all won by the same buyer. Also, I have provided a link to the Incredible Hulk 340 that sold on Ebay and then was sold to me via ComicLink a few months later. The certification numbers are the same but I believe the books could possibly be different.
