  1. Got my comics straightaway, just as described and packaged to survive Armageddon. Thanks!
  2. Fresh eyes are often a good addition. I think you'd provide a great set of fresh eyes, and edowens is a good, balanced thinker who could contribute, too. So respected vets, some fresh eyes, see what you come up with. The worst that happens is you're told no and life goes on.
  3. I think the idea of a custom title, only for HOS, would be great. PL would be too much of a pain in the @ss for mods to add and remove and keeping track. Seems like HOS is a rare occasion and once set, aside from menace, would be somewhat of a permanent, well-deserved designation. All of that being said - I think Arch and the mods have made it clear that it is the community that will police the sales threads and they don't want the headache of it. And I don't blame them. If you were in their position, would you want to always be monitoring and updating statuses. They view this as an adult forum and people should be able to handle these matters as adults. Hey, a constructive response! Yay! It seems that the current fuss is over alerting folks to irredeemable boardies who are basically giving the bird to the PL and HoS, and the community along with it. You can either crowd source attempts at micro-policing activities, which just seems to be causing an angst all its own, or you can attempt to facilitate the whole caveat emptor thing. Buyers needs to be on their toes, but what's wrong with making things a bit easier for would-be buyers? Succinct information threads in each sales forum would make it much simpler for folks to inform themselves, and also disarm the reprobates to a degree. And editing the first post of the PL thread would take mere moments and steer to the information that they're actually after. It's a technique that worked well for me and my peers when I was modding a large board. I suppose we can just meme it all away and get lost in eye-rolls and facepalms, but people seems to be spending a lot of time talking, and apparently talking about the same-same for some time now, but not a lot of doing. Other than to talk about the talking, de-legitimize arguments based simply on the fact that they've been posed before, and other illogical nonsense. Of course, if there are reasons to consider elsewise, that'd be welcome, though it'd also be more talking about talking, but it seems people are more interested, for the most part, in one-liners and dashing off to meme-generators than doing something substantive. Anyhow, I need to go re-bag some comics that came in recently. You gents and ladies have a great weekend.
  4. Well, if the community is content spinning its wheels, then maybe stop all the kvetching?
  5. Is that just jaded-vet syndrome speaking? So they're bad suggestions year after year, or maybe there's some merit to them, hence they keep coming up again and again? Sounds like the same complaints are cycling through, so...
  6. Someone mentioned earlier the idea of users on PL or in HoS having a custom title. Do you think mods could be successfully petitioned to do that? Or at least do it for HoS, which might be more manageable than PL? What if in each sales sub-forum, there was a pinned thread along the lines of "What to know before you buy". You guys could craft a post entry that linked to the sales rules (so that buyers could know if sellers were meeting those basic sales guidelines), the PL, and the HoS. Both the PL and HoS could get a brief explanation and caveat.
  7. More goodies from Ghost Town. Couldn't be happier. I'd do business with this boardie again, no problem.
  8. It should have been assumed that someone not disgusted with themselves over the karma involved in lying about death and cancer, wouldn't feel the slightest tinge of "shame" inherent in being inducted of a "HALL" of the same name. Ya, the concept of contrition seems to have escaped sc1. Rather remarkable to watch his prolonged flippant attitude towards all of this.
  9. What I see lately is sales thread after sales thread of "Normal rules" and nothing else really to describe terms of sale. None of these sparsely worded threads have seem to have pulled any grief. Makes it hard to know what is or isn't acceptable.
  10. I think so, yes, all transactions are 2-way streets and the rules are reciprocal as I understand it. That said, how many times have you asked for your invoice? Ya, I'd reach out first. I do that as a matter of course, just to record the comic(s) that I've agreed to purchase.
  11. And he also wrote this... You've been a member on e-bay for almost 9 years now (3/15/2005), and you never knew how to block bidders as a seller? You have 249 feedback as a seller, and since not everyone leaves feedback, you've obviously had many more transactions than that. But we're supposed to believe you don't know how to block bidders. For somebody who wants to be a pharmacist, you sure do miss a lot of the "little" things in the "big" picture, don't you. You're studying to go into a career field where every "little" detail matters, yet you can't get e-bay right? fwiw, I only learned this recently (Me --> http://www.ebay.com/usr/brother17) That probably says as much about me as anything else.
  12. noted my lack of social skills shine through yet again Honestly, this is a pretty puerile excuse for blundering about as you've done. I think Speedy-D has it pretty on target when he says "You are a magnet for drama aren't you?" If it's true that these two ne'er-do-wells are so determined to harangue you, your "lack of social skills" must've really gotten to them. It's a bit implausible that these two people would be so vindictive as to risk their own online reputations to plague you. If it's true that you were shilling your own auctions, whilst promoting them here, and subsequently lying with such rapidity, that indicates behavior bordering on sociopathy. Regardless, you're a drama magnet, to put it nicely. I don't have a dog in this fight, other than the continued integrity of a community into which I'm entering, integrity built and maintained by many of the folks posting in this thread. Your flippant attitude and the shadiness surrounding some of your doings do raise a lot of flags. For me, that's reason enough to steer clear.
  13. My second purchase from Bob. Just as good as the first. Thank you, sir! Keep those Strange Tales coming.
  14. Proof positive that I buy too much. Thanks, all, for the kind words.
  15. Ghost Town must've had these comics delivered by Phantom Express. They came very safely packaged almost overnight. Very professional transaction, well done, thank you!
  16. Picked up a Battlestar Galactica lot. Got comics that I've wanted to read for a while, they were shipped fast and packaged well. Good transaction all around!
  17. Got two boxes today, one that I submitted with my coupon and the other that went through a submission service. The Nick Fury #3 was a nice surprise, for sure. And I was surprised that Men of War went 9.6, though it was pressed which might have done the trick. All in all a good haul, minus the Nick Fury issues 5 and 8 which I didn't post. They came back as 8.0's, but they still give me a complete run.
  18. Wow, this book is already double over 12 month average GPA. Anyone else surprised? Is this the marketplace answering this thread? http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2Fauctions%2Fpreview%2Easp%3Fcode%3D2014jan%26pg%3D19%23Item_993844&id=993844
  19. Solid transaction. I'd buy from Nik again, no problem. Book just what I ordered, shipped safe and sound. Thanks, Nik!
  20. Got my comic today from jsilverjanet. Shipped fast and secure, book just what I wanted, very professional to deal with. Good stuff!
