  1. No offense intended, but you are alone in your point of view on this. -slym I think I speak for everyone when I say I hate when people speak for everyone. I hate that you just spoke my mind so succinctly.
  2. I really can't pinpoint why I like this cover, but I know that I do. Nice copy you've got there. And what about asbestos man? Little did his creators know just how deadly that cancerous lech would be.
  3. Ya, that's a beauty of a 9.0. Having to let my 4.0 go as we prepare for arrival of baby. Would love to have a gorgeous copy like this some day. Maybe I can rent the newborn out...like hug-a-kid or something, and make him pay his own way, save up my pennies for sweet sweet comics.
  4. HighGradeComics posted this for sale recently and I couldn't resist. Normally I don't buy beyond 9.4, not for my Strange Tales, but just not a lot of these around.
  5. Yeah it got scrubbed. What was the crapping, and who was dropping it? This stuff is getting tiresome. I say no one's allowed to post in sales threads without the permission of a Boardie from at least the class of '08. Preferably myself. Maybe if it isn't an honest & interested potential buyer, maybe all other comments should be refrained? Sorry, Rupp - if that is how it goes down, your Clooneythons will never be the same. -slym That's the problem. As long as there's inconsistency, it will continue to be hard to police. Same thing happens in schools. If all teachers consistently enforce behavior, and administrators consistently support that enforcement, then you will reduce instances of misbehavior. But if a few teachers don't toe the line or administrators deal out consequences unevenly, problems will persist. Some sellers invite random posting. GLWTS comments and convenient bumps-from-friends seem tolerated. Banter continues in long sales threads. It seems there's a thin line between what's acceptable and what's not, and it doesn't seem to be applied consistently.
  6. Columbia Comics loves to thread krap the sales threads of newer members. Did he delete a post, as when I go to that sales thread there is only one follow-up, and it is someone posting the forum rules and guidelines. Yep 3 posts were removed The first was CC stating he wasn't surprised the OP couldn't follow the rules because he posts I the WTB without ever responding back then someone randomly condemning CC Last post was the OP laughing at CC and saying he was upset cause he didn't buy his books -JSJ aka. Hector "TK sales thread beat reporter -If it stinks, you'll be reading it from me first" Hector? I thought your name was Janet? That's only when I wear a dress and makeup. My alter crime fighting ego. Kinda like... Just a joke, read about these doll suits on The Daily Beast earlier today.
  7. Shipped fast, packed superbly safely, books just as described. Professional communications. Couldn't ask for a better transaction. Thank you, sir! Look forward to doing business again.
  8. Something I've been wondering: Why do people post via PM? The seller knows it was negotiated out. I understand that an is needed in the thread to make things official, let other potential buyers know, and so on. Adding the "via PM" doesn't really add some binding clause. It seems that per forum norms, once there's a dispute, PM's, emails, and whatever other communications might become public. Is there good reason to add the "via PM"? And is there reason not, too? As to the latter, I figure people can PM if they want, and it's not for me to advertise that I've been talking with a seller via PM. When I have bought by PM, I just post a regular in the sales thread.
  9. Yup. A few here are getting completely out of hand, and becoming a bigger problem than the azz hat sellers they're fired up about. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7303170&gonew=1#UNREAD Just saw that. And from a member who's been around since 2005. Well, 2005 was THE worst year for newbs. Anyone who joined up that year, you can pretty much ignore their opinion. Damn. Suddenly it all falls into place. I'd just like to jump on the quote train. It's like Borges meets Inception in here.
  10. Actually graded 05/08/2014 This is my first submission. If they want to impress me, it'll need to be 7/1/2014, at the earliest.
  11. Economy Fast Track Verified 12/02/2013 Scheduled for Grading 12/31/2013
  12. Ya, I have economy fast track from 12/02, still showing verified. I'd like to think they'll be underway by 12/31 but with the holidays, maybe week of January 6.
  13. Had a very positive transaction with Patrick. Item very well shipped, very professional transaction throughout, comic just what I wanted and what was advertised. Good all around!
  14. Noobs have nothing to contribute, do they? As for me, I was suggesting a variation on a veteran member's idea. Please forgive me for trying to make some sort of contribution.
  15. Instead of "common practices", maybe "best practices"? Not rules, not even guidelines, just what's accepted as a best practice that makes things go smoothly for all involved, especially those with a direct interest.
  16. I don't know that I'd see them as the same thing. One scenario is just changing the name of who the sold book is going to, your scenario puts the book back on the market (in dales thread). Not the end of the world, but definitely something one should have ones with dale about before doing. Typically you'd see the seller post in their thread "book X is available again" Thanks, that makes sense. I do think I've seen that "book x is available again" post in some other thread. I'm happy to keep this one--a nice addition to my growing Steranko covers.
  17. So some rules are written. Let's call these 'rules'. Some rules are unwritten. Let's call these 'norms'. People learn norms by observation, absorption, and emulation. I emulated behavior I had seen. Seemed acceptable. Was approved by seller. Someone else observed and emulated me. Seemed okay, he'd seen someone else do it. Then we learn, it's not okay; indeed, it's not an accepted norm. And now someone gets facepalmed for trying to follow what seemed like observable norms. Kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't thing, it seems to me.
  18. It's not a huge deal. You did something we don't do in sales threads here. You should just PM Dale and work it out with him privately. Thanks, it's still a book I'm after so I edited things to retract letting someone else claim it. It's not like I'm not already going to be paying him a tidy sum for my stack!
  19. Yeah, trigger happy. Been looking for that Steranko for a while. I didn't think much of it as people had 'given' take its to other folks when one person won it first and one or more folks wanted it too. Not strictly analogous but seemed in the ball park enough.
  20. I'm looking at the Usage Guidelines, and it seems to me that people were "nudging" said buyer. Several folks made a point of being nice with their posts. Here's what I'm referencing: I didn't realize that I was threadcrapping, so I'll learn from it and move on. Not sure what constitutes threadcrapping, so I'll go looking for other rules threads. I see so much randomness posted in numerous sales threads that I'm a bit puzzled at the moment.
