  1. Sounds like "some random seller". Sometimes he's selling on consignment so the books aren't in hand. Once the sales are made, he'll retrieve the books and then try to ship all at once. I've bought from him several times, and I just know that when buying from him, the books usually take a while. But you will get them, at good prices, and fairly graded.
  2. No, he should not have to pay grading fees. However, I think it's apparent that symbiotic has no intention of making good on the transaction. Isn't he one of the unrepentant, thumbing his nose at those who criticized his behavior? Regardless, he should be on the PL--it's both merited by this transaction and would serve to warn other persons considering a purchase from him.
  3. :ha: I like that, gerber baby. Yeah, I got turned on to those, and it's what I use exclusively for all non-moderns and any valuable moderns.
  4. I'm curious as to just how much they make off those notes. I've bought them a few times, once when I was perplexed why a book I submitted got such a low grade and another time when I was debating among three different copies of Strange Tales 110. But ya, otherwise just seems a waste of money, and makes sense that when I pay to have something graded that I could actually see the graders' notes explaining said grade.
  5. Those are buyers. that's what happens when you put a n00b in charge of newbs Yeah, yeah! Down with newbie n00bs! They are for rottentots!
  6. I don't make many cons. Do displays turn you on or off a dealer? I just want good books at the best price I can get.
  7. So I've seen some DC (I forget what exactly) 100 super spectacular presents whatever First He-Man in Comics going for some pretty decent swag. Is that something new or has that book been in demand. And well, that might just be copper... Let's discuss when the bronze age really ended. Would that be good?
  8. Had a great transaction for an MP 47 from Dan. Super nice guy, easy to deal with, a real pleasure and asset to the boards.
  9. Revat sold me some Hawkeye comics. Easy, smooth transaction. Thank you, sir!
  10. Just in! Thanks to Rich_Henn for helping me inch closer to my BSG 9.8 run!
  11. Anyone accustomed to using a forum should be able to do those things.
  12. And so much for a sense of diplomacy. Not my fight, though. Just my decision whether to accept a buyer or not.
  13. Roy's not a drama seeker. Notice that this thread has over 600k views. Buyers here know to look in this thread as one means of vetting potential purchases. Roy's right, and he and the other veteran members know far better than I that the members work to keep the boards clean. If a red flag goes up, they will pursue matters doggedly. Go back 50 or 100 pages and follow some other conversation. You'll see that this is par for the course. Working to maintain a tightknit, reputable community among the morass of the internet at large takes people who care and people who are active. Roy's not looking to pick a fight. He's looking out for the integrity of a community in which he believes. A post that didn't seem to get much attention was skypinkblu's. As she said, this forum is more than the selling boards. Members look to become part of the community across the different boards that interest them. Buying and selling is part of the community, and when folks seem to take an interest in the community simply as a financial tool, that can rankle some folks. While I can understand your agitation with Roy, Mr. Palma, you should consider not only his standing on the boards, but the community that's built up here over time through the work of numerous people. You've shown a fair amount of diplomacy for the most part, but stepping back to see the situation from the community's point of view may do the situation some good.
  14. I've been following this thread and certainly have my hesitations, but threadcrapping is threadcrapping. Caveat emptor, buyers should be doing due diligence. I think the comments in Frank's sales thread are out of line.
  15. Paul hooked me up with a good lot of Amazing Adventures at a good price, and he went so far as to include a missing book, which I knew wasn't included, from the run when it turned up in another box of purchases. Thank you, sir!
  16. Yeah but then we would see their random nonsense all over the boards and that should throw up a red flag to everyone...as long as they are paying attention. There are a lot of people who I see in the sales thread but never anywhere else so they might not notice someone jacking up their thread count. Exactly, that's what I was thinking. You could make it higher, but 100 is enough to know if someone is fluffing it or actually interested in the community.
  17. Has this idea come up before: members who reach X number of posts (say, 100), change from Registered User (or whatever the forum settings are) to Privileged Member, and only Privies can access the Sales boards?
  18. Is it the same book with a different photo, or is it a different book? The bottom left corner looks the same, but other elements don't, not quite....
  19. I confess. I will buy any variant of Adventure Time with Jake and Finn. A, B, C, D. Cons, Exclusives, you name its. Not all the spin off titles, just Jake and Finn. I love the cartoon series, love the comics, brilliant stuff really. The comic cover art is just gorgeous for the most part. I want them all, and you can see my WTB thread and sell me a few variants that I'm missing! But otherwise, no. Just a money drain. Except for Adventure Time which is totally worth it. Like, totally.
  20. Another good transaction. Only problem is that namisgr keeps emptying my wallet. Thanks again, sir!
  21. What a gent! Enjoyed ECCC and made lots of great books available to boardies. And I had my books the Thursday after the con ended. Thank you, sir!
