  1. There you go shooting the messenger again: http://www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/justice-league/269109/justice-league-and-what-comes-next-for-the-dceu -J.
  2. Careful. You will be called a "troll" if you dare question how this film could possibly have cost $300MM, and/or how that is reflected in the end product vis a vis the box office. Never mind the fact that the same conversation is had in virtually every other thread once a movie comes out, and the fact that Bosco, who normally reliably posts his very useful box office charts on Sunday evenings, has one conspicuously absent for this movie. Perhaps the optics of posting this film with a negative first week multiplier was not anything he felt would warrant an honest conversation. Better to name call someone a "troll" instead. Easier too. Of course name calling in debate is usually the first resort of a person who already knows they have no leg to stand on. To your points, however, yes I have also read that whatever plans for any additional JLA movies anytime soon have been scrapped. Flashpoint has been quietly put on the shelf as well, at least for now, primarily since the intended plot of that film involved meeting alternate members of the JLA. Green Lantern Corps will be at least pushed back until they see how Aquaman performs first. Affleck is out, Cavill and Amy Adams most likely are out as well. Suicide Squad 2 will probably still get made. Shazaam is fairly deep in pre production, but it is not a lock to move any further at this point. The Batgirl movie is very iffy now and so is that Joker movie. It all basically comes down to how Aquaman does. I would prefer it not having to come down to that particular movie since putting that character in a solo film was already risky proposition in the first place. But we'll see. As you said, WB will be focusing basically on Batman and Wonder Woman films until the wheels come off, and these will be stand alone affairs. WB is basically going to abandon the interconnected Marvel formula. And that might just be the route they should go at this point. -J.
  3. Based on no assumptions. Based on what has come before and the fact that this film has done nearly the identical business (to the same underperforming extent) in the same territory. Ergo your international shortfall is most likely largely due to China. Logic. -J.
  4. 667, 678, 688 are the holy trinity of late Spider-Man variants. -J.
  5. Because it's the closest comparison there is. -J.
  6. No I haven't any such article. Which is why I posted the post mortem article for BvS as a reference point. -J.
  7. So.....where is the missing $26MM in its projected international box office? -J.
  8. Because of this, if past history is any guide: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.inverse.com/amp/article/13484-why-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-bombed-in-china I thought WW actually had a pretty decent China first week showing, all things considered. -J.
  9. If the movie was expected to do $110MM domestic and only did $96MM, that means the film also under perfored internationally by about $26MM. -J.
  10. What are your thoughts on it releasing just two weeks after Thor? Miscalculation? I think there was about a month between Wonder Woman and Homecoming. I was going to say that mid week business might help this movie. But now I'm thinking kids and families will be going to see Wonder and not this and then Coco after that, instead of this. I was also questioning whether this might just be the beginning of "superhero fatigue". But then I look at how well Thor is doing- Thor, mind you- and I conclude that DC does not know how to control its spending on these movies and audiences (and especially critics) are just sick of their particular product and brand in its current iteration. Also, @Bosco685 this movie was projected to do $325MM at the global box office, so no, despite what that article you quoted implies, $285 is also well below expectations in that regard as well. China looks to be particularly weak, and as you know, most American films get pulled pretty quickly there, no matter how well they're still doing. -J.
  11. Don't forgot about Mr. Mom and Johnny Dangerously. He started out as a comedic actor. -J.
  12. At last, we agree on something. -J.
  13. I agree. That scene at the dinner table with the meat pies was one if the best scenes ever for this show. I thought the Penguin was fantastic in the episode in general, but he was particularly pitch perfect in that scene. They even managed to make the Pyg menacing in his final showdown with Gordon. What a great episode. -J.
  14. This movie cost $300MM, and Mendelson says it will do $75mm-$80mm if it plays like a typical DC offering. Mendelson also essentially says that the seemingly inevitable disasrous box office of this movie is likely the chickens finally coming home to roost after years of terrible movies from DC. I'm offering no personal opinions on this movie or its performance thus far, I have not yet seen it. But Mendelson's noticeably dour/sanguine tone is telling and mildly disturbing to me, considering the source. -J.
  15. Looks like even mega fanboy Mendelson is already calling it: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/11/18/justice-league-is-a-box-office-disappointment-with-39m-friday/amp/ -J.
  16. I don't think I can get behind this logic. Sure, characters will evolve and change over the years. But the likes of the GA Flash and Green Lantern were summarily abandoned by their publishers for new creations and character identities, and it is those characters that have subsequently changed and evolved, but have ultimately survived the test of time and become ingrained in pop culture. -J.
  17. One of the only 7, 9.8 graded copies of the #8 editorial variant is up for bids on Heritage right now and is already at $5200+. Wonder where this might end up: https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/sandman-8-editorial-variant-dc-1989-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7169-92221.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 -J.
  18. These are phenomenal. Especially the top one. Damn. -J.
  19. Agreed. They both have the benefit of classic covers as well as substantive content (though 38 is technically not a "pre-Robin" ). -J.
  20. Another 8.0 copy of Tec 33 sold for $150k back in March 2017. Book has been hot going on two years now. -J.
  21. The copy that went for less also had some gnarly MC and significantly worse "eye appeal". -J.
